I drove over to John and Nick's first thing on a Thursday morning because my car was making some unusual sounds. Even though I didn't have an appointment, Paul came outside to listen - and even took a quick drive around the block to try and assess the issue. He suspected an exhaust system issue, so I left the car for a proper inspection. About an hour and a half later, Paul called me to let me know what the issue was. He had me come back to the shop so he could show me the problem with the exhaust sytem (I live very close, but he also offered to take a video to show me). The team was able to make the necessary repairs by the next morning. Such a smooth experience!

Maybe the two most important things in a mechanic are his honesty and he has to be a professional. Paul from John & Nick's (one of the owners) is both. I came to his shop on Saturday with a noisy car after a different mechanic didn't fix my car problem. He took the car for a drive and then took me with him to make sure the noises I heard are the the same as he heard. Then, he showed me what makes the noises and what is need to be replaced. He gave me an estimate with no strings attached. I came back a few days later to get my car fixed. He updated me during the day and when I came back to take the car, Paul showed me the bad parts he replaced. A good and honest mechanic is not something you find every day. Plus the price he charged me was super fair for the parts and labor. Highly highly recommend.

I am not very knowledgeable about cars or mechanic work. I called them to request an appointment for an inspection as I wanted to make sure my car was functioning properly. The guy went on to tell me that I didnt know what I was asking instead of helping me out. Very poor customer service.

Got my inspection done on a Friday afternoon (note: inspections only till 3 pm). They were extremely nice and took me right away. I walked around the neighborhood for 20 minutes and came back, paid $35 cash, and was on my way. Highly recommend!

Paul is one of the greatest mechanics there, very knowledgeable, always has a solution and can get parts quickly. Also has very reasonable and fair prices. I will always bring my vehicles to John and Nicks for service repairs, oil changes, gas, and for yearly inspections! Thank you for servicing all my vehicles with quick turn arounds. Be sure to book an appointment as they are always booked ahead of time!

I brought my car in today after an oil change at a Valvoline 2 days ago left my car driving differently and extremely slow to accelerate. John and Nick's were able to get me within 30 minutes and took my car for a test drive to understand what I was talking about. It turns out this other place had not actually changed my oil, but had instead just added new oil to the engine, completely overfilling it and causing the difference in driving. John and Nick's was able to diagnose the problem and redo the oil change properly, and now my car is back to driving normally again. As a woman who admittedly does not know a lot about cars beyond the few things I can check/replace thanks to youtube tutorials, I am always a bit nervous going to a new mechanic for fear of being scammed. These guys could not have been more professional, helpful, friendly, and charged a very fair price. I am extremely grateful they could get me in on such short notice to prevent this issue from causing more damage. I will be a loyal customer from here on out!

Paul is like the patron saint of cars. Before I showed up at John & Nick’s (John is Paul’s dad) everything had gone wrong with the used prius I bought. At every step of the way, Paul was there — calmly fixing, advising, getting me back on the road, and doing it with such a Cambridge sweetness. He didn’t even charge me for a jump when my battery died. Can’t say enough positive things about them. Many garages will try to rip you off — this isn’t one. Many won’t really know their stuff — this isn’t one. This business has been here since the 60’s, servicing the whole local community, and Paul sees every car they fix as his own. They do it for the love of cars and community, and you can really tell.

I have been going to John and Nick since 1996! I have brought many cars in for repairs through the years. I have recommended them to friends and family. They are the ONLY mechanics I 100% trust with my car(s). They are honest, reliable, knowledgeable and nice. They are so nice. I love them. I lived in Cambridge until 2016 but I still bring in my car to them to this day…. If I moved to New Hampshire I’d still bring my car to them. So you can guess, I highly recommend them.
