The only mechanics I will take my car to! Car repairs are expensive & it’s difficult to find a business you can trust. I have been a customer of Lake Transmission for years (after a well known local business over charged me for brake service) and I have always received excellent customer service and communication. The manager Brian and service advisors are great at explaining the problem and troubleshooting solutions. They rate the problems in order of importance and advise you with safety in mind. They never try to sell things you don't need, example - twice, two different services appointments I've asked them to check my brakes with respect to my mileage and both times they said I was good and told me percentage of wear left. Great work and great customer support. Gave me a ride home, picked up when vehicle ready. They found and fixed difficult computer & sensor problems to make my engine roar like new. A month later, went back for a new AC belt. They fixed a brake light for free that the dealer made an exorbitant quote on. Getting my AC compressor checked next week; probably the cause of my broken belt. Happy Holidays!!

I recently had my transmission serviced at Lake Sumter Transmission in Leesburg, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Thomas, the service advisor, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the entire process. He was patient with me and took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. The technician, Bill, was also very kind and patient, and even took the time to explain a few things to me when I had questions about the service. It’s rare to find a shop where both the staff and technicians are so respectful and thorough. I really appreciate the customer service. Pictures, detailed notes on service report. I came in for a transmission leaking, it needed a rebuild I was at 292,000 miles. They replaced my starter and radiator as well now my tundra is driving like brand new. I would recommend to a friend.

Took my car to them for an air conditioning issue. They had my car for over a week. When I got it back they it was and would work fine with the exception of a faulty memory board for the blend door so it would recalibrate every time a get in vehicle which would be annoying. They said they could fix it for an additional $650( after they already charged me about $750). Since we live in Florida I very rarely turn on the heat but we drove it to Michigan and when I did, the heat didn't work. I looked under dash and they just disconnected the wire harness from the blend door actuator while it was in the cooling position. I go there for them to reconnect it so I can have heat and when they did, it was exactly the same as when I initially brought it to them. They gave the technician a hard time when he was reconnecting the wiring harness and talking to me for a few minutes about the vehicle and said they don't have time. Very hypocritical because they didn't care about the time they took from me by lying saying they completed the job and it would work, heat and AC, when it was only Jerry rigged to work on AC knowing I wouldn't turn heat on. If they would have been transparent and told me upfront instead of lying about it, I would have probably been ok with it. But they rudeness I encountered from they when bringing it back for them to fix the job I already paid them for was uncalled for. The only reason I gave a two star was because they let the technician come out and look at it. I will never go back there again. PS: When I read there reviews ( which I did when I first went because I was new to the area, they always respond to them and make it sound like they are not at fault in anyway. Don't believe them!! Take it there at your own risk, not to mention they are the most expensive than most auto shops but that's ok if they would have done a good job!!!

From the process of scheduling my appointment to the verbal interaction & communication with the service manager to facilitate my repair, I would say that Sumpter Transmission was superb. My issue was electrical so I had to trust this company to do right by me as my personal mechanic does not do this type of repair. The outcome financially for my repairs was astronomical. I have consulted with my local personal totally reliable mechanic and a family member who is a 45 year experienced mechanic and shared my bill & the evaluation of my vehicle for repairs completed & repairs that Sumpter Transmission highly recommended for my vehicle. Both mechanics had no other words than…”you were ripped off”. This company is overpriced on part costs so compare with other places for repairs that are not electrical or a specialty service that other mechanics will not do. Services that were recommended for my vehicle were not necessary when evaluated by my personal mechanic. Very disappointed as a female who is trusting & vulnerable. I will never return.

The transmission in my 2015 Toyota RAV4 AWD with 175,000 miles had a slight slip (going into 3rd or 4th gear) first thing in the morning, and the rest of the day it was fine. Dealer drained and refilled the fluid twice over 50,000 miles without any change. The car was only ever sent to the dealer in the past. Heard great things about Lake Sumter Transmissions and decided it was time to give them a try. Dan was great up front explaining what they would have to do to diagnose my issue and go over the entire car too checking everything. Randy found nothing wrong with the trans itself (other than dirty fluid), but decided to drain and fill with Amsoil and add a stop shudder additive along with replacing the trans filter. Got car back and no slip since. They were upfront and honest about just draining the fluid rather than telling me I needed a whole new trans for upwards of $7,000, and they could have done just that. I was so happy that their simple recommendation turned out to fix the issue I’ve lived with for so long. They are great and do such a thorough job going over the whole car too, checking for anything that needed attention. I can’t say enough good things about them. I would not hesitate to use them in the future for any of my car care needs. Great job Randy and Dan! Thank you both very much, Marty
