Tried to get a quick trailer hitch install and a week before they said it wouldn't be more than $200, but I dropped the vehicle off at 8 a.m. and pick it up after 2:30p.m. and the price in more like $250. They are not honest.

My whole family goes to S L and sons because they have quality work and they know what they are doing. I took my vehicle there to have the steering wheel, engine and transmission replaced along with other things. We agreed on the price of $4,000 for labor. Right before completing my car they asked me for $1600 additional dollars for unexpected labor. I asked them how much it would be to put my car back together so I can drive it home. Because I did not want to pay the additional labor cost. They said $4,600 for labor. I agreed . When I went to pick my car up they told me that I would have to tow the car back because they did not have time to connect the steering wheel. They told me that it was just two wires that needed to be connected. He stated that my car had electrical issues and that he was the only one in the city who can fix it and wish me luck with it. They also stated that they have a tow truck guy that can tow it for me for a reasonable price. I declined the tow and said that I will call a tow company to tow it to my house. When the tow truck came to my house it was the wrong car. When I asked the tow guy why he brought me the wrong car he insisted that this was the car that the mechanic said needed to be gone. When I talked to the mechanic he said it was a honest mistake. I had to pay for the car to go to the correct place and pay another tow for the correct car to come to my house. Which was a total of 3 tows I towed my car to my normal mechanic to finish the job at a fraction of the cost. While he was finishing the job he told me that the steering sensor was put in upside down( causing the steering wheel not to turn). He also noticed that the steering fuse in the fuse box was connected to two positives instead of positive and neg. And the neg and positive wires where cut. He stated that the transmission sensors where missing causing it to not get out of first gear. There was loose bolts and screws that was so loose that I could turn with my bare hands. Also I noticed that my full size spare tire was missing along with a plethora of other little things. I would recommend them If you have an endless amount of money and will agree to everything that they say needs to be fixed on your car. If your the type of person that ask questions and like to know where your money is being spent. I would recommend you try elsewhere.

My husband and I have both had great experiences with SL & Sons Auto Repair. I took my car in because an engine indicator light went on. The owner ran a diagnostic test right away. They are knowledgeable and friendly, and I was happy with the quality and price of the work. On Christmas eve I was preparing to drive across the coast, and an indicator light went on. I drove in and was immediately assisted by the owner. As it turned out, it was a minor problem that required only a quick fix. In addition to that assistance, they also put air in my tires. They did not charge me for the follow-up visit. SL & Sons is an honest and reputable business. I'm so glad to have found them!

I do not normally place reviews on Google, but after my latest experience at this shop I felt obliged to do so. I took my car in knowing I had a coolant leak, and upon arrival I was greeted by a mechanic who was able to diagnose my issues immediately with me beside him watching and explaining the problem. They were extremely professional, quick and knowledgeable. The mechanics may not be the most talkative and outgoing, but that is something that can be ignored if you are simply looking to get your vehicle fixed in the best manner possible. I will definitely be going back to this shop for any other vehicle related matters and highly reccomend anyone in St Pete to do the same.

They are amazing. They took the time to figure out what was wrong with my car , while the previous person who “fixed it” said it was good to go when it clear as day wasn’t. They are also great with diagnosing and fixing foreign cars , mine being a Volkswagen CC. I recommend them to everyone!!! :)

I thought I was having car trouble and also needed my hood release latch replaced. Well they kept it for a couple days to try to figure out the problem I described turns out it was just bad gas. They also fixed the release latch I asked what I owed and they told me nothing cause they could not find anything wrong. I was very thankful for the thoughtfulness of this experience. S L & Sons really came to my rescue! They went above and beyond and got me home yesterday! I dont live in St. Pete and not only did my truck not start but I also locked my keys in it a block away from their shop!! They were able to follow me right back and got my keys and when jumping it found out my alternator was no good. Outstanding customer service, they got a new alternator in my truck in less than 3 hours and had me on my way home, even though they had a shop full of vehicles. While I waited 3 long time customers came in and were treated like family, I can see why they have been going there for so many years! The price was also very reasonable and I am extremely grateful to them!

They quickly diagnosed the issue and got us a new part from their supplier within hours of us bringing it in.
