I cannot say enough good about this repair shop. They do amazing work, they are efficient and can typically get you scheduled immediately, prices are very competitive, and they give you an honest diagnosis of what you need, vs want they would "like for you to do". Top all of this off with the fact that they are the utmost professionals combined with small town friendliness, makes my decision to use them for all of my automotive needs simple.

Federal way Automotive always does an amazing job on my vehicle. They go above and beyond to make sure my SUV is done with in a reasonable amount of time (usually 24-48 hours from the time I drop it off). They always listen to all of my concerns and have reasonable pricing. Tracy the receptionist always make sure to answer all of my questions and has great customer service. They actually fix the problem and don't "bandage" the problem.

I’ve had my cars serviced there twice now. Once for an engine light issue and most recently for bad coils on my daughters car. I feel that Ron and Tracy are honest, straightforward people who truly value all of their customers. Not only do they do exceptional work but, they guarantee the work and go above and beyond for us. I will happily take my car here in the future for any work needed as I know they are trustworthy and do great work. Not to mention you are treated like family when you walk in the door. It’s always a welcoming, warm and friendly atmosphere.

It's hard to find a repair shop that is honest and reasonable prices. Federal Way Automotive is my favorite after Bud Cleary in Auburn hosed me over, replacing parts that were perfectly fine. $5,500 for replacing my whole heater system when all it needed was an actuator. Buckys in Federal charged me $175 for part that I could buy for $25! There was labor charge on top of that. Tacoma Radiator charged me over $500 for a new radiator when all that was needed was a thermostat! Valley Buick in Auburn was going to charge me over $500 for 3 three coils which cost me about $160 OEM from Amazon for the three and took me about 30 minutes to replace. After taking my truck to Federal Way Automotive, I was pleased with their work and at a cost much less than any other repair shop in the Auburn/Federal Way area. Eddie, you are now my go to repair shop!

Hands-down the best customer service! great service and they make you feel welcome. I made a cold call on Tuesday morning to get my radiator fixed in my F550 not a common vehicle. I got my vehicle back by Thursday afternoon all fixed and shiny. There were a lot of garages that couldn’t even get me in for three weeks. Thank you for the great work!

Awesome, honest, and a good shop that I just found out recently. Now I am not a mechanic or expert compared to any automotive shop folks. But I know moderately about parts, how things work, and some basic modifications etc. I needed to find a shop that will take care of a broken AC suction line, and these folks are the go to place now. Even though the part didn't work out, they kept the pricing and promises fair. Even though there are shops around, I tend to establish a trust between those that are honest yet knowledgeable. Thanks you guys!

LOVE THIS PLACE! Hands down the best place to get your car worked on ! I’ve had to come to this place for the past few months due to not being so lucky with buying cars and every single time they was able to figure out what’s wrong with my cars ! And if they couldn’t fix it they sent me down the right direction. The last one being a transmission in my car and they got it running up in no time ! Thank you !

02/09/2025 Update. Reset rating to 3 stars after reviewing all recent works done by the shop. Replaced a burnt driver side door actuator (which I diagnosed and pointed out to the shop) for my minivan for $542.14 on Nov. 7, 2023. The driver side window of this minivan sunk to the bottom in September of 2024. It was diagnosed by the shop on October 2, 2024 with a window regulator problem and I paid $181.80 for the diagnosis. The minivan was later repaired by the shop for $360.64. I quickly found out that the window rolled up too strongly. But I decided just to avoid operating that window instead of taking it back to the shop for repair. When asked about warranty, I was told one year 12,000miles. I noticed this was not on the statement I got and was told that they keep a record of everything. My brakes are still going strong, probably because I haven't used this minivan often. It is my understanding that ownership has changed. Old review: Fixed my door lock problem promptly. Also had a break job done here several years ago and never had a problem.

