From start to finish my whole experience was horrible. They completely take advantage of their customers. I spent hundreds of dollars for them to “fix” my car just for my check engine light to come back on and when I called to get an explanation they told me I would get a call back and they never did. Worst experience ever!

Giving this place a two star only because in the end they did help with a small-scale issue that could have gone bad. From the first phone call the guy was rude and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. Later I was quoted for the literal thing I thought it was - THEN I called to have my car towed out to another mechanical shop for said problem only to have had the issue resolved by the shop BUT only to have the mechanic belittle the action of the problem. THEN it kind of felt like they wanted to hold my car ransom due to other problems going on with the vehicle. Either way the energy here is weird and loutish.

This location is horrible! First, when I went to drop off my car, I mentioned that I had a coupon from their website and the guy serving me acted like it was the biggest inconvenience in the world. If it wasn't for another guy being there to intervene, he probably wouldn't have honored the coupon. Then, I asked how long the car may take (just an oil change and tire rotation) and he said a couple hours. A couple should mean about 2 hours right? Wrong! It took nearly 5 hours! All of this stuff was already frustrating enough, but then the scams started. When it was time to pick up my vehicle, the mechanic called me and tried to tell me that my battery has failed all of their inspections and needs to be replaced immediately. I thought that was very strange because I just got a brand new battery installed less than 5 months ago. I told them this and the mechanic argued with me and insisted that it was a defective battery and I had to get it replaced. He tried to charge me extra $$ to do so, to which I argued because I will just bring it back to AutoZone where I have a warranty and they will change for free. When I pick up my car, there were greasy hand prints all around my vehicle, and my steering wheel and gear shift were very sticky. Awful! Then, I take it to AutoZone where they tell me that my battery is perfectly fine! They informed me that the bolts were a little loose and just needed some tightening. They were just as surprised as me when they found out it was PepBoys saying it was bad! They were even concerned if was charged extra by them and that they might be trying to run a scam. I have been taking my car to PepBoys for years and have never had this kind of awful service from them before. Avoid this location at all costs! They will lie to you, try to scam you, and leave your car in worse shape than when you came in.

Bad bad bad service. My son took his car to this PepBoys gor a faulty EVAP Purge Canister and what do they do? They charge him $150 for a diagnostic to confirm what he alreafy knew from the code print out from AutoZone. Then they proceed to do the repair and return the car only to find out that they charged him another $100 to wipe the gas tank lid and called that a fix and cleared the code. Low and behold, yhe check engine light comes back on, he takes it back and they tell him that it will be over $500 to repair after they do another diagnostic and try and charge him for the exact same code that they never repaired. I step in because the EVAP Canister costs $27 at AutoZone and it is literally 6 clips to remove and put on. I go pick up yhe car from him and I challenged the manager on several things about their so-called repair and he admits that they did not do any repair as they previously stated and the work bill showed. They literally stole $250 from my son and did the old bait and switch of repair shops. Then I pressed the manager about yhe diagnostic being applied to the repair and ge tells me that it was never their practice when I tell him yo read his own sign that is customer facing that says if the repair is done there they waive the diagnostic fee. After I caught him in several lies and he did not want to deal with me he tells me the part needed will run at a minimum $250 dollars. I had alreafy found the part at AutoZone and show him the true cost of $27 dollars. All of this shows exactly what this PepBoys is all about. Screw over the customer and hope that they are dumb enough to fall for their scam. Well they are being reported to the BBB and the attorney General's office for fraud. Best part is I recorded my interaction with this manager and will be sharing that with the attorney General as well. These type of places need yo be shut down and PepBoys is well beyond their usefulness to this world.

Gross incompetence and do not preform any work they claim to have done. Simple EVAP service where the shop was told what I wanted done and they charged for a diagnostic which confirmed exactly what I requested. Does this shop do the work. No they do not. They claim to have cleaned the fuel nozzle filler flap and did not do the work that was actually approved. Find out they didn't even do the cleaning they charged for. When I brought this up to the management team they say they will credit me 0.5 hour of labor to bring my car back to fix another issue that was also not requested. How does a car repair shop like this stay in business? They use to be great but this management team has one goal and one goal only. Extort as much money out of the customer as they possibly can and take zero responsibility. This Pep Boys on Alma School Rd in Chandler, AZ should be permanently closed. Also, when they reply to this message trying to show they care and want me to reach out to their email address they do nothing. Corporate should be ashamed of what they have allowed Pep Boys to become. I will never let my car be touched by any Pep Boys employee ever again!

Fantastic service. Such friendly and thorough employees. I trust Pep Boys with all of my service needs; including new tires. They have been in the valley forever and a trusted honest business who really cares about their customers. I know nothing about auto repairs and could be an easy target for being overpriced/adding non needed services. No worries about that here. Integrity is their middle name.

Was in a rush on a Sunday. Told them I was leaving town 2x and I just need a tire. It took about 2 hrs and they called me 2 or 3 times trying to sell me other things. The clown tire tech broke the center cap, Left the sticker on the tire, didn't put the cap back on the valve stem. They also charged me extra for a service they didn't do. 0 stars.
