Really felt cared for. Went above and beyond to explain a complex situation and gave me multiple options to consider. Will be back in the future if needed.

Mike, the Owner of GT (General Transmissions) is the King of Transmissions. He has the transmission rebuild down to a science. Loves working on Fords! All mechanics are ATRA & ACE certified. Timely (done early!). Respectful. Process start to finish is clear. Gave me a super Flat-Rate bid with tax on parts so I could relax. Thrilled--my 1996 157K Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer runs like new.

In shelter in place day, My car tire has nail in it when I driving by, I ask a guy in the shop for help, he is very kindly to help me take it out. I feel very thankful! Without that I can't buy my daily need.

No kidding, I found a honest transmission shop. Had my suburban towed in, wouldnt go into gear. Making a grinding noise. Figured it was the transmission (happens on 2001 suburbans). Quote was about $3,000. Price was fair. They called me two days later and told me it wasent the transmisison, it was the rear differential. This repair is about $1,000 less. And some icing on the cake, they asked me if I wanted to save another $500 by not going to posi (differential term). I dont tow or off road, drive in the snow, posi isint necessary. And without posi I will get better gas mileage (hallelujah in a suburban). They could of charged me the $3,000 and I would of never known. I hope I never have to see them again (LOL), but if I or you need transmisson or differential work, this is the place to go.

I had Steve check out my car is transmission for me, he was totally upfront about all cost. And he took the time 2 check it out for free which is kind of unheard of in the transmission world. Unfortunately my car is a piece of junk so I won't be fixing the transmission but when I do need a transmission this will be the guy that I trust

I just called Steve and he could of put me over a barrel and charged me for something that wasn't wrong really wrong with my new rebuild transmission that was serviced by a company 45 months ago that is now out of business. I felt it was shifting to hard and I could feel it. Turns out it's actually better and the shifting you never feel is only for our comfort. Short short... there is no slippage in my transmission but the could tweak it for a fee if I want. 2000 Chevy Silverado. Work purposes. Naw. It's ok. And Steve is a straight shooter. Thanks

I brought my 93 Toyota pick-up here after another place told me I needed a new transmission. They found out it only a bushing and could fix it for for less than 200 bucks. I had them do a clutch job for me as well and the truck is running great!

When I thought I had to spend over $4k on a new transmission, I took my van to General Transmissions to fix it but later Steve called me to let me know all I needed to do was change the axel. General Transmission are honest people and highly recommend their services.

Stellar! Amazing! If all businesses gave service like this, Heaven would be on Earth! I went in to get a quote for rebuilding my fullsize Chevy work truck transmission (it's a 4x4 btw). I got a reasonable price and a guarantee for I believe around two or three years (I think it has already been 4 or 5 years since the job was done). It was still a sizable investment for me on a fairly old vehicle. First thing, because of my concern for quality and technicalities, the owner gave me a tour of his shop and quickly showed me the involved process in rebuilding the transmissions. I was blown away at the level of detail and the fact that at the time I was visiting, the owner seemed to be the head technician with his ultra experienced hands. The job was done in a reasonable amount of time. A year or two after the job was done, I started to notice a shifting issue in the lower gears. I took the truck back a bit nervous about warranty related issues. After looking at the problem and determining that it likely had to do with their rebuilding effort, without any further hesitation or resistance, they booked an appoinment for me and rebuilt the transmission again! OMG, how can these guys have so much integrity and be so reasonable and courteous the whole time they are providing service? Well they did it and that is my account and the trucks transmission seems flawless nearly five years later. I hope their business stays open for many years and they are blessed to be able to provide this reasonable and quality service for more people. Thank you General Transmissions!

Steve and Michael quality work. I had to get my transmission fully rebuilt and they quoted me a fair price and got it done in a couple days. Somehow during that time my side passenger mirror got broken. Steve and Michael recognized that it happened while my car was in there care and they immediately offered to replace it for free. If you're looking for honest guys that do good work, look no further and go to general transmissions.

Updated 11/2025. I stopped by GT to find it is closed. Talking to his neighbor, it sounds like the shop just closed, not explanation. Sad, because this was my go-to transmission shop. The owner knows his stuff. More than that, he actually cares about his customers. He fixed my transmission almost a year ago. I called him recently with a transmission question, which he answered knowledgeably. Then, he called up the dealership to check if there were any recall issues, and reported back to me. My F150 was made for the Canadian market, so the recall found didn't apply. But, it was tremendous to get a call from him. I'll always recommend GT.

Thank you for servicing the transmission on my 2004 BMW. I appreciate your honesty in letting me know the cost, the work you were going to do, and how friendly the former owner was. She makes good coffee. Sorry I talked so much. :)

Brought my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek in due to intermittent transmission slipping. Steve was able to diagnose an intermittent issue with pertinent questions and took the time to explain the transmission issue(s) and possible solutions. The repair was timely and the car is runner like new! Nice to know that there are knowledgeable mechanics out there! Thank you Steve.
