I was recommended to go to Tom's Auto Repair by a local friend when my car broke down on a roadtrip up the coast. I went to the adjoining auto shop by mistake. After recognizing what a big mistake I had made, I came here and explained what had happened, and Tom's had me on my way in 10 minutes.

So, I called on Friday to make sure you'd have capacity to look at my vehicle on Saturday. I wasn't going to just drop in on you. You said yes and I agreed to be there just as soon as you opened. I was there, early. You were not. That makes my Word good and your's, well, something else. The man who was there (yet quite clearly didn't want to be, poor guy) told me you wouldn't be in for another 1.5hrs. He told me that I could leave my vehicle and it "might" get looked at today. Ha! That's not what was agreed on. Not when I altered my day to keep up my end of the bargain. Bottom line: You lost business. I think I can wait another week for what I need done, and I'm going somewhere down the street. And, Full Disclosure, I can't speak to the quality of your service. We never got that far. You blew it at the front door. Maybe this place is great, but by my direct experience, their word is junk.

Been going to this mechanic for a couple of years now... Tom is a straight shooter and will let you know your quote ahead of time every time. I have had work done from other shops along El Camino and it always ends up being more costly for whatever reason, rather than with just going to Tom's first.

Took in a Honda SUV with some of the warning lights flashing on the dashboard. A bit of Internet searching had made it sound like the problem could be with the spark plugs or ignition coil, which was exactly what was found. Prices were as expected for this type of repair and parts, and service was very fast. Very pleased, and we'll come back.

great service, great advice, great prices. Gone to him for a couple years now after a recommendation from a friend, zero complaints. had them fix broken suspension, engine misfires, and other regular maintenance items. no mechanic mistakes so far, prices are always low compared to anybody else in the area who still has teeth in their mouth, and they always provide great feedback for cheaper and more expensive alternatives to the repair (new vs used, replace a regular wear item while you're in there, etc.). Anybody who had a bad experience, no offense, but it's probably because you didn't understand what they were telling you and didn't trust them; which is too bad, because i'd be shocked if they didn't give you a great result at a great price, it just ended up costing more than you were expecting (welcome to the world of car repairs).

I just read the review below & am very surprised as I had the complete opposite experience. Tom did a tune up on my aging & ailing 1989 Suburban. I thought he did an excellent job, it ran better than ever. I will go to him again!

Thought Tom was doing me a "favor", but installed a "rebuilt" engine that was garbage. Stalled out in gear on the freeway. When I went back, he just kept saying "trust me, it's fine".... it was not, I went to another mechanic and now my 25 year old truck runs like new. If I could have reported him on a timely manner, I would have.

Good Service I went to Larry Hopkins first for car servicing. A17. They generated a report of car and told that i needed Engine Air Filter and Cabin Air Filter to be cleaned. Total cost mentioned was $160 by the attendant. I was skeptical. So i told them i would do later. Called Tom's Auto Repair and they told me that it will be done with $60. Recommend people to use Tom's Auto Repair. You wont be looted there unlike Larry Hopkins Honda.

TL;DR: quick, professional and affordable service The skid plate on my car got dislodged at the car wash not too far from Tom's Auto Repair. After stopping by three other repair shops that turned me away, Tom took my car in on a walk-in appointment and reattached the skid plate for $25. I was in and out of the shop in less than 20 minutes. Thanks for the help!

I'll happily drive to Tom's for all my auto repair because of his honesty. Last year I was told by my dealership that I needed $1600 in repairs to fix an alignment issue. Tom diagnosed this as a much smaller problem ($50). If you want honest, cheap, but great auto repair, then Tom is your auto shop.

Have been going to toms for a few years now. He had a great set up when it was just him.... don't understand what happen..This last time I needed front brake pads replaced... I even bought them and came with them. It took no more then 20mins. So as a business sure get me for an hour of work that's OK with me. But when I went to pay the bill was 230....Remember I have done business there for years and I've always let things go like when they brake calibers multiple times or when they crack brake lines.... but now it's to much Tom is a great guy but the way things are done I don't agree with for a quick swap of front brake pads no material just labor and saying it was 20mins is given some extra time which right on it got done quick but to put a 230 dollar pay on that no that is no different than stealing the money with a knife and mask..... last time I go there what a shame we are talking about years of repeat busy he has recieved from me not impressed dude good luck out there. One last thing tom is a good guy so I really didn't want to write this, and one reason I didn't do one star.One star is the worst of worst... wouldn't be right of me to do I'm a business owner as well I'm a 5 star company for a reason I don't rip people off....I do what I say I'll do and I do it correctly even if I take a lose.... Not every transaction do you have to bleed every penny out of people you depend on for your company's survival. Again really disappointed in what I experienced there today....highway robbery.....

Tom is fast and very fair in pricing. A local Audi shop quoted me over $3k to change the drive axles and I had to get a second opinion. Luckily a friend recommended that I see Tom! Very nice owner! I had a scratchy noise from my rear brakes and had taken my car to Jiffy Lube twice, but they told me my brakes were fine. The owner, however, showed me that my rear pad was completely worn and scratching the rotor and sensor. He did an excellent job replacing the pads and sensor and kindly explained everything to me. Highly recommend—will definitely come back for future auto care!
