AWFULLLLLLLLLL DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE, IT WILL COME BACK DAMAGED! I rarely leave bad reviews, but I am appalled at the unprofessionalism and complete disregard from this place! About 6 months ago, we took my boyfriend’s truck here for an oil change. When he got the truck back, his muffler/tail pipe was hanging off. We paid out of pocket to have it fixed somewhere else, thinking it was just a fluke (spent about $500 + taking a day off of work to get fixed). Last week we took it back here again for an oil change (our biggest mistake), he got the truck back and the muffler/tail pipe was completely jammed, bent, and worse than the first time. We let them know that this is the 2nd time this has happened and we would like them to fix it or to cover the bill to have it fixed. The manager called us and admitted that they messed it up but said he doesn’t understand why they should have to pay for it. Apparently, they have a special type of jack to lift your vehicle, and when you drop it off you are supposed to explain every aspect of your vehicle in detail to them to prevent them from damaging it (this was not asked or disclosed to us until now). We are not looking for hand-outs and simply just wanted them to make the situation right with us… we were met with the opposite response, not even a refund for the oil change!!!! We were repeat customers who have been using Pep-Boys for years.. NEVER AGAIN!

We are new Pep Boys customers. After researching tire prices, we found that they had a nice selection of tires and had a great sale on the ones we wanted. The receptionist was very polite and helpful. We dropped my car off and ran errands until she called when the tires were on. The entire transaction went smooth, and we were very happy with our tires.

I took my wife’s 2019 Armada to Pep Boys for a synthetic oil change and a step one fuel service package today in Opelika Alabama. I could not change the oil myself because of a recent knee surgery I had and the tires we bought from pep boys needed rotated as well so I figured they could do it all. When I picked the Armada up it was not completely full of oil. It was 1/2 - 1 quart low. I went in to let the guy at the counter know and instead of coming out to the car to look at the dip stick before I left he proceeds to tell me that they put in the amount the car calls for. What???? He does not offer to look at the dip stick to see what the level is instead he calls out to someone in the back to ask how much oil did they put in it. Why does it matter, it’s not full like I paid for. It wasn’t that big of a fix but he made it that big of a fix. Come on man, I just paid $145.32 for this service and you couldn’t come out and verify what I was saying???? What mechanic cannot read a dipstick????? And to top that off, they had spilled oil all over the top of the motor. I was gonna let that go but not with the attitude this dude was getting about at most a quarter of oil. Rant over and Pep Boys, you lost a customer and hopefully many more when they read this.

Great Service!! Tanasha and the brake technician (I can't remember his name; but he had twists/dreads) provided excellent customer service with a smile. I couldn't get my trunk to stay closed, so the brake technician came out to assist me. They definitely should be recognized for their satisfactory service.

I took it by to get my radiator hose connector fixed, they didnt even look at that, instead insisted that I had a leak near thermostat and claimed they put a "dye" in the system, which was green radiator fluid which is not supposed to be in my car(manufacturers spec) and then told me to come back after i wash my undercairrage so they can find the leak when the leak was at the hose fitting, where i told them it was, charged me $80 and told me to come back and that the follow up inspection would be extra $. didnt even fix the issue. i wound up having to take it to another place and it was fixed within 30 minutes.

I recently visited Pep Boys after discovering a nail in my tire🥹 I was pleasantly surprised by their honesty and excellent customer service. Instead of exaggerating the issue and suggesting a costly tire replacement, they assured me that the nail hadn't penetrated my tire and was just on the outside👍 They went above and beyond by not charging me for the service. The staff was incredibly friendly throughout the process. A big shoutout to the team for their transparency and kindness! ✿˘◡˘✿

If I could review the one in Auburn, Phenix City, and Opelika all in one here we go…this was the last stop and last time with Pep Boys. NEVER take your car here. I had 4 new tires put on in August 2024..early summer I had a rattle. I took it and the one on College said I need two new back tires. I explained I justbbougt them they told me I had Jo warranty what so ever. Upon learning this I call Goodyear…they said that was false. Fat forward I had a blow out and they still r refused to work make it right or work with Goodyear. They said the tires were good, but I needed new struts in the back that was what was wrong. Long story short I had to have my car towed to a place that would actually fix my car. Don’t let them touch your car. BTW it was just the way they installed my tire…struts were fine.

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. They botched a brake job and sent me off in an unsafe situation. I took it to Auburn Starters and Generators where they fixed the situation and also told me that part of the job Pepboys said they did was not ever done and why my whole vehicle shook every time I applied pressure to the brakes. I called and spoke to the manager Sterling to talk about this and he not only denied it but YELLED at me, so safe to say he has absolutely zero management skills. However, the woman that works up front was great. If she's reading this I hope she considers quitting and working somewhere else.

I wish they had zero so I can choose it. Very unsatisfied:((( I went to them with reports that indicate system lean code and showed it to them. I told them explicitly that I've been checking a list of parts to figure out what is causing this code. I TOLD them I changed the o2 sensor, MAF sensor, pcv valve, and now I believe I have a vacuum leak and I'm here because I want to test that. They said come in two days we will bring the smoke test machine and test that vacuum leak for $59. I came back in two days as they told me, and he said oh sorry we didn't bring the smoke machine!!! I was unhappy and said but we set an appointment! When I was leaving, they said we can run a diagnostic for you. I asked is it going to tell me the issue I came for, he said yes but you will need to pay $110!!! It turned out they are just going to scan the code which I did like six times before and WALKED IN WITH REPORTS TO SHOW THAT! he said it's the o2 sensor and I told him I told you I changed it twice and came here to test one thing, the vacuum leak. They made me pay the $110 and got nothing done or tested. I didn't get any service for the vacuum leak which is the original reason I went to them for and told them I checked other things but he still just ran a scan that I ran six times and charged me $110 for it. To be fair, the guy and the girl were convinced that it wasn't fair and were going to refund me but then the manager stopped them in the middle of the process and told me to leave. I was speaking nice to all of them but he was rude. I didn't like this place and will NEVER GO THERE. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE:(( forgot to say that he offered to run the smoke test which was for $59 and I asked are you going to refund the rest, he said no! So he charged me double the price for the smoke test!! And told me to come back on Saturday for the test, I went and guess what? They said we forgot to bring the smoke machine AGAIN!!! What a disrespect and wasting of customers time and effort. THIS IS SO BAD ...

What a wonderful group of people at this store, Sterling at the counter greeted me with a a big old smile and said, welcome and what can we do to make your day better. It was all good from there. I got a great deal on tires, great warranty, with free installation. During the installation inspection they noticed my front brakes were bad, showed me, and proceeded with replacing the brake shoes while the tires were off, with my approval. Everything was so smooth, from finding the tires online, calling the store for appointment, and a very efficient staff that was friendly, courteous, and giving me a real sense of trust in what they said and how they performed! And I forgot, I got a military discount after all was tallied up, that was nice. This was one of the few times that I felt good about spending money. Trust goes a long ways. Thank you Sterling, the staff, and Pep Boys store #1597, I will be back

Very disappointed with Pep Boys in Opelika . I brought in my new car — a 2015 Mustang V6 in excellent condition for a simple oil change, and they overfilled the engine with oil. Instead of fixing their mistake properly, they only offered to “drain a little,” which is not professional and could put my engine at risk. A service shop should do the job right the first time, especially on a well-maintained vehicle. I paid for proper service and got careless work instead. I do not recommend this location if you care about your car.
