The paint was such a poor match they had to redo it. The bumper was not aligned properly, uneven gaps, etc. (looks like an aftermarket one - how to confirm?), and it took longer than quoted. Not recommended. We need a shop in the Reno area that can work on Tesla's.

They missed their repair deadlines by months. The owner can't do any paper work so if the lady/wife isnt there, you're out of luck. I’m giving 4 stars because they did a good job repairing the car, they did help me save some money, and when the car was ready

Ripoff Alert! McCarran Auto Body is contracted with insurance companies to assess and repair damages, and at least in my case they do it in a very underhanded way. When I dropped off my vehicle I was told to sign a blank document by Julie Wientjes, for an appraisal of damages. The body shop then started working on repairs to my vehicle before notifying me, which they did by sending me a text message with pictures of my truck in pieces. I was going to take it to another body shop for the work, but couldn't because by the time I found out they had stripped the truck down and ordered parts already. They kept working on the truck after they received approval from the insurance company, even when I told them to stop! Jerry Wientjes told me on the phone they couldn't match the paint on the truck, and that he purposefully didn't add part of the damages on the inspection report because he said the insurance company wouldn't approve the repairs (that he was estimating), but refused to put anything in writing, even telling me to leave the premises when I showed up asking for documentation. When I went to pick up the truck I found out he had added work on top of what was approved by insurance, and held my truck hostage to the additional charges. He forged authorization documentation, showed underhanded dealings by avoiding authorization for work from the vehicle owner, and him and his wife both became aggressive when confronted with an unhappy vehicle owner. Since McCarran Auto Body lacks either the skills or the tools to properly fix the vehicle to pre-loss condition, they are forcing me to research ways to redo the repairs and will likely cost thousands in additional work to fix theirs. If you have insurance tell you to go here, insist on taking it to a different shop. These folks will rip you off!

In my own experience with auto body shops here and elsewhere, this is by far the best that I've had in Reno! Excellent quality, great customer service, and friendly staff! They even discounted the price for me as a disabled vet on a fixed income! I highly recommend Mcarren Auto Body for anyone seeking Superior and and prompt auto body work at a great price!

My car was completed a week later after the date it was supposed to be done. That too the bumper still have a small dent and was told that it will take half day to replace it with a new bumper. The bumper replacement appointment was made for 9/3 (initially made for 4th, but they changed it to 3rd on my request 2 weeks ahead). Today I called them in the morning but when I reached the shop for bumper replacement, I was told that the bumper is not available. Why no one told me when I called them in the morning that bumper is not available or they should have contacted me ahead to notify. When I asked why no one informed me that the bumper is not available when I called in the morning, I got lame excuse from receptionist that I work in office and don’t know anything about the shop (regarding availability). Then they started blaming the car dealership/company that they did not gave them bumper after confirmation that it is available in stock (email confirmation on 21st). But again nobody from body shop notified me that the bumper is not available for today’s appointment. My friend took an hour off from his work to pick me up today from the body shop. Really disappointed with them and I cancelled my Bumper replacement with them. Unfortunately currently they are the only authorized Tesla body shop in the area.

I had the best experience with everyone at McCcarran. The owner Jerry personally did the estimate on my car, invited me into his office while he priced it out, and offered me drinks and snacks. His wife Julie handled my billing, and the girl up front Cheryl was amazing at making sure everything was squared away with my rental car and insurance. My car was ready in the time promised, and returned to me looking brand new. For a small family owned company you can tell they take pride in their work. Jerry made sure to polish and shine my entire car before giving it back, made sure I knew how much gas was in the tank before I left, and left every thing inside exactly as I left it. They kept in touch with me during the repairs to give me updates and make sure I wasn't just left wondering on the progress. I highly recommend McCarran auto body for all of your auto body repair needs.

Long story short. Tesla needs other body shops in Reno. When they get more go there. Scheduled my apt in March to get fixed in September 2022 to fix my trunk. Estimated 2 weeks. Ended up being 4. They said the parts didn't arrive. Seems like bad planning/ procurement. Finally got my car back. Trunk now has a rattle. Then got in Jan 2023 saying they have more parts to install. I asked will it fix the rattle they said yes. Got the car back trunk still rattles.

