I’ve been a loyal customer of Exo Auto Works for over six years, but unfortunately, my recent experiences have been deeply disappointing. A heads-up for long-time customers: this business is now under new ownership, and in my opinion, the changes have not been for the better. The mechanics themselves continue to do solid work and have always treated me with respect — I truly appreciate their efforts. However, the management side, particularly my interactions with John (the new owner), has been incredibly frustrating to say the least. Communication has been poor, urgency around repairs is lacking, and attempts to discuss concerns have been met with defensiveness and dismissiveness. What I found most troubling was the unwillingness to take accountability or show genuine concern for customer satisfaction. Reading through responses to other negative reviews only confirmed my experience — rather than listening or trying to resolve issues, the tone is often argumentative and self-congratulatory. It gives the impression that customers who raise concerns are more of an inconvenience than a priority. I don’t take leaving reviews lightly, especially negative ones, but I felt it was important to share this so others can make informed decisions. I truly wish things had gone differently, but based on my experience, I can no longer recommend Exo Auto Works.

My vehicle was sabotaged on purpose for additional jobs wanting to be done on it. I was told it was never test driven after the work was completed honest to GOD, and the problem I brought it with persist amongst others and how does one ask to do more work/additional services without even fixing the main problem it was brought in for! My truck overheats faster than before and he says after I’m on side of the interstate with my life in danger, it needed a part about $20.00 to make it stop burning oil!!! But he was helping me proclaimed. I wish I never met John. My truck now does not start at allllll

I thought God sent the owner “JOHN” to me when he walked over advising that he wanted to help me after seeing me trying to fix my own truck over and over in the parking lot. He told me and my friend how he had a lot blessed with (3 shops) and just wanted to help us. My truck has problems it didn’t have before, worsening of the problem I was aware of that it had, and 10 minutes down the road I’m unsafe on side of the road without money for a tow. He billed finance company for work and parts that were not done and I’m now worse off than I was and now in danger.

EDIT: They blew my engine. I got the ole girl home and finally looked at it. There was no oil in it at all. Someone at the shop must have mistakenly drained my oil and I believe it was ran without oil for the test drive. I believe that is what seized my engine. The vehicle went in with oil, driving fine, and seized in their hands with no oil or record of draining oil. I top off my vehicles religiously and had checked my timing belt just before bringing it in. The tech I spoke to at the front seemed to believe me but the owner, John, did not. He disagrees. I think this is a fluke of an occurrence but given nothing can be proven, I am out of luck and out an engine. All I know 100% is it came back to me with just a couple of ounces of oil if that. Pictured below. I should also note that two of the bellhousing bolts, one on the starter and one on the driver's side, were only finger-tight. Brought my 1991 Isuzu Trooper here for a transmission diagnosis (rattle in gear on decel). They gave an awesome, detailed diagnosis compared to elsewhere, complete with photos. Their prices are also much lower than elsewhere, so I had the work done with them (rear main, clutch, input shaft seal). It was in the shop for about 5 weeks, some amount of that due to getting the parts which are hard to find on this old thing. The original estimate was about a week. Unfortunately after that, when they pulled it out of the shop I was told the timing belt tensioner slipped and my engine valvetrain is now seized. The truck had had a loose timing belt when I bought it, then I'd replaced it myself about 1600mi ago. Bad luck I guess that the belt fully gave while in their hands, but it is now going to leave the shop on a tow truck. They offered to help me out with any questions later on as I attempt to DIY fix it from here. They also offered me a free tow home if I leave a google review so here I am. Overall I had a good experience in spite of my truck perishing there. Nice fellas.

This shop was so quick and helpful with our vehicle repairs. We had a HUGE repair that we needed done and they got us in and kept us updated through every step. This all happened during the government shutdown (active duty family) and we had done EVERYTHING to have a savings and such going. I explained that I would be paying every penny we had and putting the rest on our credit card since we didn’t quite have enough to cover the bill. The manager stepped in and offered me comforting words and encouragement to get through this hard time. He had me pay most of the amount, and then told me not to worry about the rest. To go get groceries and gas for my family with what I had left. I cried with relief. I had prepared to cut meals for myself and my husband so our son could eat until the next paycheck. Thank you guys so much for your help. We’ll be back with more business for you I’m sure (lol it’s a crap car)

“its not our fault” should be the slogan for this shop. I brought my jeep in to them for a new head gasket. It took them 30 days to fix it. everytime I talked to them they’d say “should be done by tomorrow” then friday would roll around and still no call from Exo auto works. After an entire month of them trying their hardest to fix it. they finally call me to tell me it’s done. I was so happy the nightmare with this shop was over when I pulled out of the lot. and about 15 minutes later, all the coolant had leaked out and I was overheated on the side of the road. THEY DIDNT EVEN TEST DRIVE IT WHEN THEY WERE DONE. if they had, all the coolent would have leaked out because they forgot to hook the hoses up. The owner John will reply here and say that they offered to tow me back to them so that they could fix it, but I’m not confident they would have been able to. In fact I was so not confident that my jeep would run ever again that I had the tow truck driver they sent out take me to a dealership, rather than taking back to them to be lost in their incompetence for another month. PS. if you notice, all the bad reviews for this place start about a year ago. I wonder when the new owner took over the shop?

READ THE BAD REVIEWS FIRST. This place is terrible. The owner is dishonest. The only reason they get any good reviews is because they offer discount if you leave a review. STAY AWAY. If you like paying twice for one repair, being gaslit about it, and leaving with bonus noises, EXO Auto Works is your spot. Otherwise, save yourself the grief and find a shop where the owner doesn’t think sarcasm counts as customer service. Also, read the bad reviews for this place and then read owners responses. They are absolutely comical! I wish I had read them before taking my car to this disaster. Responding to bad reviews seems to be a favorite past time of John’s. Antagonism from behind the safety of his little screen. Zero stars.

I brought my car in for repairs and we agreed on a set price upfront. After the work was done, and literally 10 minutes before I was on my way to pick the car up, I received a call saying the total had increased by $300. This was never approved beforehand. I was put in a position where the work was already completed and I was expected to just accept the higher price. That is not okay and shows a serious lack of professionalism. Good shops communicate clearly and get customer approval before changing pricing. Springing extra charges at the last minute is extremely frustrating and feels deceptive. The communication throughout this process was poor, and the way this was handled left a very bad impression. I would not recommend this shop based on how pricing and communication were handled.
