Ed Blood has been called a Subaru Wizard. I'd say he IS the Subaru Wizard. That's because he loves Subaru, drives them and races them. If your Subaru needs some love Eddie's Automotive Service and Repair is the place. Took my 2001 Forester somewhere else because I had a certificate for an oil change and inspection. They told me about a couple things I knew were needing attention and quoted me a price. Out of curiosity, I called another place. Meh. Then I called Eddie's. I used to speak car fairly fluently but the newer ones baffle me, still I gave them as many details as possible and got a quote about half the price of the others. Eddie's also found something major the others missed. Even after fixing that, I'm still in for less than the other guys! Paying more does not insure quality or honesty, especially when you are a woman. I swear, when a woman walks in the shop, the price goes up, but not at Eddie's. The shop is fully and professionally equipped, tidy, and organized. Even the bathroom is clean!!!!! That's a rare thing in most auto shops. Subaru Wizards they are, they work their magic on most Japanese cars and occasionally on American. If they don't, or can't fit you in, they will refer you to someone they trust and respect. Good, honest mechanics are hard come by. Been with Eddie's Automotive for six or seven years. Will never think about "cheating on" Ed and his crew again. Nope. Not never.

The best experience I have had with a mechanic. Very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to get me in very quickly, and we're honest and straightforward about the issues with my car. 10/10 will return for any Subaru related needs.

Eddie and his techs are great folks. I have had them do everything from engine swaps to oil changes. Eddie is knowledgeable and straightforward. Great technician that will take care of your maintenance requirements for a lot less than the dealership. Two thumbs up!

I've been coming here since before the shift in ownership and the only difference I have noticed in the quality of service is that it's faster now that there are more mechanics on the team. No upselling, and they'll often get you in without an appointment, even for bigger jobs. I come from out of town and can just drop off the car, go for a walk and a bite, then come get it a few hours later. Prices are a bit higher than when it was just Eddie, but that's because he was grossly undercharging.

I took my Outback in for an oil change and tire rotation. Service was fast and I got to talk to the mechanic, not just a service representative whose job is to sell things I don't need. Staff was friendly and professional. I've been looking for a mechanic I could trust since I moved here in 2020. I'm delighted to have found Eddie's.

I brought my car to Eddie's Subaru Service & Repair after an unfortunate experience with Hanson Motors. I suspected that my engine might be overheating as a result of work that was done by Hanson for a recall. I brought my car to Eddie's for a second opinion after Hanson was not able to diagnose the problem and recommended an expensive engine tear down. Boy, am I glad I brought my car to Eddie's! Eddie's Subaru found a coolant plug in the lower radiator hose of my car which had caused the overheating. They took pictures of the plug in the hose and wrote clear notes in their invoice describing their work; they even gave me back the plug to return to the Hanson tech who left it there. While my car was at Eddie's, I called twice for an update and did not hear back; however, when I came in, Eddie was more than happy to discuss the diagnosis he'd done so far. I think waiting for a call back is a small tradeoff for being able to talk directly to the person doing the work on the car. Communication was prompt once they were able to determine the issue. All in all, I have been very impressed with the transparency, honesty, and reasonable rates at Eddie's Subaru and look forward to taking my car there again in the future.

Brought in a 2001 Outback for an engine swap and cv axle replacement. Had to wait longer than was quoted, then found out the one of jobs wasn’t relayed to the tech so came to pick it up two weeks later than promised and it was done. It was finished over the weekend. Thank you, that was awesome. Then to find out the working AC was no longer working and fasteners/clamps were missing from the engine swap. Back to the store to fix those issues. Long story short. Finally everything is resolved, good price, good work, at the end they made it right through explanation of what went wrong and price. I appreciate the work they did.

