I’ve been looking for a great auto shop in Minneapolis since moving here in 2018 and I have finally found one I trust! I had a great experience going in for an oil change today. Brian is the friendliest guy and was honest in his report of what they found in my car with no pressure to purchase anything just awareness. Will definitely be bringing my vehicle here again the future!

I had an oil change and asked them to check the front brakes ( they were making a grinding noise). They said the brakes had 1/2 wear left. I returned a month later because of the continued brake grinding. They checked them again and said it was brake pad rubbing against rust on the rotor. I returned for an oil change and they found the front brakes completely worn to the point of damaging the rotors. I'm sure they never checked the brakes the first two times I asked. I then had a flat tire on the right front and found a broken wheel stud. They must have broken it during the brake job and never told me. I'm never going back there. 3 times, you're out! Update: Hawkins called me and offered to fix the broken stud for free. I appreciate providers who stand behind their work. They fixed it and I thank them for it.

I'm disappointed it took me so long to find these guys. I spent years taking my car to an automotive chain for repairs and maintenance, and each time there would be some frustration with them either trying to overcharge me in the middle of the job, or doing poor quality work. Not the case with Hawkins Automotive. I only had a battery replacement this time, but that is a more involved task on a 2017 Mini Countryman. Nick was awesome. Not only did he have the lowest estimate for the job, the actual price came out to be slightly lower. They are easy to communicate with, honest, transparent, and EFFICIENT. They even went above and beyond in getting a couple of smaller tasks done at little to no cost. I think I have a regular mechanic to go to from now on.

Headed over to Hawkins after receiving an outrageous quote for discovered repairs that somehow needed immediate attention from a certain Bloomington based Toyota dealership. I was pretty transparent with the folks at Hawkins about what the suggested repairs from the dealership were and they absolutely could've just charged me a little less to do the same repairs, but instead, they did an honest check up and deduced that those repairs were not at all necessary. What I thought was going to be a $1600 fix is going to come in around $100. I'll be recommending Hawkins to anyone who'll listen.

Started off with a great experience, however I will not be back. They are extremely friendly, and for the most part very honest. It’s overall a good shop. I brought it in again for very minor idling issue, they could not diagnose it as no light was on. They did recommend throttle body cleaning, so I did so when I got my next oil change. Upon getting my car back, it has a very bad idling issue (much worse than it was when I brought it in) and also has a check engine light. I was told that they couldn’t do anything about the labour charge in regards to that. I have never in my life received my vehicle in worse condition than I brought it in until now. To say I’m dissatisfied is an understatement. I will now need to take my car elsewhere to fix the issue that this has caused. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this shop after this past experience.

Outstanding service, professional, honest and friendly. I have taken my BMW X5 there for years, and they have saved me several thousand dollars. First time I took it there, I thought I was going to have to sell it. Nope. They saved my coolant system for so much less than the dealer. They are speedy, efficient and thorough. While they suggest things that might need to be done soon, they aren't pushy. They never treat me differently because I'm a woman. They take great care of me and my car, and they will take great care of you, too!

Today was my first time visiting Hawkins Auto, and I wanted to say that I will definitely be back! All of the workers I met were so kind, and when they found the problem they did an amazing job explaining it to me (someone who knows absolutely nothing about anything to do with cars). They got me in so quickly, took incredible care of me, and got my car back to me by the end of the day. Took my Challenger in to have a check engine light diagnosed for a cylinder misfire. The shop called back and said it was a bad spark plug—pretty standard maintenance, no surprises there. What did surprise me was the quote: $1,000 to replace all 16 spark plugs (V8 Hemi), or $400–450 just to replace the two on the misfiring cylinder. I’m not usually the type to say, “I could do that cheaper myself,” but in this case it was true. I bought all 16 spark plugs for $50 and a few tools for $25. With no prior experience, I replaced all of them in about two hours. The idea of charging $1,000 for spark plugs—or $400 for just two, when they were already pulled—is excessive. At minimum, if two plugs were out, replacing them with new ones instead of reinstalling the bad ones should’ve been standard. In the end, I paid $150 for the diagnostic alone, and that was enough to decide I won’t be returning. On the positive side, the staff were very friendly and the shop itself was nice. Unfortunately, the pricing left me feeling like they either don’t want the business or they’re taking advantage. Either way, not the kind of shop I can trust.

Took my Odyssey to Hawkins for a timing belt and water pump service, with a few other small items. Nick was extremely professional and courteous, did a quick diagnostic on the car, and found an issue with a front ball joint and leaking axle. He provided an honest assessment of how critical each item was, and then proceeded to provide budgetary estimates for everything. After approving the items that were of most importance, Hawkins completed the work quickly (same day) and at a very reasonable cost. Overall I'm very happy to have found Hawkins and will they will now be my go-to mechanic.

The Hawkins Team did a great job on my 3 Series BMW. I thought I needed brake pads all around the car and ended up only needing a sensor replaced that was a fraction of the cost of a brake job. Nick also made a recommendation of some additional repairs with an honest assessment and ballpark price for a future repair. I will continue to use their services in the future and would recommend them to anybody needing service on their car.
