Horrible experience!! Beware do not waste your money here for poor products and service!! I have never posted a negative online review before, but here's what happened... Our 2008 Ford Taurus needed a new transmission and we took it to LS transmission. Within 2 months their new transmission failed. After some haggling they honored the 6 month warranty and replace that transmission. When we got the car back the windshield was badly damaged and they claimed they had nothing to do with it. Again with much haggling they finally replaced the windshield. Finally 8 months later, 2 months past their 6 month warranty, guess what happened? The 2nd transmission failed and they will DO NOTHING to offer even a tiny discount to help fix it. Nothing! Their office lady hung up on my wife who was simply understand what options we might have for a repair. $3,000 wasted at LS Transmission! Never again!

Around November 2013, we purchased a transmission from Lee's Summit Transmission. Within a week of the completed transmission rebuild, the transmission leaked all the fluid and burned up when we were on a trip. We had to haul the car back to Kansas City to return it to the shop. Even though my husband knew that the clutch pack had been entirely burned up, they decided to not take apart the transmission and instead replaced only a clutch sensor. We immediately began having problems with it once we got it back but did not return it to the shop because we were hoping that it wouldn't get worse. Within a few weeks it was evident that, while never entirely missing gears, the transmission would regularly slip between gears. We returned the car to the shop and they told us to return it and they would fix it. We got it back this weekend and it is now Tuesday and my husband just discovered a massive transmission fluid leak. They are willing to fix it, but we now doubt their ability to do a quality job as this will be the fourth time that the car has been given to them to repair. UPDATE (6/17): The car has been returned to us and we have now been told that we were mistaken and the transmission is not leaking, that it must have been the power steering fluid. We know that it is not the power steering fluid as the color of the power steering fluid is much different than that which was leaking out of the car, but it does seem that the leak has stopped or slowed. We submitted a BBB Complaint against this shop, and they were unkind about it (saying that they didn't understand what we were so angry about) so we will no longer be returning to this shop and will be taking our car elsewhere.

So far I am not impressed!! Took our work truck for a new transmission. Said it would be ready in 3 days. Here we are 5 days later and still not done!! They did not even bother to update us on the progress!! We had to call and call. Better be a discount on our bill. If they do the right thing this review could change. If not, hmm!!! Just saying, do what's right!!

I took my truck here to have the rear-end repaired. Charged me for a new factory gear replacement. I followed all recommendations for the break in. Now I have just received a call from. A certified Chevy Dealership informing me that I have to replace the entire rear axel. Because they not only put some cheap parts in it, they didn't even put the correct type of gears. Also they did not install those correctly. If I was still in Missouri I would be taking them to court for scamming me and causing more damages to my truck. Do not use these scam artists. Lyed about parts i was charged for, did not put the correct type in, and put them in incorrectly.

They were AWESOME. Two other places tried to charge me $100+ to simply CHECK my transmission for an issue. Called LS Transmission and they said they would do it for free. Went, in less than 10 minutes the guy was looking at my car. He listened to my explanation of what I thought happened (supported by the car manual and my video). He checked the car, took it for a drive, brought it back and said it appeared to be fine. Explained what it could have been in terms I understood and told me what to do if it happened again. I was SO pleased with this. I don't know about cars but I know when people are trying to pull one over on me and they definitely were not the type of business to take advantage of a young woman who obviously doesn't know a lot. I was very impressed and highly recommend them.

Great work done on two of my classic cars! Repaired the transmission on my 1980 Mercury Cougar XR7. Then, carefully removed a damaged windows regulator on my 1993 Chrysler New Yorker to get it rebuild by an Arizona specialist. Great people to deal with!

I highly recommend Lees Summit Transmission. They go above and beyond to offer solutions to major mechanical issues even on classic cars. Not long ago I took my ‘61 T Bird in for trans and front end rebuild. This the second vintage car I’ve had repaired here and have had great results both times. Thank you!

I brought my car to Lees Summit Transmission after the dealership told me they wouldn’t accept my Extended Warranty and I had to pay out of pocket. Jan was so helpful…..she helped me navigate the extended warranty hoopla! They replaced my transmission and had be back on the road in no time!! Would definitely recommend!

I had this shop rebuild the transmission on my 98 k1500. I spent $3200 for the transmission to last 18 months and 54k miles (150mile round trip for work). The OEM transmission lasted 24 years and 282k miles. The lady in the office just said, “welp, transmission is bad and you’re out of warranty, but they’d be happy to rebuild it again for another $2800.” Why would I spend another $2800 for it to fail again in a year and a half. I get it, I’m out of warranty, but come on. Online transmission remanufacturers offer 3 year unlimited mileage warranties. It’s frustrating that they weren’t even willing to work with me on getting it fixed. I’m not one to leave bad reviews but It’s frustrating to spend that kind of money on a poor product. Would not recommend.

I had a very good experience with Lee's Summit Transmission. Family-owned and very friendly, something I find refreshing in comparison to today's cold and indifferent corporate-world. I asked if I could leave my car with them since I had to go out of state on a family issue, and they accommodated my request without any hesitation. There was a slight problem when driving it home, but I took it back and the issue was addressed immediately. Perhaps they forgot to take it for a test drive after repairs, but it was not a big deal, and I will certainly return in the future.

