Check engine light was coming on, took it to Ho's because he came recommended by friends. They were 30 mins late to open, I was told by an employee I would get a ride home, which was not true. Ho reprimanded the employee in front of me and did not give me a ride. Weeks later my check engine light goes on again. I take it to another mechanic, who tells me the last person who worked on the care left some rubber in the engine, which melted and that had damaged the the vehicle.

Ho's Automotive is an excellent car repair shop. Mr. Ho is reliable, very competent and honest. 2 years ago Ho's Automotive did fix my Ford Taurus (that did not pass the DEQ for 3 consecutive times, after taking it to different mechanics) for about half the price that was given to me by other shops' estimates. Since then my Ford had no more problems. My daughter's Volvo, a few months ago, became a nightmare with volvo specialists unable to determine what was the car's problem and changing the timing belt twice, Ho's Automotive was able to fix it and now the Volvo runs well. We live far from Ho's Automotive but it is worth to do some miles; this shop now is our family's mechanic. I would recommend Ho's Automotive to any one in need of car repair and DEQ independently from the make and model of the car.

My son spent 2000$ here and none of the work was done . At least no car damage was done . I called to talk to someone about it . And was told to call back later and got hung up on. Vary quickly. I could of gave this shop lots of Mercedes and newer vehicle business. Unfortunately for them.

If you want a honest car repair, go to Ho's Automotive Inc. I spent thousands of $ on my Volvo and the check engine light kept coming back. He repaired a oil lick that a specialized Volvo place repaired 3 times with no success. He was very persistent when the check engine light kept coming back, and made me pass Deq. Most of Volvo places would not even repair a Volvo made in 2001. This guy doesn't just rely on computer testing as other repair shops, he actually test drives the car and makes sure that it works when he fixes it. He makes a point of actually repairing your car, unlike most of places.

Shop is not thorough. Asked if a part needed to be replaced while fixing another part directly related to it, and was told that it looked good. I told him that I was willing to pay to replace the other part related to it, and he told me it was ok. Less than a week later, the other part was causing the same problem that I took it in for. Now I have to spend money to redo everything related to the original problem. Don't trust this shop. Go somewhere else so you don't have to spend twice the money to fix the problem twice. They also leave your car unlocked on the street. They also won't give you a quote on how much it will be to fix it. They just give you a bill at the end. Go somewhere else.

Sloppy. They might save you some money in the short term by cutting corners, but in the long term you will just have to pay someone else to clean up their mistakes. There was something wrong with my car's brakes, and I took it to Ho's on the recommendation of a friend. At about 10am I dropped off my car, they seemed very busy and hurried me out the door quickly after taking some preliminary information. They said they would call me in the afternoon for more details, and to confirm what work I wanted done. I waited all afternoon wondering when they would call. Finally, at 5pm they called and told me "we finished the work on your car, please come pick it up, we close at 5:30." I had not authorized any work, nor discussed charges. I was also a 45 minute walk away. They had an employee stay late so I could pick up my car, who acted very annoyed at having to wait. They agreed to charge me for parts only, not labor, since they didn't have permission to do the work, but it still cost me $450 I couldn't afford. I had to take out a short-term loan to cover the cost. This would have been poor enough service to earn a bad review. 16 months later, my car began having brake problems again. I took it in to a legitimate brakes shop. HO'S HAD INSTALLED THE PARTS SO POORLY THAT THEY LASTED LESS THAN HALF THEIR DESIGNED LIFESPAN. Everything they had touched needed to be replaced.

Took the car there to get the AC checked as it wasn't giving cold air,left the car there and after 3 hours or so he called saying it's fixed charging $185 and 2 weeks later the AC stops giving cold air again. I go back to him and he suggests taking it to another shop and getting it diagnosed.

I have an older 2005 Mazda Tribute and today, the brakes went out. Called up Hung at 1pm about the issue and he said to have it towed over. He discovered the lines had disintegrated and replaced both of them with new hoses. The brakes were also bled. He wrapped everything up by 5:30pm as promised earlier for $300. He's always so quick, reliable, affordable and very communicative. Proud to be my go-to mechanic in the Montavilla neighborhood.

This is the most honest and fair priced mechanic I've been to in Portland. The owner always treats you with respect and does his best to keep you on the road at a price that is fair and reasonable. It doesn't matter if you're paying out of pocket or if insurance is picking up the bill, when you trust Ho's Automotive with your vehicle, you'll be back on the road faster than anywhere else and you'll feel like they gave you the family treatment both with price and attention to detail. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

My boyfriend has been going to Ho’s for two years and I started to today for an axle repair. We live near by and have been in portland 6 years. This is the best place you can go to for honest, caring, responsive, and fairly priced work. My car was taken in at 9am and it was ready by 4pm and he already had the parts ready and called me to update me on every step of the way! His wife and him are really nice too. You can definitely see that they care about their customers!
