This shop’s goal is to milk every job for as much money as they can. My friend brought his Hyundai in and made it clear he only wanted ball joints replaced. After getting quoted $1300 for replacing more front end components, some of which were not needed, we declined all restating that he wanted only ball joints. I later got a call that they had replaced a control arm anyway because “the ball joint didn’t fit in”. I have worked as a mechanic for years, and ball joints do not simply not fit - they either bought the wrong part or were lazy and used the customers money to patch the problem. After calling to ask if they would do an alignment (which is needed after a control arm is replaced) we only got attitude from the tech. A couple weeks before this my father brought his Honda in for an alternator replacement for which they ended up charging him $1100. He had to bring the car back because of an issue, too.

i believed i needed a new headlamp but it was actually a bit more complicated than that. erica (front desk) was worried about me driving with only 1 headlamp and so she fit my car in the very next morning. 1/2 day and my car is fixed and it wasn’t remotely expensive. plus they are all just so darn nice there!!

I went to Newfield Service after reading reviews hoping the reviews were accurate and honest. My experience was extremely upsetting. I had been having a problem with the check engine light. Luis , the owner, apparently did a diagnosis smoke test and said it was the purge valve. I was planning on driving south for the winter so also had my tires balanced and rotated and a radiator flush. After I Paid and left the shop I went back to my relatives home and on a hunch decided to look under the hood. To my surprise my radiator reserve tank was EMPTY. I immediately drove back and showed Luis. He slowly took the radiator cap off and poured more coolant in until it filled the reserve tank. RED FLAG #1. The very next day my check engine light came on ! I went back to the shop told the receptionist and she went in back told Luis he went out to my car did something? came back in and said the mechanic left a tool attached ?? RED FLAG #2 . I drove south as planned and couldn't believe 2 weeks later check engine light came back on. When I arrived back to CT I made an appointment. A mechanic took my key at 8am and said we will call you shortly. I asked for an oil change as well as figure out why the light came back on since the purge valve was replaced 5 weeks earlier. At 12:30 I called the shop and the receptionist said they were working on the car now. At 2:00 I called to ask if there was a problem with my car and I was put on hold and disconnected. When I tried to call back twice there was a busy signal. I immediately left my relatives home and walked to the shop. When I walked inside the receptionist walked back to get Luis. He walked out angry and rudely asked what I wanted ?? I said I need to know if my car is ready ? Luis then said I walked in with an attitude !! I am a 62 year old woman who is homeless AND fighting breast cancer and I NEED and RELY on my 12 year old vehicle and if calling and asking if my car is finished and without problem then YES I have a concerned worried ATTITUDE ! After a shouting match Luis informed me that I need a fuel pump ?? Wouldn't the smoke test diagnosis 5 weeks earlier have shown that ?? Why then was the purge valve replaced....or was it ?? !! My shouting match was regarding the fact that women get taken advantage of at car repair shops if not accompanied by a man ! Is there an HONEST auto repair shop anywhere in CT ??? Women I do not recommend Newfield Auto ! I am assuming this job was more than Newfield Service could handle and the reason why I never heard back when I was told he was waiting to hear back from the Kia dealer. Crook !
