My husband and I were visiting Portland when we experienced car trouble (we live over an hour away). Our break line blew out and on a busy Friday afternoon, Mel from Jay's Garage saved the day! They called all around for the needed part and with some serious networking they were able to find it. The part was delivered and the vehicle was fixed in under 90min! This place is a humble bluecollar business that takes pride in their work. Fair prices and quality service. Auto emergency Lifesavers!

Love this place!! It’s so hard to find a good mechanic, especially as a female, you do not want to be treated unfairly or over charged. This will NOT happen at Jay’s garage. You get good service, skilled and knowledgeable employees at a fair rate. They have been my go to shop for both me and my son’s car for almost 4 years now. Highly recommend going to Jay’s (family owned and operated) if you need a trustworthy shop that provides high quality work!

I wish I could give higher than a 5🌟 rating!! The guys down at Jay's really know how to provide the absolute best service with the utmost honesty. They will never, ever try to get more money out of you with bologna claims of your car needing excess work. They only do the work that is necessary to keep you on the road safely. It's rare to find an honest mechanic anywhere, let alone a family owned/ran business. The owner, Miles, is a very kind and generous person, and a man of pure integrity. His son Joe helps him run the shop, and they do so in perfect harmony. I don't even know where to start with Mel.. The guy knows his stuff and is incredibly straight forward about any and everything. They're all straight shooters and They'll tell you how it is and they won't bulls*** you! Trust me when I tell you that this IS the place to get all your car repairs and maintenance done if you want it done right! Schedule and appointment or just go down and see what they say, I absolutely, positively, 110% guarantee you won't regret it and you'll want to thank me later!

They are rude to my girlfriend. She uses Jay’s to get her oil changed. Twice they have been exceedingly rude to her. Both of these times they tried to turn her away and she had to argue that she had an appointment. Twice I have went with her to drop the car off and they see a man and they are nice as can be. Another time they couldn’t fix her car and then wanted her to tell them what the fix was and get instructions from the shop that did work and give it to them.

Great service and friendly guys! You should definitely ad credit card self serve to your E85 pump so we can get it even when you are closed! You are the only place in Portland within a 100 mile radius to get E85 and it would be more buisness for you!! Thanks,

Always call first to see if they're open. Great people here. It's the only place I get gas since it's the only place in town with E85. Unfortunately they are terrible about maintaining their regular hours of operation that are listed on this very app. I've told them how easy it is to adjust your posted hours on Google Maps when you're going to deviate from your regular schedule. They manage to respond to reviews here, but they don't bother to keep their hours updated. I can only conclude from this that they don't care about their customers. It's as if they have no competition in selling E85. Oh wait, they don't. Numerous times I've pulled up to find a handwritten note on the pumps saying they are closed. Today I drove from 45 minutes away to find it unexpectedly closed again. Do I really have to call this gas station every time before I plan on visiting? I guess so. Hey Jay's, upgrade your pumps to allow self service now that it's legal. Then you can be closed as often as you want and at least you won't be wasting your customers' time.

I have used Jays multiple times over the past two years and I have never been disappointed. I had my brakes done and my AC replaced and both jobs were done within the day. Jay's Garage has worked on 3 of my vehicles now over the last 5 years and the quality of work has always been top notch. Even when I thought that I had an issue with a service they had done, they got my truck into the shop promptly. I had my brakes done on my 2014 F-150, and everything was great until a couple days later when I heard a loud squeal from the front end. After a new brake job this was obviously concerning. I brought the truck back and asked them to take a look. Without hesitation they pulled in my truck and took it apart. It turns out that coincidentally, after I had taken my truck back I went out to the woods on some gravel roads and a rock had somehow bounced into the brakes. I watched as they took it apart and saw the rock come out myself. I greatly appreciated how they handled the situation, which could have gone so differently. They have earned my business for multiple reasons, but seeing how they took responsibility for their work potentially being an issue, and getting the problem fixed promptly has soldified my trust in their work! I will always recommend them to friends and family!

This place is a staple and I’m glad they are still around. Friendly service and good folks. I just wish they didn’t price gouge on their e85 so much. They are $1.50+ more per gallon than other places in the state, but I guess you can charge whatever you want when the next station is over 100 miles away

Showed up to get some E85 for my car, I’m not sure who the man was that helped me but he let me test it with my E85 test kit before I bought any and it was solid E85. He filled my two 5-gallon gas jugs and I went on my way, he was friendly and helpful. As of 9/27/2024 the E85 price was $4.99/gal.

I called in from out of state to help my son who is in Portland. I spoke with Mel he had the best customer service. I actually called back a few times and he was always happy to help. Patient, kind, not in a hurry. My son did go in also dealt with Mel he got his diagnostic finally after a few mechanics later got an answer that made sense. He was honest about the problem and job that had to be done. I just appreciate the help and kindness. We will be coming back for future car troubles. Thank you.

These are skilled, honest and scrupulous mechanics. Jerry and Miles @ Jay's Garage worked hard to price cost the car parts I needed to work out an extremely affordable rate-- no arbitration, no haggling. They went to great lengths to try to save me money, even calling manufacturers on my behalf to try to honor warranties on inadequate parts. I'm puzzled that this neighborhood shop doesn't have more reviews. They've got my future business and trust; they're amazing, friendly guys with great communication who help you understand what went wrong, they talk straight (no embellishment, no exaggeration) and they definitely want to stand behind their workmanship. I like the commitment to their customers, I'll be back, thanks!

Dishonest mechanic. Took a car for pre inspection and this is what I got in the report. Inaccurate info and not how a PPI should look like. Waisted 2 hrs and $150 He’s asking the buyer to check engine, brakes and so on??? So what’s your job and point of inspection

Best auto shop in Portland! Very good communication, got me scheduled quickly and was able to finish what I needed in a day's work. My rig is a 2005 and drives like she's brand new now!