TL;DR professional, personable, and good pricing. If I ever have issues, I'm bringing my car back to Eddie. I had no experience with shops in the area, I knew I didn't want to take my car to a dealership though. Google reviews told me this shop was among the best so I went with it. My 2012 WRX hatch was having fueling issues. I called the shop to let them know I'd be dropping the car off after hours and left a note describing the issue, what I had done to troubleshoot, and what aftermarket parts I installed. When I called the following day, it was apparent that he'd read the note, as we discussed the issue. Instead of trying to sell me a new fuel pump, he was willing to install a different aftermarket pump that I had on hand. While that did fix the issue, he also let me know what the probable culprit was (busted o ring) and that the pump was probably still good, saving me the $130 for a new pump. Everyone at the shop was personable and professional, Eddie went above and beyond what's become the new standard for mechanics, and they didn't try to nickle and dime me. The next time my car needs more expertise than I possess, I'm bringing it back here

If you take your car here do not let Austin be your technician. He will: 1) Misdiagnose the issue (told me it was a clogged cat. I questioned that because the cat was replaced less than 2 years ago. He offered to look at the cat to ID what caused it to clog so early. This was important to me learning if it was a bad cat or if my engine was the problem. I asked for a quote on that and received $200 to $300 as the cost. This is the only quote i was provided.) 2) Complete work without providing a quote (turns out it was bad O2 sensors and the cat was not clogged. Instead of calling me with that update and providing a quote, he did the work and wanted to charge me $986.) Which leads to number three. 3) Austin will lie about pricing. When I questioned how $300 became $986 he relayed that was with the $75 discount and O2 sensors run 300 or 400 a piece. I informed the business that what was done is illegal and they cannot charge me more than 10% of what was qouted nor should they be doing work more than $100 without providing a qoute. When the other technician, Sean, called me to work this out he relayed not seeing the $75 discount applied. While the bill did decrease after pushing back, Austin deceptively said the final bill reflected 4 hours of work, one hour of initial diagnostics and the 3 hours I'd agreed to.....leaving out their rate is $150 an hour, not $100 an hour. I did not agree to $600 worth of diagnostic services. I agreed to $200 to $300 worth of diagnostics to learn why the cat was clogged, which turns out was absolutely unnecessary had Austin looked at the O2 sensors in the first place as part of initial diagnostics. Sean was great to work with. Austin exemplifies your mechanic worst nightmare.

When our Subaru wouldn't start and we had to have it towed, we took it to Eddie's. They took great care of us and were quick and affordable.

Editing my review from 2 years ago when Eddie was still around. Him and his work was awesome. Unfortunately, like most things these days, the quality was not retained by the next generation that took over. Was assured my service would be done same day after scheduling over a week out, and as I work two jobs and only have one car, appreciated that very much. However they bit off more than they can chew it seems like and after two full days of sitting I decided to just go elsewhere. The last couple times I had been there in the past year I could tell it wasn't the same as it once was, but this was the final straw. Maybe if you have a highly specific subaru only issue I would recommend them but for common things there's better (faster/cheaper) options in town.

Update July 2022: I took my vehicle into Eddies today (my first time since the shift in ownership) and the crew was incredibly helpful and friendly. They quickly figured out why my vehicle was aggressively idling and clicking and also quickly fixed the issue! Thank you! Old review: Fair prices and friendly staff. I go here for oil changes and maintenance. I can't comment on their repair services, but I would trust them.

I had a tricky mechanical issue with my Subaru and a friend recommended Eddie. He diagnosed, found a great deal on a part, kept me updated along the way, and delivered a repair for well under the expected price. The service was outstanding! I will definitely be back if needed.

I have a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek and the folks at Eddies do a great job keeping it in roadworthy shape. They have always gotten me in quickly, completed the work in a day, and have had the best price in my area. Austin is also great to talk to about what needs to be done and is respectful. 7/10/24 Update: Once again Eddies to the rescue! My AC went out and they got me in quick. Now I have abundant and glorious car AC.