TL;DR Poorly managed, questionable billing re: work performed, unrealistic timelines that are never met yet promised, disorganized, damaged my car. What happened: I offered to pay for everything, cash, to avoid delays. The estimated repair time from the insurance adjuster was 11 days, they had my car for over 10 weeks. (2-May 2021 - 15-Jul 2021). I routinely checked in for updates; I was informed they were backlogged with work, that they could have it done around 6/18. I agreed. On 6/10, they told me it'd be done 7/31. They also said they would order parts on 5/23, they did not until after the conversation on 6/10. I said 7/31 will not work. After unpleasant/awkward and consistent follow-ups, they had it done 7/15, with no insurance supplements approved. I had to pay $4200 out of pocket to get my car. They also billed me for a new splash guard, but hadn't ordered it, so I had to go back 6 weeks later (after I finally got the car back) to have them swap out the used one they had installed. This staff likely means well, but they have little to no system to go through workload/backlog, they need more staff. I saw Tesla wheels in a glass door garage in the front of the shop - there is obviously disorganized (and expensive) inventory on display for passers-by. Also, during repair, they damaged my car - a deep, but small gash on the passenger side. I was so over dealing with this place, I didn't bother bringing it up, I'll have someone else fix it and foot the bill.

I want to support a local business, but this establishment is in much need of updating their business practices. They have paper files which Cheryl often had difficulty finding when I had to call for updates, perhaps upgrade to electronic. This is the only body shop in Reno that can work on Tesla vehicles, unfortunately. After my experience, I would suggest going to Sacramento for the next nearest body shop. The clerical staff, repeatedly spelled my name wrong on paper documents, never called for updates, did not call to inform me my car was done, did not communicate with the insurance company. I scheduled 1 year in advance and it took 3 months to complete my repair. Instead of waiting to receive a final check for a small remaining amount from the insurance company, which the insurance assured them would be paid, they charged me. After speaking with the insurance company, I was informed this is not a normal business practice and they had already confirmed with them that the small remaining amount would be paid, but they still changed me. Seeing how long it takes them to do paperwork, I don't plan on getting my money back. The whole time my vehicle was in the shop, I felt like I had a second job contacting the insurance company to do Cheryl's job (shop clerk), who repeatedly failed to communicate with the insurance company and also did not process paperwork appropriately. I have many friends who warned me not to go here and I wished I had listened.

I have had excellent customer service and results all around since finding McCarran Autobody about 18 months ago; Jerry replaced the bumper on my Tesla after it was rearended. Bumper repaired good as new; Cheryl walked me through the insurance piece of it! Last week Jerry diagnosed and fixed an alarming rattle that the Tesla service shop "could not hear" (there were some broken things underneath all of which Jerry shared photos of). Reno Tesla's estimate to repair my damaged rocker panel was prohibitively expensive, now my rocker panel is good as new and I can still afford to buy groceries. Jerry renewed my appreciation for my Tesla, he fixed it up so it looks and performs like new. Cherly in the front office is readily available to assist or she calls right back. Working with McCarran Autobody was incredibly frustrating. My accident was in January 2023. The soonest appointment availability was September 2023. I dropped my car off in October for a week to begin insurance negotiation. McCarran Autobody lost contact with the insurance company because they were emailing the adjuster directly instead of the proper email portal. The adjuster was on leave and I had to get involved to reconnect the McCarran Autobody to the insurance company. I then dropped my car off for repair in January 2024. The repair took 3 weeks and the paint quality was acceptable, but by no means good (small drips near the panel edges). Prior to pick-up Cheryl accused me of not delivering the check from the insurance company. You see, she has an infallible system of stapling all checks into the customer’s folder and if I want my car back, I will need to make a direct payment. After 2 days of blaming me, boldly insisting I made a mistake, and boasting about telling her boss I was wrong, Cheryl realized she had already deposited the check... I too was baffled by her system failure. Wait time: Not much you can do about it. Quality of work: 2 stars for the paint drips, though not worth bringing back. Customer service: 0 stars for being some of the worst customer service I have ever received. Tesla opened a new body shop in Reno and I will absolutely be going there in the future.
