honest evaluation, no unwarranted up-selling, reasonable price for work done. Alerted me to a problem with my exhaust system that I would not otherwise noticed - repair work not offered by Pep Boys - suggested I seek repair elsewhere. I have used this Pep Boys location several times during the past year. I trust them. It's like having an old fashioned neighborhood mechanic - not what one expects from a chain store.

Roger was very helpful and respectful. He recommended that I purchase a back set of tires before the rain comes. The service was quick. I went away with a smile!!

I encountered a discrepancy between the online price of a Starfire tire listed at $98.60 on the Pep Boys website and the in-store price of $150.00 at the Sunnyvale location. The representative informed me that online prices are not honored without an appointment, which I find to be an illogical policy.

Purchased a set of 4 tires for my Jeep Renegade. Great value. Got an appointment within a hour on the same day.

I had to have my headlights replaced, and also got new windshield wipers. They were very busy, but I did not mind the wait which was not that long. The cost was reasonable, and there was absolutely no overselling. I will definitely go back!

These people cannot be trusted and have no integrity whatsoever. My car was dropped off running at Pep Boys and was returned completely dead. The tow driver had a very hard time backing it up and immediately noted new noises and suspected a transmission issue that was not present when he picked up the vehicle from my house and took it to them. When we took it to a different repair shop, the new shop confirmed a transmission problem I did not have before, and the estimated repair cost is $8,439.64. On top of everything, When I declined Pep Boys services, the car was returned to me parked in human waste. I contacted the store and the area managers and no one cares to call back. Terrible experience, and I strongly warn anyone to be aware of what could happen to them!

Came here to write my one star review (bc I cant go lower) wish I saw all the other horrible reviews of this place before coming here. Long story short, they scratched my bumper at some point while working on my car. Then when they told me they'd "check the cameras" and get back to me, they told me "yeah sorry, my guys didnt do anything to scratch your bumper". Yet it somehow mysteriously appeared during the time they had it. Roger, the manager, is about as bright as the bumper that they scratched. Good luck trying to hold a conversation with that genius. Not to mention, one of the employees starts complaining about a customer he was on the phone with the second he hangs up the phone, with other customers in the store able to hear him. Horrible customer service. Wouldn't even need good customer service to be honest, just dont scratch my car then lie about it. And the "corporate" number you call to file a complaint is just as useless. Was told I'd get a call back from Javier, the area director withing 24-48 hrs. Its been weeks Javier, great job at making this right 👍🏼 Bottom line is, don't go to this pep boys unless you want terrible service and your car damaged. Manny, Moe, and Jack would be embarrassed by this place 😂

I had the best experience today! First, I went to the wrong pep boys. When I called, they were so kind to me about it and said just to come over and they would fit me in. Then, I had the wrong coupon, and they helped be get the right one. I will definitely be coming back!

Where to begin… I visited this Pep Boys location in Sunnyvale twice—and both times, it was a frustrating experience. Visit #1: I went in ready to purchase a specific set of tires. I had already chosen the model and specifications. However, the person at the counter kept pushing other tire brands and models. When I reiterated that I had already made my choice, he snapped at me, saying there were “other options” I should consider. I calmly asked if he actually wanted to make a sale or not, told him I wasn’t interested in the upsell, and left. As I was walking out, I heard him mutter something rude under his breath. Strike 1. Visit #2: I returned after having the tires delivered to the store. This time, the woman at the counter seemed visibly annoyed from the moment I walked in—probably because I interrupted whatever she was watching on her phone. She was dismissive and borderline hostile. I asked her to please not be rude, at which point she said she’d get someone else to help me. Strike 2. Thankfully, the manager (I believe his name is Roger) stepped in and was professional. He managed to schedule the service and get my car in. The Issue: After the tires were installed, I noticed the signature white lettering that was supposed to be on the outside of the tires wasn’t visible. Thinking Tire Rack sent the wrong product, I called them. They were helpful and asked me to double-check if the tires were installed with the white lettering facing inward. To my surprise, they were. Despite trusting Pep Boys as “tire experts,” they had installed the tires incorrectly. Strike 3: When I went back to have this corrected, I was told it was my fault for not specifying which way the tires should be mounted. That’s completely absurd. • The tires are clearly marked. • They had the tires in their own warehouse—I never even saw them until after installation. • Any competent installer should know how to mount them correctly. To make matters worse, this time the manager (the same one who had previously been helpful) was dismissive and told me I would need to pay the full price again to have the tires reinstalled properly. No accountability. No ownership. No mention of any warranty or service guarantee. ⸻ Bottom Line: If you’re expecting expertise, professionalism, or even basic courtesy—look elsewhere. Mistakes happen, but blaming the customer for your own lack of attention to detail is unacceptable. If Pep Boys responds to this review, I’m sure they’ll continue the trend and put the blame back on me. Consider this your warning.

Friendly staff and They do discuss before adding or removing any part from the car. The task is completed in their suggested timelines Approx wait time for minor changes / tire rotation ~ 1.5-2 hours depending on the traffic. Longer changes take longer time. They update you via message services as soon as car can be picked up. They do provide a detailed status report

I had a very disappointing experience at this place. I brought my car in for an alignment, but things quickly went downhill. First, the staff didn’t even know how to start my car, which was already frustrating. The worst part was that there was only one mechanic available, and I was told I would have to wait five hours just for an alignment. This was completely unacceptable. I understand that things can get busy, but being told to wait this long with no alternative or assistance made me feel extremely neglected. Not only did I feel like my time wasn’t respected, but it also felt like the staff was unprepared to handle basic tasks. It was a huge inconvenience and left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I had expectations of professionalism and efficiency, but this experience was the exact opposite. It’s really disheartening when you take your car in for a simple service and end up feeling more stressed out than when you came in. I really hope the management takes the time to improve their staff training and customer service. This experience has left a sour taste, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable service.

