Horrible service - I went to get an estimate, they made me wait 20 minutes and then took pictures of the damages on the car and told me they would call me - never got a phone call. Any other place you go to get estimates they tell you right away or call you on same day. Go next door to Pacific Collision Center or even a Maaco, as these people are very unprofessional and unreliable.

This was my first time here. Will never be coming back here again. This place was recommended by American tires so I brought my truck here for an alignment (just an alignment). Went everywhere else (almost all the shops in Long Beach) and no one would do it due to my truck being low. When the guy with a thick grey mustache comes to check my car out he takes a long pause at my car then looks at me a takes another pause with a look on his face expressing “you’re an idiot for doing this to your truck” (keep in mind my truck is low but not ridiculously low) the disrespect was real. Thought this place was going to be able to help me but instead he tries to over pricing me and tries to convince me in spending almost $200 for an alignment and diagnostic test (which I didn’t ask for or need to begin with) to check all the ball joints and bushings and everything else, When I tell him I recently switched all the ball joints and bushings and there’s no need for that he has a surprised look on his face and asks me “you...you did it yourself?” as if he thought I didn’t know anything about cars or something, I answered with a “yes”, then he tells me “look if we’re going to do this, we’re going to do this right”. When I ask for the price he tells me $47 for alignment, $45 for something I didn’t ask for, and another $40 for diagnostic test (again I didn’t need or ask for), he also tries to tell me I need to roll my front left fender so the tire won’t rube, I try explaining that the tire won’t rube, but he insist I go home, roll the fender (just one fender and not the other), come back, and then he will be able to “get the job done right”. Then he tells me “look, I’m trying to save you money”. Not sure if he thought I was a Rookie or a complete idiot, or if he was overpricing me because he knew no other shop would want to do it, but like anyone with comen sense I didn’t go back. I know some shops over price and try to sell you things you don’t really need but from the way the shop looks inside and out I didn’t expect this from them. I guess you really can’t judge a book by its cover. Instead I went to a shop a friend of mine recommended, it’s called 714 TIRES they got the job done in a timely matter, didn’t try to over price me, very very reasonable price, didn’t ask me to do any modifications to my car in order to “get the job done right”, and showed mad respect for me and my car after it was done.

The guy at the front desk was so Rude and unprofessional while his guys were checking out my car. Trying to diagnose what was wrong with my brakes he comes out and says to take my car elsewhere because it's not high end. My car doesn't have brakes it had to be towed to this location and tows aren't free and i had to pay another 500 to get it back home .

Came here with a difficult project with my '55 T-Bird. Was happy to find knowlegable people who had worked on Y-Block Fords in the past. Issue was resolved perfectly. Very pleased.

Herb's is the best automotive shop I've worked with. I've wrenched on automobiles my entire life, and as such I'm hesitant to take a car or truck to a shop; I've been taken advantage of in the past, and I have a healthy distrust for money-hungry mechanics. But my '90 Toyota Tacoma SR5 needed its rear end rebuilt—a job I couldn't handle myself—and a friend told me, "Take it to Herb's." I immediately knew Rodney and the team at Herb's would get the job done right and without any B.S. They charged a fair rate, did superlative work, and now my truck runs better than ever. If you love your car or truck, don't think about where to take it ... take it to Herb's.

I've used Herb's a couple of times for a '96 Jaguar, not the easiest car to work on. They did excellent work for the agreed price, no ups ands or bits. I will be back.

Can't say anything bad. It's the cleanest shop, work bench, floor, tools, office,(coffee in the am) even the outside ciean.. Body and Paint are proud of the work they do. Do it right the first time. As for services the greatest. Only one time in TWENTY YEARS plus did I return for minor adjustment. Jake and mom Eva will make you feel at home. Give them a try,

I've had three vehicles worked on here. Everything from an engine rebuild, AC repair, heater repair and paint/body work. Never disappointed. Work is done when they say it will be done and always done right the first time. I've never had sticker shock or been nickel & dimed like some other shops I've used in the past. Highly recommend this place.