Andrew was very easy to work with. I asked if they would install customer-provided parts and he confirmed. Set appointment, dropped off car Mon night, they stored my vehicle in their "cage" for security, had the job done by early afternoon the next day. One of the easiest repairs I've had done on any car.

Your service is excellent, however I didn't give a 5-star because of my last visit which was the 100,000 mile maintenance. The standard worksheet had a list of mandatory items to be serviced, but the boxes were not checked off. I assume everything was done, but I did not have validation that it was. Also I didn't have the separate brake inspection report attached. I am a detailed person and like details. I also should have noticed the lack of information when I picked up my car. I will be more aware next time. Thank you for providing good maintenance on my car.

Took the car in for diagnosis, one they didn't charge me and two instead of just doing the work let me know it wouldn't be worth it due to other issues saving me a huge headache down the road... Fantastic customer service.

I’ve been going to these guys for years since we moved to Federal Way and even with the transition of ownership they still take great care of us. They handle both our personal and business vehicles. They have great communication and fair pricing. They are knowledgeable enough to let you know what has to be done, what should be done and where you can save money excluding services that other shops would charge you for. I’ve never had to second guess their work…when they fix it it’s one and done.

Brought in a 2005 Toyota 4Runner for a pre purchase inspection. I trusted this shops great reviews, and paid them instead of driving my tools over two hours to inspect it myself. They wrote it off as perfect for a 20 year old car, and only mentioned the axle boots which I told them specifically to look at. Besides that they did not look at anything except potentially the compression test I paid extra for. Complete failure to find any of the glaring issues to the untrained eye. I found all of them within 10 minutes of my own inspection after bringing the vehicle home. AC Compressor is grinding ($1500+ job to do it right), poor bondo job on rear quarter panel indicating an accident, flaking clear coat on top of spoiler indicating cheap paint and aftermarket parts. Besides these issues, I wouldn’t care if not for the rust and 1+ inch of dirt and mud stuck inside the frame. Every single drain hole was plugged with potato chip sized, 1/8” thick rust flakes and dirt. What this mechanic did not know, which my uncertified self did know, is that these old Toyota’s biggest problem is frame rust, from the inside out. A very cheap, poor used-car dealership style undercoat over everything (including so much dirt) was all it took to trick this licensed mechanic, when it took me 10 minutes to figure it out, far too late. In an attached picture is a patch of painted over rust and the next picture is the hole i lightly tapped open with a hammer, these frames rust from the inside out. Also shown is an obvious rust hole and crack along the front right member along a factory weld. Now I’m stuck spending over $5000 to fix the issues with this vehicle. Side note - The tires are also 5 years old and show signs of dry rot between treads. Having saved two hours, is costing me tens of hours of my own time and thousands of dollars. Edit: the manager Eddy called me over this review and was “confused” why I made it once receiving a refund for the inspection only. Throughout this process he has made excuses saying “we are not body work professionals” and “well the car had been undercoated.” “They did not see it.” But again that’s the entire point, an untrained eye saw these issues within 10 minutes, and it did not take swinging a hammer to call out detrimental concerns of rust. Like pieces of a puzzle, the mud, dirt, clearly large rust flakes in every drain hole, and the poorly applied undercoating are pieced together as a red flag. Also, the bondo job shows a clear sign of an accident, even though the car’s record has none. I wish they would’ve pointed this out at their shop. Edit - the car had a distinct smell which I believed to be a dog, but I just found a rat’s next in the read headliner. Opening the cargo hatch and opening the headliner slightly was all it took to find.

We have all our cars serviced here, recently I brought my 1995 Porsche 911 for engine reseal (it was due). Federal Way Automotive did a great job and for a fair price. I feel confident each and every time. Thank you to the team!

One of the best experiences I have had getting my vehicle repaired. Thomas the manager, was able to get me in right away for a clutch replacement on my 342k mile Tacoma. He notified me about a failing main seal while changing the clutch which saved me money down the road. Thomas and his team are top notch. They would be my first choice if I needed any repairs.