This store has a very high turn around with employees. Everytime you come it’s someone different. I brought tires from the store lest than a year ago , and got an oil change. I came in the in to get my oil changed and car diagnostic if I needed anything else. They told me I needed new tires. I told the guy look my car up then replace them because I have a warranty it’s been less than a year. That my car is barely driven. It stays in the garage most of the time. He said oh let me take a look myself. Then called me back and said the other guy was wrong when they sent me pictures of the tires. Now I have to take my car to another tire place to make sure they don’t need to be replaced.

Scheduled the appointment for tire change and rims replacement. Team was responsive and help to reschedule appointment not once, but twice. Team provided extremely professional service with great result! I want to highlight Jason with outstanding commucation skills and customer orientation. He let me know about any concern that I should know about and helped to resolve those. Additional kudos to technical specialist Matthew who provided complimentary vihecle inspection and pinpointed potential issues. In total, the provided service was fast and pleasant!

I paid $1,650 for brakes, oil change, and an air filter. When I picked up my car, the door handle was broken. Rodger Bee first promised it would be fixed if I came back the next day, but when I returned, nothing had been done and he didn’t even mention it. When I asked again, he claimed the handle was already broken when I dropped the car off and showed “pre-inspection” photos. I know for certain it wasn’t broken — if it had been, we wouldn’t have been able to exit the car without noticing. After spending $1,650 on service, why would I argue over a $20 handle? When I calmly asked to see the timestamp on the photos, Rodger became hostile, pointed at paperwork without explanation, and told me to leave or he would call the cops — while I was holding my 18‑month‑old child. This was not only unprofessional, it was unacceptable behavior toward a paying customer. I filed a complaint with Pep Boys, but after 5 days there has been no response. This store clearly lacks accountability and customer care. Avoid this location at all costs. If you encounter Rodger, ask for someone else immediately.

Terrible customer service, we call because we have an emergency, they said it’s not a big problem and then, as soon I was checking in for my appointment the guy at the counter canceled on me and said they can’t do the job today. Awful customer service, the representative super angry and aggressive. Do not come to this place if you have an emergency. I have to drive 2 hours to my home town risking my life just because they didn’t want to check my car. Terrible service!

They somehow messed up my car suspension while doing other maintenance, and then they asked me to pay extra to get a suspension inspection when I complained. I recommend going somewhere else that will do the repairs properly the first time. S&S tire and auto repairs is nearby. Another mechanic told me that the mechanics at pep boys definitely did not take the car for a test drive before returning it to me, which is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Not sure what the unfavorable reviews are about. The service from Pep Boys in Sunnyvale was excellent! Everyone at the front desk was funny and helpful. No one tried to upsell us services. There were no hidden fees or surcharges. The Tech who serviced our vehicle was very thorough in his report, and honest with his recommendations. The job was done in less time than anticipated, under the price quoted. We will definitely be returning for additional services here in the future.

I came in specifically for an annual inspection for uber through hertz. I called ahead of time and came in and confirmed. They put on new tires, oil change, and wipers credited to them but then didn't complete the inspection. The assistant manager said it's easier for me to pay the $20 then it is for them to make a new work order. But this is a rental that I am already paying for! They could have easily apologized and not charged the $20 after they got hundreds of dollars worth of work.

If I could give a negative rating I would for this location. Made an 8:30am appointment for today several days prior for 4 tires change for my BMW. Arrived on time. Employee Jason examined my tires and said he needed wheel lock keys. Showed him the box containing it and he said they weren’t it and suggested I let them either “bust” the wheel bolts for an additional $100 or get the wheel lock keys at a nearby BMW. Drove to a nearby bmw and they confirmed i in fact had the correct keys. By the time I returned, there were additional customers ahead of me and Jason didn’t even apologize. After more than 2 hours of waiting, I asked when my tires can be replaced and Jason started giving me attitude saying “that’s why you should plan ahead of time.” Are you kidding me? I decided to leave right then and there. Embarrassed to say this was not my first time visiting this location, but every time I visit, Jason parrots “we are super busy” like a greeting. If you are ok with wasting time & being treated like this service provider’s time is always more important than a paying customer’s time, by all means go to this location. Management should immediately do something about Jason as he does an extreme disservice to not only the branch location but also to the overall image/brand of Pepboys. Suffice to say, will never ever use another Pepboys. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION.

The inspection, which usually takes 10-15 minutes, took them 2 hours, and they almost immediately took my car to work on it. Inspection results: - They recommended that I replace my cabin filter (I installed a cabin filter 4 weeks ago). Question about the quality of their inspection and how does this relate to the TNC inspection? - They told me that I CANNOT pass the Lyft inspection because I have bald tires (I replaced the tires 6 weeks ago). I passed the inspection a year ago with tires in a similar condition and was told that it was normal (it was at a normal service station). - They told me that I CANNOT pass the Lyft inspection without a “tire alignment.” Which in itself seems like a blatant lie, since there are no such requirements for TNC cars. - They said that there are “Dashboard Lights” and they need to be fixed, I will attach a photo, there is nothing there. This is just the beginning; there isn't enough space here to describe all their lies and blackmail. They told me that if I didn't pay ~$1,000, I wouldn't pass the inspection... They charged me $19.99 for this humiliation. Draw your own conclusions. Judging by the reviews, I'm not the first person to encounter their manipulative tactics. Find me by name on social media, I intend to file a class-action lawsuit.