I bought my car in April 2023 from a friend. She had the transmission replaced at this shop in June 2022. By the time I had the car, the transmission overheated and it needed to be completely replaced. The transmission that they put in only lasted 22,000 miles, while the original one lasted 130,000 miles. Thank God I had a warranty on the transmission so the transmission was going to be replaced for free since it did not last nearly as long as it was supposed to. At first the office staff was super friendly and told me to bring my car in and they could get it all taken care of for me. I brought my car in, it sat in the parking lot for a week and a half untouched. I called every couple of days to see if they had started to figure out what the problem with my transmission was and started to figure out a resolution to the problem. But every time I called they told me they hadn’t looked at my car yet, and constantly had some excuse for why my car hadn’t been looked at. I wish they would’ve told me straight up if they didn’t have time to look at my car so I could’ve taken it somewhere else instead of racking up the rental fees from my rental car while my car just sat in their parking lot untouched. I finally called them after a week and a half and asked if I can take my car somewhere else to have it worked on while still honoring the warranty. I’m not sure who I talk to but some woman in the front office was super rude and refused to give me the warranty companies phone number and then hung up on me. I’m sorry but I think I’m allowed to be upset when my car has sat in your lot for weeks untouched. I think it’s understandable that I want to take it somewhere else. When I finally came to pick up my car all of the front office women stared directly at me, and it felt very judgmental and not a welcoming environment. Anyways, I took it to a Certified Transmission Shop and they had my car taken care of and ready to go within a week and a half. I’m not sure about the quality of work they do at this shop but I would probably recommend skipping over this shop and finding someone else.

I dropped my truck off at Lee’s Summit Transmission yesterday, not knowing if they could fix my problem yesterday. I had to have it fixed “same day” because it is my only transportation. I called at 2pm and it hadn’t been fixed yet. I showed up at 4pm and the job was completed. They are very nice people, but also very busy. Good shops are hard to find. So, I think I have found a good one. The price was a fair one. I do recommend LST.

Worst shop my trucks ever been to. First time they had it took them 7 months to realize it was out of gas and left it a quart low on fluid. Second time I got it back it was again a quart low, missing a pan bolt, leaking out of the tail shaft, removed my shift kit, and they didn’t adjust the tv cable whatsoever. Was told to be easy on it for 500 miles (just enough to burn an improperly adjusted trans) and found out as soon as I let it run through the gears at WOT. Told me this so I wouldn’t floor it and find out it was shifting at the wrong points. Just cause I’m 18 doesn’t mean I don’t know what to look for, come on people 🤦🏻♂️

Worst service ever. Made an appointment for no reason at all. They had my truck for 9 days and did nothing but blame me for them not touching it. Said I was comming to pick up my truck due to no service in 9 days I have a new dent in truck that wasn't there and now my truck doesn't idle after being there. This shop is low down and dirty service. This is the only company I've seen that gets mad at customers for them not doing what they say thay will do and take it out on your vehicle. Every complaint they receive you can see they blame the customers and take no responsibility for there lack of actions. I would tell everyone not to take there vehicle there, will probably come back worse than when you dropped it off. Lack of customer service is not a choice unless you don't want any business. Don't take your vehicle here ever, find someone one who knows what customer service is. Don't make appointments you can't keep then blame the customer. They will retaliate against your vehicle. Take ownership of your schedule.

2014 Suburban No Go. Column shifter moved but not engage gears. Called LS Trans 12:30pm. She said they could take a look right away. Towed there. Simple fix. Cable bushing replacement. 1 hour. $150. On my way!

I don’t usually write reviews, but in this case, it’s absolutely deserved. A friend referred me to Lee’s Summit Transmissions (Don), and I couldn't be more impressed with the service I received. From dropping off my vehicle and working with Jan to picking it up, the whole experience was outstanding. They had my vehicle for just three days to install a rebuilt transmission — way faster than I expected. I’m so glad I found a locally owned shop where you're treated like a valued customer, not just a number like at a dealership or big chain. Thank you, Don and Jan, for the great experience. I’ll be sending everyone I know your way and will definitely be back anytime I need repairs.

I'm going to start this by saying the customer is always wrong at this place. We were told a price of 150 dollars. then, to get the job finished it was suddenly an extra 400 dollars. Picked up the part, took it home to install and it wasn't even finished!. They said it was our fault...surprise! Just say NO to this place. Save yourself the headache

Tried to make an appointment over the phone but was told they don’t do appointments, then preceded to be told they were 2 weeks behind after I had taken every thing apart on my rear diff. After a week of waiting and my truck up on stands, I call back and was then told it would be done that day around 3:00. 2 weeks later my gears are done and then blamed for not knowing they had changed the price. Don’t go to this place and do believe the other reviews. They only blame the customer.

Had the transmission go out in our van on a Tuesday night. I had called Lees Summit Transmission the next day, and dropped it off Thursday morning. They had got a quote back to us late Friday afternoon, and were told it was going to take two weeks to get it back (due to the Christmas holiday and ordering of the transmission). We got our van back the following Wednesday 10 days earlier than expected. Plus we added a new belt to the order, and got new motor mounts put in. Couldn’t say enough kind things about Jan Very kind and helpful. We were kept in the loop the whole way. Very good communication. We’ll definitely be using these guys again!!
