Metro Metric has always been honest and fair with the work they do on my 2001 Honda Accord. They explain what they're doing and do a great job every time. My only complaint is that they can get booked out quite a ways, but it's because of their great reputation. I highly recommend them!

I've been coming here for the past couple of years and really appreciate how great they are. I had a few bad encounters with other mechanics when I first moved to Portland and Metro Metric were the ones that were able to correctly identify the issue with my car and saved me hundreds of dollars and a lot of stress. As a female, it can be frustrating or uncomfortable going to mechanics, but these folks are always direct, honest and respectful towards me. They don't add on unnecessary services, and will help break down what things are really necessary and why. I recommend them to everyone I know!

I have been to 5 or 6 different repair shops in Portland, and this is the first one I felt actually had my best interest in mind. They were kind, honest, and fair, and not pushy like many other places. They let me keep my car there for several days after it was diagnosed while I figured out if I was going to have it repaired. They even went above and beyond by helping me out with the process of trading in/selling my vehicle. I highly recommend.

i would trust these guys with my life, my limb, and maybe my firstborn child, not to mention my car. transparency is their whole deal — the first time i came in, just for a standard checkup and oil change, they checked out the past codes of my car (which i bought used) and let me know about the after-market exhaust system they noticed had been installed. the most recent time i came in, they were upfront about what was wrong and what potential fixes existed, how long i could go without replacing the part that needed to be replaced (and what the impact would be on my car), and the amount of time it would take to source a new one. plus, i’ll second the number of non-men who have commented that they appreciate the level of expertise and respect they’ve gotten here. as someone who’s had, uh, varied experiences with other mechanics, i have never felt pressure or condescension from anyone; Ron is kind, honest, and incredibly patient with every concern i have about my car, small or large. when i came in my very first time, the man behind me commented “these are the most trustworthy guys you’ll ever meet.” he was right. :)

I almost hate to leave a review since Metro is usually booked out several weeks in advance, and I don't necessarily want more competition for open slots... but it also feels unfair to not rave about such an excellent auto shop. I've taken my older car to Metro on a number of occasions for everything from an oil change to a transmission replacement. They're consistently professional, honest, and capable. They're also practical about what is and isn't worth doing on a car this old, which I appreciate, and no one has ever tried to pressure or upsell me—in fact, Ron once recommended I take my car to a specialist for a particular service in order to get a better rate. Their prices are always fair and their work is top-notch and holds up. And, importantly, everyone at Metro has treated me with respect. As a fairly feminine-presenting woman, I've met my fair share of condescending scam artists who think I can't tell the difference between a spark plug and a dipstick. The folks at Metro treat me like a human being, and it's a real breath of fresh air. I'd give 'em 20 stars if I could, and I won't take my vehicle anywhere else—unless, of course, Ron recommends it.

Ron and the team at metro metric are the best! Honest, reliable and professional. I don’t trust anyone else with my aging Mazda, from big repairs to oil changes. They won’t do work I don’t need and when I need it, they get it done fast and right.

I love this shop. This is the only place I go in Portland. I’m a small woman (I’m handy, but I don’t look it) and they never try to sell me brake light fluid or a new timing belt on my vehicle that uses a timing chain. I would send my mother to them with no hesitation, which is the highest compliment I can give to a car shop. They work fast and clean, and their communication is exemplary. I do lots of road trips and travel and they always make sure I’m good to go. (Also, don’t be intimidated if they’re scheduled out. My AC compressor blew and they had it fixed like the day after I dropped it off.)

So happy with the service we get at Metro Metric. Ron is always friendly and very candid about what our older car needs. Prices are fair and you always know what to expect. Regular maintenance is the path to owning a car more economically, and we're so glad to have Metro Metric taking care of ours.

Always a great experience here. My subie couldn't be in better hands. I recently had to reseal the head gaskets/engine, typically with a 200k+ Subaru. My car drives like a completely different car, feels brand new. The price was also reasonable and they stand by their work. Highly recommend. Update: they continue to provide thoughtful and timely service. Ron is my car dad at this point. Grateful for the service!

Metro metrics is a great place to take your vehicle. They are the best mechanics. Ron is very friendly and upfront with everything that needs to be done with your car. I took my car there after a dealership. Could not figure out what was wrong. After 2 hours of them having my car, they fixed it 😁

Got some routine maintenance done plus some extra work in less time than they estimated! I received a recommendation to come here from my dad (who’s also in the auto industry if that tells you anything). They were very accommodating to an initial miscommunication and got my car in and out in less than two hours. Very honest and weren’t pushy at all about the extra work they recommended be done; answered my questions honestly and politely. There’s a reputation that mechanics have with their treatment of women but I don’t feel that way in the slightest talking to Aaron on the phone or Ron while there. They’re my go-to guys for my Subaru here on out 💯

My brother recommended his long time mechanic to me when my Subaru check engine light came on on my way through Portland on my way to Sacramento. Ron was fantastic and was able to give me exact information for what I needed. In short, I could drive home and have my mechanic fix the problem and he didn't charge me. Love a good honest auto repair shop....

Against my better judgement of wanting to hide the best mechanics, service, and value and keep it to myself; I just can't. They are great and efficient.

Ron and his team have been our go-to guys for two Toyotas starting a few years ago and will stay our go-to for the foreseeable future. Ron's as honest as they come and I have never once questioned the trust I have in him. He has told me my vehicles *don't* need a service that I was ready to pay for just as quick as he's told me when they *do* need something done. This shop first and foremost wants to do what's best for its customers, and that's why we'll keep coming back.

This shop is incredible! I have an older vehicle that had been sitting for years, so it’s had some issues that needed to be worked out. The Metro Metric team was able to get it running smoothly when a previous mechanic could not. Ron and his team are kind, professional, and their prices are very reasonable. As a new driver and vehicle owner, they’ve always taken the time to explain things clearly and make sure I understand what’s being done and I never feel like I’m being taken advantage of. I really appreciate their work and will certainly go back to them!

I am at least 15 years late in writing this ENTHUSIASTIC 5-Star review for Metro Metric and the owner/head mechanic Ron. Multiple times over the years they have provided me with affordable, FAST, and trustworthy service on the several autos I've owned. I cannot emphasize enough how much they earned that "trustworthy" label with the quirks that comes with owning cars as they get older. To be specific, about 15 years ago our 1995 Honda Accord wouldn't start, so they towed it to their shop, found that we had started and shut off our car too quickly so there was just too much gas in the system. They managed to get it started when we couldn't and only charged us for the tow. More recently, Jiffy Lube told us that our oil dipstick smelled of gasoline and that could be a sign of major problems. I called Ron and made an appointment...after our car being there for a couple hours, he called and said they found a feather in the system which was throwing off the sensors and causing a bit too much fuel to get mixed in the oil. He cleaned things and only charged us a half hour of labor. In BOTH of those circumstances, he could have told us any number of dishonest diagnoses and charged hundreds of dollars. Additionally, we've have other jobs on our cars done at the shop (both to solve problems and for preventative maintenance), and each and every time Ron has kept us informed what was going on, what potential options were, what he suggested etc, and fixed the issues for a VERY reasonable fee. I truly cannot recommend them enough for their work ethic, honesty, quality, and kindness. HIGHEST recommendation possible!!
