I would not recommend this place. I paid for new tires that had to be ordered, but when I returned, the ones installed were lower quality. Despite raising concerns, the installation went ahead. Two months later, one of them went flat. Poor product and misleading service.

First of all, I know the team well for many many years as I service two cars with them. Kudos to Besim Tahiri the store manager, Chris, Jonathan and Eric for taking care of the insurance company responsible for the recent suspension repair. Handled all the details from beginning to end. All I had to do is come and pick up the keys... A solid team for sure ....

I booked my oil change online. I requested conventional quaker state motor oil on the reservation app. I picked up the car and was told that they used platinum synthetic motor oil and charged me for the higher priced motor oil. I do not appreciate being put into that situation. I felt like I was forced into paying for this higher priced oil because the attendants did not bother to read my request.

I had brake work done on my Jeep in Florida and the jeep was not driving right and it did not feel good at all so when I went to NY I brought it to my regular Pep Boys shop only to find out that the brakes weren’t bleed correctly and there were other issues with the job that was done on it… it’s not like it was an oil change this was a full brake job and it could of cause a lot of safety issues…I should of never brought the jeep to the Pep boys in Florida to begin with , if it wasn’t for the Manager There Tim my Jeep would of been totally destroyed !!! Thanks to the staff on Forest Ave for fixing the issue …

Cris repaired my tire leak and after went checking on any play on the suspension system and axel bearing play if any. He found the passenger outer tie rod needs replacing. I’m handy in doing the work, so I will replace it. I’d say he went beyond his job taking a few minutes it took. Kudos to Cris on Forest ave SI.

Came to change my tires on my brand new 2024 car and the first time changing them tires and they damaged the tire sensor !!! Than tried telling me I need to pay extra to fix it, my car was perfectly fine before they had it After I got it back the “service tire monitor system” light was on, they do not want to be responsible they just said the battery died but their mechanic was struggling with my tire to put it on …. Had to unmount and mount… but yet it wasn’t them right… second time they damaged something on my car…. The first time was 3 years ago, broke my tire bolt… on a different car… now this!! Don’t use this pep boy they damaged something your car so you can come back !!! SMH I emailed headquarters and they don’t care!! Find a different place to do your car services … cause this ain’t it …

If there was rating below one star I would definitely choose it because the overall service was unsatisfactory to say the least. I would not recommend doing business at this Pepboys now or ever. Want my advice? Take your car to another service center. I have never dealt with a place with so much unprofessionalism in my life.

I would give below 1 star if I could! We dropped our car off on a Friday to get our tail lights replaced. Saturday it wasn’t ready and went back Sunday just to find out NOTHING had been done and they were telling us there was a short and they found all other problems with our car. So now we find out the mechanic really wanted to buy our car, he made us an unreasonable offer, so now we know he was making up all this BS so we would get rid of it. Also The place is disgusting. Mice running around the coffee/waiting room. Long story short we took our car to the mechanic in Richmondtown and he fixed the tail lights with no other issues found, no problem. DO NOT go to this pep boys on Forest Ave.

Went in for a simple oil change, I was there early. After the job was completed. My car was returned, I checked the oil dip stick, and there was no reading!?. I checked 2 more times to be sure. Dry as a beach. I then checked to see if the oil gauge was changed. Nope!. I went inside and showed the counter associate the problem. He then went and got the person who did the oil change. The guy swore he filled it, but I had to remind him to reset the oil gauge. So they finally brought the car in and back out to me. So, as I pulled off, I noticed they didn't even put a new oil sticker on my windshield, reminding me of the next oil change. I'm just hoping that they actually put full synthetic at this point. I will never go back there again. This part is not shade. The place looks deserted, and with a note of some changes, they are about to take place.

All the employees at Pep Boys are very courteous and professional. They get the job done without worry or overpricing. I dropped off car with Ease and knew my car was in good hands! I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a tune up, inspection or any other problem 🤔 that may come their way.

🚫 DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE SCAMMERS — WORST EXPERIENCE EVER (Pep Boys) I had one of the most stressful and dishonest service experiences of my life at Pep Boys, and I’m writing this so other people don’t get trapped the way I did. I found Pep Boys online, but their website didn't allow me to add only TWO tries to my shopping cart for my 4WD vehicle. So I found the phone number listed on Google Maps for the nearest location. I called with only one purpose: to find out if they could replace only TWO tires on a 4WD vehicle. A person with an Indian accent answered and said yes, and then asked for my vehicle details and tire size. I gave everything clearly. He offered a good price and said he would email me the quote. The email didn’t arrive right away, so he said he’d resend it. What I received was a duplicated email that contained ONLY the tire name and the cost of replacing two of them — no vehicle info, no tire size, no details about who provided the quote. When I arrived for my appointment, I again confirmed that I was replacing TWO REAR TIRES ONLY. They took my keys and told me it would take about 1.5 hours. About an hour later, I walked near the bays and saw they had removed ALL FOUR WHEELS from my car. I asked why, and they said they had an order for replacing all four. Then the manager comes out and tells me I have two separate orders, each for two tires, and if I only want one order, I must pay a $30 restocking fee to cancel the second one. I disagreed and explained that this was a clear mistake by their person answering the phone. The manager refused to listen, he kept repeating that it was my fault because I placed two orders and therefore had to pay, and then he simply left. It gets worse: I looked at the tires they were trying to install and they were the WRONG SIZE. The manager admitted they didn’t even have the correct size in stock — and then tried to charge me a restocking fee for FOUR TIRES, now claiming it would be 20% (~$150). He blamed me for their own mistakes. When I asked them to find the person I spoke to or pull the call recording, he said he “can’t help” and told me to complain to corporate. The only “help” offered was reducing the fee to about 10% (~$75). In the end, to get my keys back and leave, I was forced to pay $83. They STOLE my TIME, MONEY, and PEACE OF MIND. I later found out that the phone number listed on Google Maps is being forwarded overseas. This means you wo NOT be talking to the local shop at all, but to someone in India who has no idea what they're doing. Meanwhile, the store refuses to take any responsibility for what's happening. This is either gross incompetence or an intentional bait-and-fee setup. Either way: AVOID Pep Boys!!!

