The pictures speak for themselves. While they did a good job on the bumper and the dent on the trunk, the yellowish glue is an eyesore. It’s been several days since I reached out via e-mail as told by the receptionist. Still waiting for a response. From what I’ve seen on other Teslas, the glue should blend in with the car color. I’d be happy to edit my review once this is made right.

I had my car repaired here a week before the holidays and picked it up on the Saturday of the holiday weekend. I only drove it to the rental car location and then home, but the very next day my car was leaking fluids again and became undrivable. It was such a hassle having to wait until Tuesday when the shop reopened. Clearly, the repair work was poorly done. I would not recommend this place at all.

Took a brand new car here, after returning the car multiple times for different issues I finally get the car back with swirl marks all over. I don’t know why they would spend so much time trying to get the paint right just to scratch up the clear coat with their “courtesy wash”. Do not take any car you care about here.

**** update*** Rating went up to a 3 due to their prompt resolution of my dissatisfaction of the repair. I took my car in and they immediately fixed it. Estimated time of completion was way underestimated, I had to call several times to get a status, their response “it’s just an estimate” and they’re a “busy shop”. Plus I am not satisfied with the repair. Picture on the left is when I dropped off the car… picture on the right when I picked up my car. There’s a visible gap that wasn’t there before.

I took my car here and it was a simple rear bumper replacement but it almost took two weeks to get it done. Supposedly they kept getting defective rear bumpers. The paint and color match was spot on. My biggest complaint is that the bumper is either defective or misaligned as I see a bigger gap on the left side of the rear bumper. As far as service goes it was great. The place is very clean and the shop itself looks well equipped and high tech. I only have a car which means if they could correct the problem I would be carless or rent a car at my expense which is disappointing. I picked this shop because I read the good reviews and they seemed to be positive for the most part. I have had bad experiences in the past with other body shops that weren't the greatest either. Well live and learn experience here. I wish my experience would have been the opposite as I had really high expectations for this place.

11/12/2023 UPDATE: This is an update to my initial experience/review of Crash Champions Downey West. My vehicle repairs were finally completed on November 11, 2023, a year after the repair shop initially began working on the vehicle, and much of it had to do with the support of the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). Although my car’s functions now work, the cosmetic wear my car sustained at Crash Champions continued and my car has new and bigger scratches on the body, scratches on the rear liftgate glass tint, chips on the front bumper and passenger side view mirror, curb rash on my right-side wheels, and my lower front bumper does not sit flush on the right side anymore. If I could lower my rating from one star to a negative star review, I would. Rather than help maintain my vehicle’s value, Crash Champions has managed to lower my vehicles value with one really bad repair job. ORIGINAL POST: I needed to get repairs done on my Tesla Model S after being rear ended on the freeway, causing body damage to the rear of my vehicle including the liftgate. I chose Crash Champions out of convenience as they are located near my job, and they are a Tesla certified repair shop. I was hesitant to have my vehicle repaired at Crash Champions since I did not see many reviews from Tesla owners, and the ones I read were for minor repairs. I took my vehicle in on Nov. 1, 2022 with a repair estimate date of Dec. 16, 2022, and my vehicle was getting brand new parts. Everything seemed promising, and my vehicle was ready for pick up on Nov. 30, 2022 in the evening. At first glance, the repairs looked good in the dark; however, upon closer look, it seems like the repairs were a rush job and corners were cut from performing an adequate job. The liftgate was not aligned properly and there is a noticeable difference between the right and left panel gaps. The headliner trim was not placed properly and looks like it is falling off. Also, the brake light strip on the liftgate, and am/fm antenna located in the rear no longer work. The rubber seal at the base of the trunk was torn and they just spread something on it, but it is still torn. They replaced the broken taillights, but the driver rear corner light now collects condensation. The paint hand small swirl and line indentations, but they are noticeable. I’m not sure if my rear seats needed to be removed to perform the repairs, but they had many indentations, look worn out, and they now make squeaking noise when I’m driving. The interior of my car also had parts that were filthy, and other parts had some kind of film on it that had to be wiped off. And coincidentally, one of my daytime running lights no longer works. Crash Champion stated they would repair the radio antenna and the liftgate brake light, and Tesla Insurance let me know that supplemental funds were sent to them for those repairs. I am still waiting for the liftgate brake light and radio antenna repairs by crash champion, but have not received a call to take my car in. I’m not sure if there is a sensor located in the rear portion of the vehicle, but I sometimes cannot fast charge if the climate control is on, and I receive a message that climate control will be reduced, and fast charging may be affected. My vehicle’s warranty ended on Oct, 2022, so repairs are now out of pocket. I am going to need to pay to fully repair my vehicle from Tesla. I would have preferred that Crash Champions would have kept my vehicle until Dec. 16 and performed more adequate repair work. In retrospect, I wish I would have chosen a better repair shop and not one out of convenience. Lesson learned.

Easy fix. If I were your QA I’ll make sure that the vehicle being repaired at my shop will be squared away prior to turning it over to the owner. Attention to detail will help and get an outstanding feedback from customers. For me I expect my customers are happy of the services I rendered and get an awesome response.

Do not come here, if you do you will regret it. Ernesto and his team did nothing but take care of the insurance company needs, not the customers. My vehicle was given to me in worst condition then when I dropped it off. Dust all over the interior and the on outside wasn’t even washed as a courtesy. My repairs to my vehicle was not completed. They did the very minimum to pocket themselves money and insurance company. I now have to take my vehicle to another place to get work completed out of my pocket because of the incompetent and careless behaviors. They also left pieces of either my vehicle or some other vehicle inside my vehicle like if my interior was storage for trash. Why because they treat their customers like trash. Very disappointed.

I was overall very disappointed with the services rendered by Crash Champions. The one exception is Ernesto Rivera, my service advisor, who was very helpful and communicative throughout the process. I deeply care for my car, but I had reasonable expectations and patience for Crash Champions to do the work required. However, the car was not returned to me at the same level of quality before it fell victim to an attempted hit-and-run while parked. The overall turnaround time took over four weeks, and when I got the car back there was a major mechanical issue in the suspension and several cosmetic blemishes. It was also very dirty. I was told that the vehicle was ready, and that it went through an alignment. However, immediately after driving off the lot I was unable to turn the wheel more than 90 degrees from center without metal scraping. It was unsafe to drive. The TPMS light went on as well. It seemed that the mechanics did not even test drive the car before signing off on it. I brought it back the next day and the broken piece was replaced (a damaged bolt was put back on the car and it didn't fit correctly anymore compromising the suspension and steering). Worn down by the back-and-forth, I took the car back while metal blemishes on the interior side of the door remain. I noted these scrapes with Ernesto, but he suggested that I take the car off the lot as it had been there for over four weeks, and reminded me that I'm covered for a lifetime for the services rendered. This is the first car I've owned and I cherish it, and I was so disappointed to see that the lack of attention to detail cosmetically also led to a lack of attention on the mechanical side. I would not recommend Crash Champions at this time as the quality of the work was far below expectations and violated my trust in telling me the vehicle was ready. I intend to return so that the blemishes on the inside of the door are fixed. I'm not sure if they were caused by the collision or if the door was scraped on the ground during disassembly. I'm relieved to have my car back now, and I've driven a hundred miles to shake it down, but this has been a horrible experience and I've lost trust in Crash Champions' work. Thank you to Ernesto for being the liaison here and for the clear communication throughout the difficult process.
