Ray, the owner, is amazing. He was quick, efficient and HONEST when diagnosing my vehicle. He actually SHOWS you what is failing in your vehicle, so you fully understand what is going on. The work was done quickly, the price was more than fair, and I was treated like royalty. I have never been this happy with a mechanic shop. I'm a loyal customer for life.

Ray and his crew are exceptional people. While he is in business to make money, Ray wants to take care of his customers first. I stopped by his shop to schedule an appointment for a transmission service. After talking with him about my need, he fit me into his schedule right then. He quoted me a price which was very reasonable. The transmission fluid my truck requires is considerably more expensive than I'm used to paying. Ray still completed my service for a very reasonable price. I give Ray and his crew a top shelf rating. He has a new customer for life. Thank you Ray. Mike W.

Extremely happy with my experience at Gear Head Automotive! Gear Head saved me a ton of money, that I would have lost had I gone through another company. My chevy pickup is running better than ever. I 100% recommend Gear Head.

I could never find a great place to work on my car without them up selling me or just not looking of for my best interest. This place is not the case. This place is the best and I will never go anywhere else. Ray is amazing he is your guy! He will take good care of you and get you the best pricing. John and Robert are so sweet they are the mechanics. If they find something wrong with your car, they will show you and back up their words which I really appreciate! Thank you guys so much! -Tanner

They were recommended by a mechanic who was too busy to work on my car and they earned all 5 stars. Their prices were 40% lower than other shops and they did great work, on time as promised. Ray is the owner and Rob was the mechanic that worked on my car, which now runs great.

This is a review which is LONG overdue, but it's a hardship that has been heavy on my heart, and I think others need to know about this con of a repair shop! Around January of 2023, my family brought our SUV into this shop to have the transmission repaired, to the tune of $4000, with a 1 year warranty. A couple weeks after getting our vehicle back, the transmission seemed to be having issues, so we brought it back to have it inspected, and were told nothing was wrong. Just a few short weeks after that my father, the vehicle's owner and who paid for the repairs, passed away, shorty after which the transmission failed entirely! In rush hour traffic no less! I had the car towed back to the shop to have it repaired under that warranty, only to be told it was the radiator which had ruined the newly "repaired" transmission, requiring repairs in excess of another $3000!! Upon receiving this information, I told the shop owner that I felt taken advantage of, to which he replied he wouldn't touch my vehicle moving forward. So much for that warranty, huh? We had to have the vehicle towed back home, and when we received my late father's SUV, the engine was literally in pieces on the passenger seat. They didn't even have the decency to put it back together before letting it be towed out of their shop! I recognize this review is about a year and a half late, but as I was remembering my late father the somber memory of my experience with Gear Head Automotive & Transmission comes to mind. I hope no one else has been scammed by them in this time, and I hope no one gets scammed moving forward. Please take your car and your money anywhere else!!!

I do not recommend this place to anyone. I started dealing with this company August of 2024 because they are in network with my SilverRock Warranty company. They fixed my turbo in August of 2024, car was fine after the fix. February of 2025, I went back to this shop for a wheel bearing/hub issue and they informed me I need to get the right hub/bearing replaced. He charged me $500 out of pocket and told me my warranty company was not going to cover it. I paid it. After the fix, my stabilitrack/ABS sensor started popping on the next day. I took it back and they said it was just a sensor. No help. No fix. Been driving with the sensor popping on and off after they touched my car. Forward to now May of 2025, my engine light started popping on and off. I didn’t feel safe or comfortable taking it back here so I found another in network shop that my warranty company deals with. I had took my car to the new shop, they had my car for 3 days and told me someone did the wheel bearing wrong and they were going to make a claim which alarmed me of what’s actually covered and not covered in my warranty.…. Come to find out GEARHEAD AUTOMOTIVE never called SilverRock warranty company to make a claim, to see if it was covered. I had SilverRock send me a form on what’s covered and what’s not covered in my warranty. My wheel/hub bearing is covered through my warranty when I read it. When he gave me the receipt, it had nothing about the work he did. So recently I informed my warranty company that he scammed me out my money by not putting a claim through the warranty company to see if it’s denied or covered. I went to his office and asked for a receipt, he calls Silverock and ask about the claim he never put in for my wheel bearing. The agent says I don’t see a claim but only for August of 2024, then Ray asked the agent if I was to put a claim in for her wheel/hub bearing today, would y’all pay for it? The agent said I don’t think so with this contract. I grab the receipt and walked out cause they doing a lot of thinking and not knowing. I went home and called SilverRock myself and asked if my wheel/hub bearings are covered under warranty. They said yes ma’am, it’s covered and you are still within your warranty term. He lied to the agent and said the man that fixed my car was supposed to call cause he was out the country. He wasn’t out no country because I dealt with him and the mechanic the entire time. He also told the agent he fired the mechanic that worked on my car but the man still is working on cars in his shop. Very unprofessional! They are LIARS HERE! They DO NOT FIX YOUR CAR CORRECTLY! THEY GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND AND THEY CHARGE YOU OUT OF POCKET AND TAKE YOUR MONEY WHEN THE PARTS AND LABOR IS COVERED UNDER YOUR WARRANTY COMPANY! Save yourself a headache! Bad bad business! Will never come back here ever again! If you are a woman, stay away and don’t get played by Ray and his team!!!