On January 9th, 2026, I drove my vehicle to my local pepboys located at 1941 Forest ave, I paid for the 120-point inspection and requested a tune-up. After a few hours I receive a call from pepboys saying the results from the inspection were fine aside from a sensor and that the tune-up wasn't needed. After receiving reassurance from the employees and being told I "Just have to drive the car", I do. As I am driving by myself and with reassurance, the car shuts off and the steering wheel locks up.

The prices are okay and the front desk has basic courtesy which is why I believe two stars is appropriate, but this shop leaves A LOT to be desired. If you're desperate to save a dollar, don't mind waiting half a day for simple service, and you're willing to double check their work then this shop is for you. First, they took my $600 deposit for new tires and said they would call me the next morning and did not. I had things to do that evening and I needed my car for work the next day, so I called them in the afternoon when I didn't hear from them and they told me everything was ready and to come in right away. No problem. Mistakes happen. Second, I went in right away as they requested and waited as my car sat in their parking lot untouched for the first three hours or so even though "everything was ready". Once again, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited patiently. Third, my tires finally got mounted and I asked to keep the best of my old ones as a spare just in case. They told me it was in the trunk. It wasn't. It was still in their shop. No big deal on its own, but it definitely added negatively to the experience as a whole. Fourth, I get in my car, drive the length of the parking lot to update the tire sensors and every single tire is giving me a low pressure warning. Each tire is 8-10 psi below the recommended pressure of 42 psi. On a brand new install! I can put air in my tires myself but why should I have to immediately after spending $1000+ on a new set of tires? Is the air not included in that purchase? I walked back in and nicely explained the problem to the front desk. They proceeded to tell me the tires were filled up properly without checking a thing. They tried explaining that the sensors needed time to update via driving which is true, but I had already done that. To remove any doubt, I decided get back in my car and carefully drive a couple miles on low pressure as the shop suggested. The tire pressure did not go above 35 in any tire. The gentleman at the front desk suggested I come back if the pressure did not update so I did, because once again, is the proper amount of air in a set of new tires an unreasonable request? They had me pull around to fix it and after another wait, the adults sent out a teenager to fix their mistake. He filled up all 4 tires. I asked him what he filled them to. He says 40. 42 is recommended. He never bothered to check the label that is on every car for the recommended psi before putting air in. I understand that 2 psi is not a big deal, but at this point, if you're capable of messing up so many simple things, then I am scared to see how are you handle the complex things. The icing on the cake was that they sent me the vehicle inspection report (which I attached) after I got home that showed they filled the tires to 35 instead of the recommended 42. They are so incompetent that they provided the proof of their own incompetence. Little mistakes and annoyances throughout the entire process added up to make this experience a very frustrating one that was not worth the few dollars saved. Spend another $50 and go to a better shop.

I went to Pep Boys for a routine oil change and to have an engine light checked that appeared on my dashboard. After inspection I was told the engine light was just a glitch caused by the car thinking the hood was open when it was not I was charged $100 just to have the error code checked and I was informed that this fee would not be credited even if I decided to repair the issue with them. Ted Weins actually applies that fee toward repairs so this was frustrating. When I picked up my car everything seemed normal but after checking more closely I noticed the oil life meter had not been reset and there was no oil change sticker on my windshield showing when my next service is due. I’m not a car expert but that alone made me question whether the oil change was actually done. When I asked about resetting the oil percentage the mechanic didn’t know how to do it. They also recommended that my brakes and rotors needed replacement which I agreed to based on their advice. However, given all the issues and lack of attention to detail, the entire experience made me seriously question whether the work was done properly at all. Overall this visit left me with more doubts than confidence. Lesson learned I won’t be coming back.

DO NOT BUY TIRES W/ INSTALLATION FROM THIS LOCATION. Their tech stripped lug nuts on all 4 of my tires and the same tire has gone flat twice within a year, the first time being the day I had the work done. Another Pep Boys location in NJ attempted to fix all of the damage and confirmed the install was problematic, and called the regional office to file a report so their location could be reimbursed for the work. Now within a year one of the bolts has broken off (when AAA tech was trying to change the same tire, also confirming there was no nail or visible reason the tire went flat), and this Pep Boys quoted a price to fix it that is nearly half of what I spent on getting all new tires. The manager says they are not responsible b/c the car has “changed through too many hands” and also confirmed the SAME TECH IS STILL SERVICING VEHICLES AT THIS LOCATION. Do not take the risk!