I've been taking my cars to this place for YEARS. Personal service and reasonable prices. They work with you if you're on a tight budget with ranking must be done, needs to be done soon, would be good to take care of. And they are realistic about how long repairs will take. They don't promise tomorrow if they know it's going to take a couple of days, which I really like! And they check the WHOLE car for problems if you want them to. And they keep you in the loop on what is needed, cost, and time it will take.

I'm new to the Long Beach area and needed to find a reliable place to service my 2015 Honda Civic. Herb's is great! Not only did they perform a routine service quickly, with a smile, & at a reasonable price, they had someone give me a ride to/from the place I was going during the service period. They also took the time to look at the vehicle as a whole, beyond the immediate areas needing service, just to be sure everything looked good. The icing on the cake... they fixed a small problem with the front bumper at no extra charge. I am so impressed and want to spread the word. Thanks to Mark, Luis and the others behind the scenes, for the great service... I will definitely be back!

Referred to by America's Tire store on Cherry Ave for alignment. This is an overdue review. Owners have been made aware it would be written. It appears different people have dramatically different experiences at this shop. Allow me to share mine, starting with the positive: -Clean shop -Catchy logo and signage I have been giving Herb's my business for a handful of alignment jobs. Historically, they had been prompt and reasonably priced. I have spoken with Jake (the founder's son) and his mother with the picture-perfect hair. They had earned enough of my trust that I was willing to give them a bigger job. In preparation for an upcoming drive, I asked Rodney (primary sales guy) to change lubricants for engine, transmission, differential, and brakes. I get a call from the shop later that day asking if I wanted to change the battery. The engine had been starting without issue, but in an act of good faith, I permitted the battery swap. After all, in order to get to know business associates, one has to allow them enough freedom to reveal character. This should've triggered my Spidey-senses. When I picked up my car later that afternoon, the bill was in excess of $500, which felt excessive for fluid swap. Didn't have my reading glasses, but paid nonetheless. It wasn't until I got home that I was able to assess receipt, one line item at a time. It is important for the owners to know the type of reputation their team is creating in the community. Either win advocates, or earn critics. The next couple of days, I drove around town but couldn't get into first gear. Apparently they overlooked replacing a fluid they had charged me for. That meant having to go back to Herb's shop to give them more of my time to fix something that should've been taken care of the first time around. More time away from work, from family. It felt like they didn't respect my time or patronage. Thus, this well-earned review. I had given Rodney an opportunity to make things right, and his response was a "free" alignment job, which I won't redeem because my confidence in their operational ability and trustworthiness is spotty at best. The only reason I have given this business two stars is because I feel they have the capacity to do good work-- when they want to. Aside from that, I would steer clear of a business which has temperamental quality of work and will charge you for items your car doesn't need. The role of a subject matter expert is to build confidence in clientele (a.k.a., the funding source). In this regard, it is obvious this value isn't a primary objective incorporated into the culture of this organization. It's unfortunate their business model is to win short gains instead of developing life-long partnerships. I have a feeling this business was founded upon different principles than what it is currently operating under. Long Beach, Strong Beach.

Spoke to Jake on the phone because I had some questions. He went out of his way to take my number and help me get the information I needed, and texted it back to me. What great customer service; I feel like service like this is rare these days

My family and I have been taking our cars to Herb’s for years and are extremely satisfied with the level of care our vehicles have received. It has always been a quick diagnosis and fix and Jake, the owner, is always very communicative with us both in-person and over the phone and doesn’t try to up-charge us.

Jake and his team at Herbs auto restored a very sentimental vehicle for me. My late father’s 1955 Oldsmobile 98. It had not been running for 20+ years when I towed it to the shop. The end result/restoration is excellent and I am so happy. Jake is very kind and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!