Gearhead was a lifesaver. We needed our car diagnosed and they were able to fit us in right away. Communication was great! Ray called me every step of the way and walked me through everything. Honest, great communication and willing to work with customers. I will do business with them in the future.

Hard to find an honest garage, this place is. I was here years ago for a repair and remember the owner being honest and fair. Had a major engine repair needed on my truck last month, brought it in for diagnostics a, agreed to the price up front for said diagnostics. They kept it longer than expected to give me a thorough answer, at the end of the day they wouldn’t do the job as they were not the best place for it and then waived the diagnostic fee. This place is a good, honest, fair place of business.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO to STAY AWAY FROM THIS MECHANIC SHOP. He is very DISHONEST and LAZY, charged me for work he NEVER DID. My husband took it in for the tranmission and was told it needed to be reprogrammed as well as the transmission mounts to be changed. My husband agreed to the work. Was charged for it. My husband was told the issue was taken care of. His car was still not running right so decided to take it in somewhere else. The mechanic at the new shop said the transmission mounts were in fact never changed. He showed us pictures of the cracked transmission mount. So we had to pay for it again. We always try to support small business owners. But be very careful who you pick. This mechanic shop is the worst.

A major issue we had was the mechanic’s lack of basic knowledge about the car. He looked at a number on the information cluster — the same screen that shows things like speed, MPG, and settings — and told us he thought the car was “stuck in 9th gear.” The car doesn’t even have 9 gears. The number he was looking at wasn’t a gear at all — it was just the page number of the information display. That level of misunderstanding from someone who’s supposed to be a professional was honestly shocking. It made it very clear that they had no idea what they were looking at, and it destroyed any confidence we had in their ability to diagnose or repair anything. I would seriously recommend finding a mechanic who actually understands the vehicles they work on.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this shop. We brought our car in for a specific problem, and instead of diagnosing the actual issue, they admitted they didn’t know what was wrong. They ended up “fixing” something unrelated, charged us almost $900, and the problem wasn’t solved at all. The car was still unsafe to drive when we picked it up. We paid a huge amount of money for a repair that didn’t address the issue, and we were basically left in the same (dangerous) situation we came in with. When you take your car to a mechanic, you expect honesty, proper diagnosis, and safety. We got none of that here. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before trusting this shop with anything serious.

I was very happy with the service I received at Gearhead Auto Shop. I had a leak in my engine and the owner and mechanic took time to look my engine over and explain what was wrong and what I needed done. The next day on Christmas Eve the mechanic (Rudy) came in and fixed my truck. I recommend Gearhead Auto Shop to everybody for great service and friendly and reasonable employees. Thank you Ray.

We also had a terrible experience with their diagnosis. They told us the car only had two options: sell it to a junkyard for $500 or pay for a brand-new transmission — and this is coming from a shop that claims to specialize in transmissions. Turns out the car did not need a new transmission at all. Their diagnosis was completely wrong, and if we had believed them, we would have either thrown away a perfectly good car or spent thousands for no reason. Being told something that serious by a “specialist” is alarming, especially when it wasn’t true. It feels like either they didn’t know what they were doing or they were trying to push an unnecessary, extremely expensive repair.

I have been taking my cars to Gearhead Automotive for a few years now. One car had an engine replaced, ac repaired. The second was a explorer that had injector issues and ac issues. The third was a driveshaft and engine mounts. The fourth was ac. Ray has always been upfront on pricing, and does not give any run around on what needs to be done. He has more then fair pricing. The turn around and timing has been excellent. With out Ray my family would have been on foot more than once! Thanks for everything Ray!

I purchased a 2016 GMC sierra and It had major issues with the engine and electrical wiring. Gear head automotive were able to diagnose and provide options for remediation with full transparency. Ray and his team are knowledgeable and true masters of their craft. If you want your vehicle fixed right, bring it to this shop. Highly recommended.
