I've never been a fan of big chain repair shops and always try to find a mechanic who owns and runs his (or her) own shop.  Did some research when I moved to town and found Joe and Pop’s Garage. Just what I was looking for. Joe is honest, dependable, reliable, trustworthy and any other superlative you can think of.  He’s nursed my 16 year old Hondas along for three years and I have every confidence in him. We took a used car to him that we were considering buying; Joe checked it out thoroughly and found a leaking transmission.  That alone probably saved us a $2000 repair bill if we had bought the car. For a personal mechanic you can trust, you can't go wrong with Joe.

I’ve been coming to Pops Garage for the past few years. The owner Joe; is honest, professional, and up front with you on any issues you may have with your car/truck. That is my experience with my truck. It was full of problems that other shops could not figure out. Joe was able quickly find the issue and fix my truck. I have been looking for a reliable, honest mechanic for over 20 years. It appears nowadays that's an oxymoron...I came upon Joe after seeing his ad in a local magazine, and after reading his reviews decided to pay him a visit. I liked Joe on the spot. He has a calm, everything will be all right vibe that puts you at ease. I sensed he was honest and knew what he was doing, and decided to trust him with my 2006 Infiniti G35 that has over 100k miles. I normally would have never done this but I'm very glad I did... He performed the scheduled maintenance and everything he felt was needed to keep us going strong. The car runs beautifully and I feel I was treated honestly and fairly. Upon picking up the car he came out with a bucket and showed us all the parts he had replaced, and explained everything he had done and why. Try that at the dealer... Very happy overall, and will certainly bring any car I own to him in the future.

30 years I have been looking for a good honest mechanic. I can honestly say I have found one. Joe was so kind. Got me in and all I needed was a oil change and tire rotation.. He recommended synthetic oil would last longer and better for my car. I watched him without him knowing through the window that led to the back. He was so professional in what he was doing. He checked tire pressure also took out all filters and instead of trying to sell me new ones cleaned them for me. topped off all of my fluids and didn't try and sell me anything as all mechanics I have ever dealt with have tried. I completely recommend this man to any and everyone. You know you are going to be taken care of and in good hands. I know now I have a trustworthy mechanic for life. After relocating from NYC to Florida, I was looking for a good, honest mechanic, as my mechanic from NYC was a family friend, and I dealt with him pretty much since I have been driving. I brought my car into Pop's for a problem and I could not be happier. He is always fair and honest and offers me the best price possible. I have never had any problems with my car after he works on them. Overall, a great mechanic. I would not go anywhere else!!

I’ve used Joe along with a buddy of mine a few couple of times and collectively spent well over 50-60k and it was ALWAYS something new bringing us back. He also tricked me into selling him some afe headers i had for basically free saying they were nothing special which I found out afterwards were worth over 2k used in the condition they were. Not to mention the countless things from my vehicle never returned that weren’t cheap. To top it off his attitude these days is extremely rude and could careless what you’ve spent with him if you aren’t spending it anymore.. dont let the nice friendly banter to get you in the door fool you. Also who throws out receipts after 3 years. Such a joke and conman.

Very very bad experience. Joe bypassed my computer to fix my air conditioner. It cost over $3000 + worth of nothing. He had it for a month because he ruined my computer to my car. We had to pay for a new computer for the car. Update: my car is back in a shop where it is taking forever to find the mess that Joe made to my car. Really sad to be taken advantage of this bad. His day will come when he is in our shoes because of paying and waiting from a business. This should not be aloud.

First let me say that I didn’t want to react immediately after I left Joe’s shop . I wanted to wait a few days to reflect on what honestly occurred. The positive: Joe and his crew rebuilt the front end of my 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and properly aligned my tires . This was a big job and they did a terrific job for which I am grateful . To back up a bit , My car had stalled out heading to Joe’s shop for the scheduled appointment so I had it towed and Joe said he’d get it started first . He called and explained that they replaced the distributor cap and coil to get it started . Then he gave me the bad news about the front end needing a rebuild which didn’t surprise me . As mentioned above it was an A+ job well done! He also located a AC leak which I brought to his attention and that was fixed perfectly as well. When Joe called he explained all the work was done and that he test drove the car and it ran very well. Upon picking up the car Joe was very pleasant. We had a nice conversation and I told him I was glad to find a garage like his that serviced old cars. He also said everything is under warranty and to let him know if there are any problems. We parted on friendly terms. I proceeded to drive home and long story short the car was not driving very smoothly. It felt as if it was going to stall out at a stop light and then upon the light turning green and me giving it some gas there was a hesitation which also felt like the car would stall. I immediately turned around after getting some gas and calmly approach Joe about the problem and he was visibly upset. Stormed out of the shop with me and took a test drive. Joe angrily and disrespectfully drove the car at high rates of speed . He declared there’s nothing wrong with the car when in fact there was. We drove back to the shop and he explained “ if you want to leave it I’ll take a look at it tomorrow. I haven’t got time now “. I could tell he was pissed, and I even brought that to his attention in which he denied it. But I think after spending over $4000 and me being a new customer to boot that he could’ve been more caring about me stalling out on the way home and took a look at it no matter how busy he was. I wouldn’t have minded waiting for the car just for peace of mind driving the car home . I did make it home safely with one stall out at a stop light .It’s too bad that this ruined my experience at Pops garage and left me feeling unappreciated as a new customer.

Will never go here again - worst experience ever. Joe needs to let someone else take over business or close it. He wont have any customers the way he treats them. Work took too long, poor followup by him, very rude, yelled at me, and is disrespectful to females. Car issue not even fixed properly. Got my car and was dirty too with used tissues in it and grease. Car scratched as well. Nightmare to deal with.

THANK YOU JOE. New to town and needed an oil change for my mother-in-law. Yes, my mother-in-law. Joe said I could come right in. He is only a mile and a half away from our new home in Parkland. Joe personally greeted me in the lobby. Super friendly guy. In and out in about an hour. I was thoroughly impressed with his shops process. I saw new and old cars alike. I was thrilled to find Pops Garage years ago when I moved into town, and since then it has been the only place I take my vehicles for service, repairs, and general maintenance. Every time I’m there, there are muscle cars and hot rods being worked on, and indeed I’ve brought in my Trans Am and Grand National for work. But they work on all cars as well, and they also work on my newer VW Atlas SUV and my vintage VW Bug. Every job has been done flawlessly and at completely fair rates. After just one conversation with the owner, Joe, you can tell he’s a genuinely good person you can trust. I won’t take my cars anywhere else. If you’re looking for a shop that can handle any level of work, just call Pops!
