Zero stars. Stay away from this business and go anywhere else. The owner is very rude even thought I was trying to be extra nice. It was the most unpleasant conversation I ever had. It was about me trying to enter from the wrong door which I quickly realized and used the right door. I admitted that I didn't see the sign which, by-the-way, is easy to miss because there are 6-8 signs on the store-front. At the end he said my vehicle failed the SMOG check and said nothing more. When I asked for details he said first make the payment and then go read the print-out he is going to hand me over. I felt cheap for choosing him even though he had bad reviews, just because he offers lower price in the area. So, this is totally on me.

Called ahead after reading the reviews and seeing the coupon. When I arrived, I found out that the coupon only applies to 2000 and newer vehicles and mine is a '97 Toyota. He wanted $78.20 the absolute highest price I've ever been quoted.

This place was great! The new owner is very friendly and efficient. The price can’t be beat. I asked around and other places were charging much more even though it’s a quick service. The older reviews seem to be for the prior owner, so keep that in mind. It’s expensive and time consuming for the new owner to change the business name so he’s trying to slowly overcome those negative reviews with his own good service and low initial prices. Very convenient location and there was no wait first thing in the morning.

Fastest smog check ever. Gave them 5 stars originally. HOWEVER, 3 weeks later, I got a letter from the DMV saying that my car registration was being cancelled because I did not have a smog check on file. I called Green Smog and they said "not our problem, take the documentation in to the DMV office and have them sort it out."

The owner was extremely rude to me (I don't want to presume that he is racist toward me as an Asian male while he was polite to another non-East Asian guy before me when I arrived but I'll be honest with my feeling). However, the service was done quick and the result was sent to DMV electronically. Will never return in the future and do NOT recommend.

Great pricing along with great service! When the invoice rang up higher than what was written on the coupon, the owner patiently explained the extra costs for SUV and certificate. The second time I went back, the owner even said thank you when I left. Don't know why so many complaints about rude behavior. I'll be a regular for sure!

Very rude with the customers. Smog check was quick but the behaviour of the guy doing smog check was one the worst I’ve experienced so far.Left the place feeling very bad. He also charged me extra than what was advertised. Avoid this place, there are tons of other smog checks in the same area.

I have brought my cars here for smog checks for years. I’d say about a decade so every other year that is five times. There was another owner about 2 or 3 years ago. He was okay but not the friendliest. What he was, was efficient. The last two times I’ve gone it has been a new owner who is very friendly. He also set up a dining area and has encouraged several food trucks to come there. So now I get efficiency, friendly and a meal. Always check if they have a coupon. He’s even accepted it if it’s expired. The last time I went I gave him my car. I then ordered some food and sat down. By the time my food was ready the smog check was finished. The food prep was not slow either, it was just that the smog check was that fast. I don’t know why the negative reviews if it is for the new owner. He’s a 180 from the previous owner. This is my go to spot.

I saw a $31.75 coupon on the website and went in for an inspection. After the inspection, I showed the coupon at payment, but they said the coupon had to be shown before the inspection. I ended up paying $60. If you plan to use the coupon, make sure to show it before the inspection.

*New Owner* since 2022. He is opposite of the previous owner and cares for the customers. I had an excellent experience and the price was the best I got on that day around Santa Clara. Green Smog is again my go to place for smog certification. *** Review from 2020 below is for the previous owner*** 3 star Quick in and out, depending on day and time. Open on Sunday. It is a test only and STAR certified Station. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done. There are a few chairs for waiting in the viewing area. Yelp checkin of $29 is no longer valid, so it's quite expensive now.

TLDR: Shameful behavior from a business owner. Even if you get a coupon in the mail to this business, do not give him your money. If this is how the average person walking in through the door is treated, Green Smog needs new management AGAIN. Got a coupon in the mail for a reasonable smog check at this location, which prompted my father and I to walk in on a weekday morning. I hadn't checked out the reviews prior to showing up, which I have a habit of usually doing, but I noticed the "under new management" sign in the front window; promising, I thought. Upon walking in, a short, stout man with glasses greeted us and asked if we had papers from the DMV. My dad said no, to which the man said no problem...only to follow it up 30 seconds later with "no papers, $5 extra charge." First red flag. When we asked the man if he could look up our car information in his system (a completely reasonable request), he snapped at us quite rudely, "It's your car and your car's information, you expect me to have it in my system?" Second red flag. Every licensed smog shop uses a state-connected computer system that pulls your car’s information once they enter your license plate or VIN, and that's exactly what he would have had to do since we didn't come with our letter from the DMV. He just wanted to be paid an extra $5 for it, maybe to recoup the losses of the coupon. For some reason, my father is still considering giving his business to an individual completely undeserving of it, and asks a final clarifying question: "How much is the price of the smog check again?" I can't recall verbatim what the man's response was, but it was something condescending very along the lines of "You gave me the coupon and you don't know how much it was for?" Third red flag; at this point, the disrespect towards customers is not a one-off, but a pattern. People who expect business but interact with potential customers in the tone, manner, and with the disrespect he'd shown us need to be called out and held accountable, and I did so verbally before we exited the business. He swore back at me (very professional), and he's incredibly lucky I actually didn't hear what he was saying. Even if you get a coupon in the mail, do not waste your time and money here. There are plenty of other businesses offering reasonably priced smog checks without the side of disrespect. The man we encountered was extremely disrespectful, and if this is how he treats the average customer, Green Smog clearly needs new management AGAIN.

Owner/Worker is quite rude, unwelcoming and condescending. I rarely give reviews and normally very positive and always give benefit of doubt but I will never go here again. You can easily find 40$ smog tests anywhere else who has better attitude and wants customers.
