Commuter For my commuter I purchased a set of high quality Michelin purchased through Costco online. I created an appointment for 4:30pm. I brought my car in at 4 for check in and didn't get my car til 9pm. To me, why did I create an appointment? Waiting over 4.5 hours is a bit ridiculous. This pushed me to continue to purchase tires through Tirerack and sending them to a local shop. Tire rack and multiple vendors have set and agreed pricing. If I was to go back to Costco I would seriously just make the earliest appointment possible and account for the car being there all day. Diesel Truck w/bfg's I purchased two tires at $666, which is a good deal. Due to the weight of the motor , the primary tires on the front wore quicker than the backs even with rotation. I bought two to replace the fronts. The backs have 20,000 left give or take, which is the why i kept the backs. They stated i needed four because my truck is all wheel drive, which it is not. They wanted me to go for 4 tires ar roughly $1400, which i couldn't do due to budgetary concerns. Tires took 2 plus hours from appointment time. Conclusion Pros Cost Quality tires Quality work Cons Sales for unwanted and unneeded items or service Time taken for install is excessive compared to other shops even with an appointment

I bring my car in for a tire rotation online says it will take an hour. I bring it 30 mins before my appt which is at 3:00 and my car doesn’t get put in the shop until 5:00 when I asked for long it would take at 3:00 he said 45 mins to 1 hour. It took my car 2 hours to just get in the shop. Incredibly slow I spent time watching the team work from outside the shop and wow slowest team on the coast without a doubt. I missed 2 other appts I had because of their lack to move at a normal persons pace and keep their attention to the job and not their coworkers. Terrible and completely unprofessional!! March 13 @5:02 still without my car.

Never good to leave a bad review for a service shop when you work in one too. Just needed a tire change on a flat. Called to make an appointment, I was told they don't make appointments to bring it in. Made us wait 6 hrs because we didn't make appointment.... After 2hrs asked for a ETA, guy got into my face and said you'll wait until we're ready. If you're busy I get it, I'm in the same industry. No reason to act that way.

Painful. I tried calling several times right when they opened at 7am. Finally just drove over because I had to have screw removed from tire right away. The man I dealt with had not been trained in effective communication nor customer service. Told me it would take 2/2.5 hours to get to it because they had to take appointments first. And their next appointment was scheduled to arrive in 50 minutes. He also didnt make it clear if they were going to rotate tires which I had requested. He just kept telling me it should be done every 6500 miles and I was over that. I've never had it be a precise number; its usually a range. But he kept referring to the warranty. The whole experience was frustrating and ineffective. I wish I had purchased tires elsewhere that provided better service beyond initial purchase.

A very unpleasant experience. 3 hrs to get two new tires. I ordered them online and made an appointment for 10:00am. I waited for 20 minutes to get my car checked in and was promised the job to be completed in 1.5 hrs. I went inside the store to pick up a few items and left a couple of frozen item till the very end. I checked out and stopped by the tire center. One of the techs told me they were 20 minutes late. I came around and saw my car up already lifted but without any work done. Another half an hour went by and no one looked or came close to my car so I went inside. The tech saw me and told me he was going to find out the status and was told, again, that they needed more time so I questioned him how come my car had been all lifted and untouched in over an hour. He called his supervisor. Supervisor said he was just stating his shift and he'll have someone working on it right away. 3 hours later and with frozen stuff melting my car was delivered. I could've asked for a refund on those items but I was hungry and tired. I understand delays happen and that is not my complaint here. Had I been told they were expecting delays and installation was going to take longer than anticipated I could've call and get a ride home and come back when the car was ready. It's the inability of the tech to provide me with a realistic wait time.

Good price but took forever to get the tires in. Made an appointment and it took 2+ hours to get my car. I have a Camry.

I went in for a simple tire rotation and when the service tech handed my truck over to me I noticed a liquid that had been splattered on the face each of my wheels. I didn't think too much of it and got into my truck and left. Fast forward to my next washing (about a month later) and I noticed that the solution had permanently stained (etched) my nice black wheels! I filed a formal written compliant with the Costco Tire Center and the manager said that they do not used ANY solution for any of their tire installation or rotation procedures. The manager told me that they did have video cameras at various locations throughout the tire center which could be reviewed. He took pictures of each of my wheels and said that I would be hearing back from them within 48 hours. I received a call from Costco's insurance adjuster a couple of days later and he stated that since Costco did not use any solution for any of their operations that my wheels would not be covered. The adjuster did not mention any feedback from the video surveillance and I 100% guaranteed him that if they in fact had eyes on my truck and tires the entire time that it was in the shop then they would surely see how the solution got into my wheels. I have been a loyal Costco customer for decades and was shocked that a company like Costco would literally ruin a customers wheels during a simple tire rotation and not try to get to the bottom of what may have happened. One VERY Disappointed customer!

I am a big Costco fan and been a member since Price Club San Diego in 1976. That said my last experience at the Santa Cruz tire shop was not pleasant. Made appointment for 6pm Wednesday. Showed up at 545, did paperwork and was told it would be about 90 minutes because of backlog. Cruised the store and at 630 went so see how my car was doing. 3 bays empty and they brough 3 new cars in none of them mine. By 7pm just starting on the cars. I asked for my keys and left since I figured I would not be out until 830. Staff was apologetic and nice but I feel they must be really overworked. If you are going to schedule appointments at least try and get that customer's car on the lift within 15 mins. Maybe like the photo service Costco corporate figures the tire shop business just doesn't make sense. If that is the case just close it down.

