Very unprofessional and disrespectful. ZERO STAR As a healthcare provider with a very tight schedule, working 6 days a week to serve my community, I scheduled an appointment for MD state inspection a few days ahead of time and when I arrived there on the scheduled date and time, I was told by the manager that: "I have to tell you something that people don't like to hear! The state inspection is first come first served and that someone has arrived here a few minutes before you and that you have to drop your car and when we have time we do it" I asked so then what is the purpose of online scheduling? He said it's only for Pep Boys in Pennsylvania! AND I ANSWERED: How should I as a customer know that MD inspection at Pep Boys in Maryland is first come first served!!!! Why you guys just remove online scheduling for MD inspection to not WASTE PEOPLE's TIME! Finally he said wait here and we'll probably be done by 10:30. I told him I've a meeting on 11 that I have to attend and he says Ok. On 10:30 I go to the counter and the manager was not available and one of the staff tells me that nothing has been done so far and when I asked for manager he says he can't come right now, wait a few minutes. I waited a few minutes and the manager didn't show up. I asked for my car keys to leave. I received a " appointment cancelled by the customer" I told him that this is very unprofessional to waste people's time and SHAME ON YOU TO TREAT ME LIKE THIS. The staff answered "I DON'T FEEL THE PAIN" Very unprofessional and disrespectful staff.

I scheduled an online appointment because my rear driver's side tire was bulging, and I needed a quick fix to avoid disrupting my work week. Along with the appointment, I ordered tires and services online, only to later discover that I "hadn't paid," which was strange since I had received a receipt. I commute an hour to work, and although my husband and I each have our own vehicles, we work opposite shifts in different directions in Maryland, making it challenging to rely on just one car. I dropped off my vehicle at 9 AM, the time of my appointment. The staff member checked me in but didn’t verify my details; he simply asked what I needed, and it seemed we were aligned. Around 3 PM, I called the shop for an update and was informed that he had tried to call me without success (the wrong number was on file) and that my wheel lock key was missing, requiring removal. This was unusual, as the technicians usually find the key without any issues. I agreed to pay over $70 for the removal, but they later called back to say they couldn’t proceed due to my car's design and that I needed to contact the dealership. I had to leave my car there since it was too late in the day to do anything else. On Monday, I finally found a dealership that could remove the wheel locks using a master key and replace them with regular bolts. I returned my car to the shop by 5:30 PM on Monday, and the front desk employee assured me it would be ready by Tuesday. I also asked if they could check my coolant, as it seemed low. I left thinking I just needed to endure one more day of this frustrating situation with the tires. On Tuesday, I arrived at the shop, but a different employee was at the desk and couldn’t find my keys. After searching, he found them in the back, which raised my concern since, in my experience working at an auto shop, if keys are in the back, the service isn’t complete. He asked me to pay, which I questioned since I had already paid online. He explained that it usually just requires a small adjustment, but I wondered why they allow online payments if that’s the case. When I asked if my coolant had been checked, he replied, "I don't know; I couldn't even find your keys." Frustrated, I left. Upon checking my tires, I noticed the bulging tire was still there, indicating they hadn’t performed the service. I returned to the shop to explain, and they assured me it would be done the next day, meaning I was without my car for four days over tires. When I returned my paperwork and keys, I again requested a coolant check. On Wednesday, my husband called to confirm that my car would actually be completed that day. When he first called, they told him they would look into it and call back. After an hour or more, he called again, and they said it was being worked on. I called later to ensure the coolant would be checked. The employee was quite rude, assuming I was only calling to check on the tire service. This was the third time I had asked about the coolant. When I picked up my car, the tires had finally been replaced, but the coolant was still at the minimum line. Frustrated, I decided to handle it myself. On my way to work Thursday, my tire pressure light came on, which was incredibly annoying. It seemed they hadn’t checked the pressure, or there was another issue. I had only purchased two tires to replace the bulging one and another, and I wanted them rotated to the front since my car is front-wheel drive, but that didn’t happen either. Overall, this shop has proven to be a waste of time with poor customer service. To make matters worse, when VW replaced my wheel locks, they returned them to me, but they were missing from my passenger seat when I picked up my car. I didn’t realize they were gone until I drove to work the next day. It’s been a frustrating experience.

Richard was an excellent service advisor. He helped us out the best he could with the cost and we appreciate that so much. My only criticism with the shop is the lack of providing a realistic time frame for completion.

Let me just say, I appreciate the work these gents do. Corey didn’t work on my truck, but he did give me the best customer service experience while I waited.

Went here to get my tires balanced. Also I have gotten tires here and a oil change in the past. And a battery replaced. You will have to wait. But they do have a waiting area. And they do offer great service. One of the best things is they are open 7 days a week and they are open most holidays..

Nice that they send you a text link to follow along the service however that apparently replaces them calling you and advising you of any information. I took it in on Sunday for a belt and oil change. The notice advised Noise from under hood prior to service. Possible internal engine issue and the noise was still present after service. My car broke down 3 days later. This time the text notice advised of an entire paragraph of engine failure and problems with the Vanos system. I'm not saying they were responsible for the engine failure but the timing is suspect.

Visiting family, the rear brake line went in my 2002S. They manufactured a new one and was fully repaired in 3 days. Excellent communication and workmanship. Super job! Thank you!

Having a reservation for 9:00am I arrived at Pep Boys Frederick, at 8:55am ready to have the tire checked. After speaking to the counter man I was informed the reservation wouldn't be honored and there were 2 or 3 vehicles ahead of me. I was told a probable 2-3 hour wait. I chose to wait at home and in a couple hours called to check progress and was told the car was ready. OK, so all in all, not so bad an experience. However, a reservation should mean something. Job was done right with reasonable cost.

