Very unprofessional and disrespectful. ZERO STAR As a healthcare provider with a very tight schedule, working 6 days a week to serve my community, I scheduled an appointment for MD state inspection a few days ahead of time and when I arrived there on the scheduled date and time, I was told by the manager that: "I have to tell you something that people don't like to hear! The state inspection is first come first served and that someone has arrived here a few minutes before you and that you have to drop your car and when we have time we do it" I asked so then what is the purpose of online scheduling? He said it's only for Pep Boys in Pennsylvania! AND I ANSWERED: How should I as a customer know that MD inspection at Pep Boys in Maryland is first come first served!!!! Why you guys just remove online scheduling for MD inspection to not WASTE PEOPLE's TIME! Finally he said wait here and we'll probably be done by 10:30. I told him I've a meeting on 11 that I have to attend and he says Ok. On 10:30 I go to the counter and the manager was not available and one of the staff tells me that nothing has been done so far and when I asked for manager he says he can't come right now, wait a few minutes. I waited a few minutes and the manager didn't show up. I asked for my car keys to leave. I received a " appointment cancelled by the customer" I told him that this is very unprofessional to waste people's time and SHAME ON YOU TO TREAT ME LIKE THIS. The staff answered "I DON'T FEEL THE PAIN" Very unprofessional and disrespectful staff.

I scheduled an online appointment because my rear driver's side tire was bulging, and I needed a quick fix to avoid disrupting my work week. Along with the appointment, I ordered tires and services online, only to later discover that I "hadn't paid," which was strange since I had received a receipt. I commute an hour to work, and although my husband and I each have our own vehicles, we work opposite shifts in different directions in Maryland, making it challenging to rely on just one car. I dropped off my vehicle at 9 AM, the time of my appointment. The staff member checked me in but didn’t verify my details; he simply asked what I needed, and it seemed we were aligned. Around 3 PM, I called the shop for an update and was informed that he had tried to call me without success (the wrong number was on file) and that my wheel lock key was missing, requiring removal. This was unusual, as the technicians usually find the key without any issues. I agreed to pay over $70 for the removal, but they later called back to say they couldn’t proceed due to my car's design and that I needed to contact the dealership. I had to leave my car there since it was too late in the day to do anything else. On Monday, I finally found a dealership that could remove the wheel locks using a master key and replace them with regular bolts. I returned my car to the shop by 5:30 PM on Monday, and the front desk employee assured me it would be ready by Tuesday. I also asked if they could check my coolant, as it seemed low. I left thinking I just needed to endure one more day of this frustrating situation with the tires. On Tuesday, I arrived at the shop, but a different employee was at the desk and couldn’t find my keys. After searching, he found them in the back, which raised my concern since, in my experience working at an auto shop, if keys are in the back, the service isn’t complete. He asked me to pay, which I questioned since I had already paid online. He explained that it usually just requires a small adjustment, but I wondered why they allow online payments if that’s the case. When I asked if my coolant had been checked, he replied, "I don't know; I couldn't even find your keys." Frustrated, I left. Upon checking my tires, I noticed the bulging tire was still there, indicating they hadn’t performed the service. I returned to the shop to explain, and they assured me it would be done the next day, meaning I was without my car for four days over tires. When I returned my paperwork and keys, I again requested a coolant check. On Wednesday, my husband called to confirm that my car would actually be completed that day. When he first called, they told him they would look into it and call back. After an hour or more, he called again, and they said it was being worked on. I called later to ensure the coolant would be checked. The employee was quite rude, assuming I was only calling to check on the tire service. This was the third time I had asked about the coolant. When I picked up my car, the tires had finally been replaced, but the coolant was still at the minimum line. Frustrated, I decided to handle it myself. On my way to work Thursday, my tire pressure light came on, which was incredibly annoying. It seemed they hadn’t checked the pressure, or there was another issue. I had only purchased two tires to replace the bulging one and another, and I wanted them rotated to the front since my car is front-wheel drive, but that didn’t happen either. Overall, this shop has proven to be a waste of time with poor customer service. To make matters worse, when VW replaced my wheel locks, they returned them to me, but they were missing from my passenger seat when I picked up my car. I didn’t realize they were gone until I drove to work the next day. It’s been a frustrating experience.

Richard was an excellent service advisor. He helped us out the best he could with the cost and we appreciate that so much. My only criticism with the shop is the lack of providing a realistic time frame for completion.
