Rick and the guys at Hermantown Service Center have been working on my vehicles for over 15 years and I had been happy with their service.....until recently.....I referred my son to them to repair his Subaru that was over heating. HSC knew that the vehicle was overheating and based on the the mechanics recommendation my son invested $1950, which was over $450 more than they had originally quoted. After paying he drove away thinking that he had a car that would get him around. 2 days later the car over heated. My son brought his car back and the mechanic told him that the head gasket was blown and it would be $1600 to fix it.....the mechanics had not checked the head gasket.....which is the first thing that should have been checked on a Subaru boxer engine. The sad part of this story is that Rick from HSC would not stand behind his work.....he told my son that he absolutely not help him in any way. Very disappointing......I would not recommend that anyone use Hermantown Service Center.

Friendly, small locally owned shop that will answer all of your questions. They will explain what happened, how parts work, what they did, and what to look for in the future with a problem. They won't rip you off and replace something that doesn't actually need replacing. They treat women like any other person, and don't take advantage of them if they don't know cars. My favorite place to support.

Exceptional service, upfront with customers start to finish. If a particular issue can be more efficiently handled by a specialist, in my case, exhaust system work on a 95 Saab, they will tell you, giving honest recommendations when asked. Highly recommended group of top tier mechanics.

Review Title: Poor Quality Repairs and Lack of Accountability I had an extremely disappointing experience with Hermantown Service Center. I paid $1500 for a new clutch, only to have it fail again a month later. The car exhibited the same issues as before, and when I contacted Rick about it, he accused someone of abusing the clutch, which was not the case. To make matters worse, after I sold the car, the same problem occurred with the new owner, proving that the initial repair was inadequate. Hermantown Service Center failed to stand behind their work, and I was left feeling cheated and frustrated. I would not recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy auto repairs.

I've used the Hermantown Service Center since my brother Scott started it with Rick. Scott moved on a couple of years after but I've stuck with Rick and his crew all these years. They run an honest professional shop with great customer service. These guys are real mechanics, not just parts changers.