This place is a joke, I made an appointment over a week ago for 3 pm today , got multiple confirmations for my tire installation. Got there at 2:45 pm today only to be told by the store manager that they couldn’t install my tires until tomorrow, what a waste of my time and gas to get there. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this store and I will never go back.

I had a scheduled oil change appointment at the Pep Boys on West Patrick Street in Frederick at 9:00 AM. I arrived early around 8:45 and waited in the cold until 9:30 before they even opened the door. Despite being the very first appointment of the day, they started late and then took a full hour and 45 minutes just to complete a simple oil change. To make matters worse, they didn’t reset the maintenance alert in my car and didn’t update the mileage tag for the next service. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone.

Pep boys really needs to work on their communication. The first day I came here I had made an appointment on their website for 4:30 to have my state safety inspection done. When I got there they informed me that they stopped taking vehicles for safety inspections at 4 (their website lets you book them as late as 6), and don’t follow the appointments at all, and do it on a first-come first-served basis. Today when I came in at 2:40, they let me know that they actually stop taking vehicles for state safety inspections at 2. Both times I had a friend who had driven 20 minutes to pick me up, just to immediately have to turn around and go home. I am very lucky I was going before I actually NEED to, otherwise I could’ve had my registration expire. If they can’t get the simple things right, like listing their actual availability, or correctly communicating their availability, I can’t imagine trusting them with anything actually complicated like repair or maintenance work. Find somewhere more reliable for your car. Do better Pep Boys.

They are the best, been their customer for 10 years, even after moved to VA ,still drive and go to the boys being rest assured they will take good care of my car , and not over charging. David been awesome, made sure i get the best deal for my tires , friendly and always treats me like family, not recommending a service not necessary. I trust them completely.

Needed tire pressure sensors replaced. Dealer wanted $1000, checked 3 or 4 tire shops, all a lot less, but Pep Boys was a good bit less than the others at about $380. Sensors were reprogrammed sucessfully and I no longer have flashing lights and messages about it. The service writer was easy to work with and I got texts as the job progressed. Every thing you could want with a car repair shop.

Easy to schedule an appointment online. Really nice app to follow your progress. Only problem is the staff does not honor the appointments, they do not use the app. They seemed extremely puzzled about the whole process. The app said the car was available when it was not. Not sure if they said it was done on time because they are being tracked by the app. If they are being tracked by the app, then they lied and said it was done when it was not.

Disappointing experience at Pep Boys. I am a new Maryland resident and scheduled an 8am Maryland State Inspection with Pep Boys online at the Frederick location. Got confirmation via email and everything. I show up at 8am the day of my appointment and am told that State Inspections are first come first serve and that there were several people in front me (even though I made an appointment and they had just opened). They said that they likely couldn't get through my car until the end of the day. I took my business elsewhere and you should, too! This whole experience reminded me of the "Seinfeld" episode where Jerry makes a rental car reservation and the attendant tells him that there is no car for him even though he made the reservation. Pep Boys, be better, or at least remove the option to make a State Inspection appointment online if it won't be acknowledged by the people in store performing the work.

I went in for my car over heating light came on.took it to pep boys estimate to repair my vehicle was 1615.00 . Service was terrible the whole time they had my vehicle for a week. Never ever called to update me on the process that was being done. Didn't check to see if they accept snap finance. So after my car was repaired. U find out they don't accept it. Now they are holding onto your vehicle. Had they told me we didn't accept snap finance. I would of had my vehicle towed somewhere else that accept snap finance. Yes I will contact a lawyer for the stress they have caused me dealing with me getting my car back.and trying to find rides to work because of them not updates on my car. Judy stright. Never ever use this place.

I wish I could give this business location a zero. I ordered EV tires which are very expensive and this location fixed cheap non EV tires on my tesla while pretending that they installed EV tires. After driving for some time, I picked up a nail so I went back to them only for me to realize that they put in the wrong tires but they are saying they can not do anything about it because of the time frame. I have spoken to my lawyer and we are pressing charges against this business for their fraudulent activities. I initially gave the manager some time to resolve this issue but he didn't want to get this resolved so I have no choice but to seek legal action. Please stay away from this business location.

Would not recommend!! I bought brand new tires from them and had to bring my car back 4 times for low tire pressure. The fourth time I left my car with them from 8:30am-5pm (called at 4 and they had not even started) when I got up there I’m pretty sure they didn’t even bother to check my car as my tire pressure light was still on when I got in, but proceeded to tell me my rim was “visibly bent”. After asking them to at least put air in my tire before I left, he put air in the wrong tire and closed the garage gate. After taking it to another tire shop, my rim is NOT bent, pep boys installed the tire wrong. Do not come here for any maintenance, they will lie straight to your face.

Terrible experience with PepBoys. When an employee tells you things the most unorganized place he has ever worked. It’s going to be a disaster of an appointment. My car was suppose to take 2hrs at maximum, but when I returned 3.5 hours later my car was no where near completion. So I was told I would have to take my car now, that was unsafe to drive or wait until the following day. So I spent money on a ride back home as since I didn’t have my car and the employees weren’t going to go out of their way I had to find a ride to work and then when the car was completed find a ride back to the shop. So hundreds of dollars spend on rides for a shop I will never have service anything of mine or friends again!!! ***UPDATE*** Your complaints and or concerns are not valued and or even taken in to account. I went through all the proper channels to make a complaint about my experience and I have not been contacted by anyone about this experience. They receive the complaint and just sweep you under the rug. Do not and I repeat DO NOT let them service your vehicle, god forbid you have an issue.