I’ve been using Costco for my tires for years, first in Ohio and now here. The value of it is such a good deal that I will probably continue tolerating stupefyingly bad service rather than go elsewhere. Golden handcuffs of sorts… I don’t know what is going on with this location, but something is broken. There’s zero attention to detail and some dumb thing overlooked every time I go, which makes 3x now. Most recently, I took my new car in for nitrogen conversion. My appointment was at 4:45, I was on time and the estimated about a two hour wait. Sure. Fine. It’s a weekday and I expect them to be behind at that point. Fine I got a notification that my car had been unlocked so I knew that they had moved it it on Google maps so I could tell when they were working on it and when they had moved it back to a parking spot. I wasn’t called when it was finished. I arrived 30 minutes after it had been moved. They did not replace the valve cap with the green ones signifying that the tires were filled with nitrogen and seemed confused why I would want that, despite the fact that every time it’s been a default thing. More disturbingly, my car wasn’t locked and my hood wasn’t latched correctly and was displaying a message warning about it on the dashboard. Thankfully my medication wasn’t stolen out of my car while it sat there unattended. Finally, only one of four tires had the correct pressure in them. The other three were between one and 5 pounds low. I hate to lean on a cliché here, but this isn’t rocket science. I just don’t understand how you can screw up more tasks that were even included in the project. It’s impressive and depressing as all get out.

Quoted me 1.5 hours then took about twice that (3 hours) to change a single tire. Guess you get what you pay for.

This place is so slow you I don’t get what all them are doing. Had tire rotation at 11am was assuming it would be fast since it’s morning appointment, no. Didn’t even look at my car till 1:30 just to call me saying they wouldn’t even do it since my tires were too bald. Fair enough but that could have took 2 minutes, I waited around for 2.5 hours. The employees are super unfriendly and unapproachable too, expect better from Costco.

Geesh. I am almost speechless at what a ridiculous ordeal it has been to get tires from this location. If you need new tires immediately... DO NOT go here for speed and ease. I've been a Costco member for years and bought many tires from other locations with ease. This time though...it is a week later and still no tracking and no tires. I've called more times than I can remember at this point. After 4 calls and no answer the first day I finally got someone to answer. He was short and not very helpful. Told me we had to buy the tires online or in the store before we could make an appt. If we went in to buy the tires they could not guarantee a service time for that day. So, living in the mountains 30 minutes away, we asked which tires to buy online that they had in stock at the store and we would buy them and set an appt. He was short and hard to understand and did not give us the item #. We placed an order online and called multiple times again and finally got an answer and got a nice guy (I believe his name is Carlos) to explain things better. We told him we placed the order and he said it was too soon for him to see it on his end so they still could not set an appt. When we called multiple times again and finally got the same nice man on the phone we found out that apparently we got the wrong ones and they did not have those ones in stock. They had to wait for them to come from Oakland. It's been almost a week now and we still have no tracking information or new tires. Did I mention we live in the mountains and there are small kids who ride in that vehicle with bad tires? Not impressed. At this point we could've gone over the hill to Discount Tires and had new tires right away. Next time we will.

Costco tire center was great! Easily went online to pick my tires out, paid for them and set an appointment up. Dropped my car off at the time of my appointment (9:30) they checked me in right away and told me they would call me when it was done. Less than 2 hours later it was ready to be picked up.

4 new tires, great. Fine price. Only issue is they installed a tpms sensor as mine was destroyed after a flat. It does not pair with my truck (Tundra 23). They said it would be a day to update their software to fix, they would call. 2 weeks no call. Back at costco they said they would refund if they could retrieve the sensor. It was 63$, it will cost me 1 hr of driving and 1 hour of wait. Not worth it. They should know which vehicles are not pairable. Waste of time.

I love buying stuff at Costco but I'm done buying their tires. The service at Santa Cruz tire place is rude and slow. When you pick up or drop off your car, be prepared to wait 10 minutes or more just to speak to someone. Simple things that should take an hour or less just take way longer than they should. Having to make appointments is a pain. The cheaper tires aren't worth the terrible service.

Made an appointment to get new tires installed, but it took more than 3 hrs. to get them installed. Next day one was almost flat, so I went back and had to wait another 3.5 hrs. to get this checked out. What is the point of customer service and making appointments? I don't think I will ever come back here nor recommend this place.

I’ve come to get new tires here twice for my vehicle and both times I had to wait over two hours. It’s an hour or two after the appointment that they begin. The appointments typically are not for many days out before. Totally ineffective appointment systems. Clearly this place is understaffed, overbooked, and extremely unprofessional. For the cost I would advise going anywhere else.

Ordered my full set of tires on 12/15, made an appt at that time for 12/26 at 10 AM. Dropped my car on time and received a call at 11:05 AM that installation was complete! All employees were cordial and helpful. 👍

Should have checked the reviews before coming here to take a nail out of my tire. I love Costco so I figured the service would be good. Made an appointment and when I dropped my car, I was told 45 minutes to an hour. After an hour and a half I asked a technician (young Asian with glasses, very rude and talked to me like I was stupid) how much longer it would be since my car still hadn’t been taken into the shop. He told me mine was about to be taken in and it would be about another an hour and 45 minutes (for a tire patch??) I complained and said that was ridiculous so he then said maybe a hour. I said I didn’t have that much time and he then said maybe 30/45 minutes. I went to just get a refund so I could leave and someone else finally came up to me (manager?) and told me it would only take 30 minutes. The technicians are clearly lazy and taking their sweet time. Absolutely do not recommend coming here.
