These guys Brett and Mike gave got to be the most honest mechanic's I've known since I've came to NC. They will let you know ahead of time what's wrong and ask you if you want it fixed. If it needs to be fixed for your car to be safe they will let you know. I've used them for over 15 years and I've never had anything other than the best treatment from them. They treat you like family that's the best way I know to put it

These guys are the best! They are so nice and polite every time we take our vehicles in, and do a great job quickly getting us a repair. They always treat us like we are special customers and call us by our first names when we come and go, but when other customers come in they get the same treatment. Old Town Auto Works is amazing! They work hard, they are extremely knowledgeable, and they are very trustworthy! If they tell me that my car needs (fill in the blank)... I tell them to do it. I have been taking my cars to them since circa 2000, and I have never been disappointed. I am not easily impressed, but their work ethic and dedication is just that... impressive! They replaced my purge valve today, and I could not be happier. Without Old Town Auto Works I would not know where to take my car! Thank you so much Old Town!!

Mike and Brett and the whole team at Old Town Auto Works are a fantastic bunch of individuals and great mechanics. They are super good at diagnostics and as honest as the day is long. Just today one of my daughters had a problem with her Mazda late in the afternoon and she called and they said come on down. Half an hour later they had the problem diagnosed, explain to her what was wrong, temporarily repaired it while a part was ordered, and had her on her way with her car running well again. I used to work in the car business and I’ve never come across such a fantastic repair shop.

Good enough at what they do. Be prepared to pay top dollar for the work. Very much suggest once you have the diagnosis getting something on paper quoting cost. Over a $200 discrepancy on the work I had done. And they did nothing more than what they quoted to be approximately $400 that turned into $600, that in reality should have been closer to $200. *There was no confusion sir. You simply didn't honor your quote. You were not even close. Understandable that quotes are not an exact science, but being off by 50% without authorization or explanation is unacceptable. However, no need to worry. I would never conduct business with your company again.

Hands down the BEST auto shop in Winston. This place is locally owned with honest folks who do good work and don’t ever try to oversell you or steer you wrong (especially as a woman who doesn’t know a lot about cars). Went in to get a problem fixed with a squealing noise in my car. When initially diagnosed was told it was sway bar and it would be 300 with labor. Hours later was told it was control arm and they could fix it with labor for 300 labor included. I said fine, he explained it as though it was the control arm instead of sway bar. When I went to pick it up my bill was 600. On top of that the noise came back a day later. I really feel as though they swindled me, as I came in their was a black couple with inquires about their bill as they felt they were overcharged. I'd hate to say I was also swindled due to my race (Me being black as well) but the circumstances were too coincidental to not consider it a factor seeing how this place usually gets good reviews.

They are easy to schedule with within a week or two and are very competent. They are busy but good at their work. They didn’t try to upsell me. Rather they didn’t even notify me that there was metal flakes in my oil after my first visit for an oil change. I already know it’s there and the transmission is going but I expected them to say something. If you’re looking for a small town personal relationship with the owner who knows your car and talks to you about it, this doesn’t seem to be the place. A lot of employees and work to be done. But they seem to be straight forward and honest based upon my experiences with mechanics. I also witnessed them make calls about warranties for their customers. That’s great service. I just wish they had more time for discussing their work. Edit: Months later I’ve had no luck calling them, always get a busy tone and a hang up. Their phones haven’t worked for weeks.

Very trustworthy auto shop, great customer service and no nonsense. My son is a student at Wake Forest which is a pretty easy drive from the shop, they took great care of him and explained in great detail what was wrong and how they were going to fix it. Having an mechanic you can trust when you can't be there to directly supervise is worth it for the peace of mind alone. Can't recommend these guys enough!