I have been going here for years, and Austin keeps me coming back. Diagnositcs have been spot on, work has kept my 2003, 200k+ car going. He is upfront about costs, never hidden fees - if anything he foots the smaller fees for things that he may do just to make sure everything is golden. If its a bigger thing he always calls first. Its actually quite silly that I havent wrote a review yet, considering how many times the shop has been like "we noticed this, this was pretty broke coming out so we replaced it, no fee" i recently got my oil change there: so quick, but i mentioned my brakes might be due soon. He took a peak at them [gave me an honest timeline instead of fear mongering] and then saw my tires thread bare and lead me to another local trustworthy tire shop. Thats the shop's best quality. They are honest and give you choices - taking the time to explain what pieces affect what and the "why" to someone as inexperienced as me without once making me feel belittled. Then the shop puts it in your hands - he tells you the safety considerations of holding off or not [in this case, he told me that i needed to get one pair of tires changed asap but the other had a bit of life left on them, and as a courtesy - he even rotated the super bad pair of tires to the back (so if i go a flat this weekend it wouldnt be on the front)]. Austin has also been patient when he tells me the price and I tell him I need to make a few calls and check my bank account before i say yes - bless them for that. He gives accurate timelines for getting parts as well and will give you options as far as how you source those parts. Even a phone call to the shop is helpful, if you describe your issue. Its worth leaving a voicemail or calling twice. I promise you, they are there, they are just hard at work. Plus theres a cute antique peddlers mall in the same parking lot that is great shopping for quick fixes.

Took my 2014 outback in for it's 120,000 mile service. I asked what the cost would be, they couldn't quote me a cost because they don't automatically do everything listed in the manual, they evaluate and see if the services are needed which I appreciated. for $75 diagnosis fee they went through my car. generated a long list of services needed, very few were associated with the 120,000 service. I elected to have them replace spark plugs serpentine belt and do an oil change, which was part of the required service. I brought car home, elected to due the front brakes myself to save a little cash. One lug nut was cross threaded on the stud, could not remove it could not retighten it. I have to assume Eddies used impact wrench to start and tighten the lug nuts when they removed the wheel to look at the brakes. $120 and 4 hours later Les Schwabs had that lug nut removed and a new stud installed. Upon rereading the 120,000 service, I noticed that the fuel filter should be replaced. No mention of fuel filter from Eddies at all. Brake fluid should be replaced, I figured this was an item that they would test for moisture and replace if necessary. No mention of brake fluid from Eddies. I tested fluid at home with moisture meter it registered 2.5%, this requires changing. When I first madeI my appointment it was to drop off my car at 8:30 AM. come 4 PM I called to inquire about its readiness. I was told " we got slammed with customer and will not get to my Subaru today". What's the point of setting appointment times if walk ins take priority over appointments. I suspect the "slam" was B.S. Anyway, at 4:45 I get a call from Eddies, they had an extensive list of problems with the car, including new struts, tie rod end, front brakes, serpentine belt, etc. How they got from 4 PM of not getting to my car today, to 45 minutes later having an extensive list of problems to fix, I don't know. I certainly will not be back. I'd heard many good things about Eddies, it now appears that that was the old Eddies.

10/10 I would recommend Austen! He was very honest and fair while working on my Subaru wrx. I definitely trust him to do more work on my cars in the future. He’s very knowledgeable and knows what he’s doing. He really cares about his customers, he was updating us every day without us asking him too. He took great care of us. His pricing was great! His work is awesome!

Replaced motor and the Cat on an 08 Impreza along with small parts like water pump. Had a lot of problems and Austin did his best to keep the price as low as possible, it was the best price from Renton to Olympia. He kept to his estimate even when his suppliers wanted to raise it. Had a couple hiccups but, his customer service is unmatched. He had great communication. When I didn't know the part he was talking about he explain quickly and thoroughly. I'll definitely be going back here if/ when things break.

I have done business with Eddie's over 20 years. Fair pricing with no unnecessary work. Honest and patient. Since change of ownership, Manager Austin just continued ensuring people get the most out of their cars. I have a running 1999 Nissan Quest they have kept up (214,000 miles) and just rebuilt a 2000 Honda Accord that runs like a Swiss watch (159,000 miles). No regrets at all and highly recommend
