Called Sam on Monday to repair my 07 Prius which needed a new brake acutuator. Had read on Reddit that he was good with hybrids. When he picked up he offered to repair it for $1000. The other shops I'd called wanted $2-2500 for the job and had a week or more wait. He told me to bring it in on Wednesday and had it fixed that same evening. Could not have asked for better or more generous service. It seems like he's not in it for the money - just to help people get back on the road. He's got a lifelong customer in me.

October 2023 I was surprised to see Sam’s google reviews and thought maybe he incentivized customers to leave a review. I was wrong, Sam never even mentioned it and all the reviews I read were accurate. I was quoted by North Park Toyota over $2,400, but Sam did the same job for 1/3rd of the price. Honest guy and went beyond the scope of work. I picked up my car and the engine bay had been cleaned, a pleasant surprise. Don’t hesitate to visit Sam with your hybrid needs. 2010 Toyota Prius w/ 195k miles ******** Update / 3 Jul 24 My car started having problems a couple days ago, the terrible loud engine shaking. I sent it to Sam and he had it back and running smoothly within 24 hours. I appreciate his honesty, and very fair pricing. I don't think you will find anyone out there with more knowledge about these hybrids. 2010 Toyota Prius w/ 203k miles

Sam did a terrific job on the engine tuneup of my 2010 Toyota Prius - for a fraction of what the dealership was charging! He was very informative and generous. He explained in detail everything he did to the car, which I appreciated. I had a dead battery and he could have sold one to me - but he refused. Since I’m from out of town, he insisted I find a company that offered warranty in my home town. He even gave me a free oil change, an extra filter, and a car charger! I wish I could find a mechanic as kind, helpful, and honest as Sam in my hometown. Highly recommend for hybrid repairs

I have taken my car many times with Sam, and I can’t thank him enough for all that he has done. He genuinely cares about your car and what he does, he will always give you the best advice on what to do with your car and also always recommends where to find the best quality pieces for you car so it lasts long. Sam is the BEST! I am currently a college student and was struggling to find somewhere to fix my car at a reasonable price especially with my car being hybrid. Sam did an amazing job of fixing my car and communicating with me about what is exactly wrong with the car. He was honest, respectful and very professional. Will definitely be going back if my car has any problems :)

The BEST service you can get!! Sam deserves a lot more credit than what can be put into words in a review. He's honest, trustworthy, and experienced!! I found Sam (like some of you may be doing) through his Google reviews. My 2007 Prius red triangle came on suddenly while I was leaving work and within 2 minutes, I was unable to drive my car. After I turned it off and back on, I was able to drive it to North Park Toyota on 410. Long story short, they wanted to charge $1200 to fix an "issue." They also needed to order a part. I looked up local Hybrid shops and found Sam with over 180+ 5 Star reviews. I called Sam, he said he had the part and would charge less than half if that was the issue (even on the phone he knew that "issue" shouldn't be what cause my car to stop driving). I picked up my car from North Park and risked driving it to Sam's. With his expertise, he drove the car, listened to how the car drove all while monitoring the computer and explained possible issues to me while I was in the car with him. He went above and beyond caring and addressing the issue. He was able to solve the issue, advise me on further improving my car, charged me under $500, and till this day (about 5 months later) my car is running without any issues!! I'll continue to go to Sam's until he retires (and cry when he does). So if you want someone worth your time, trust (and money) - Go to Sam's!!

Sam is awesome. I had a Toyota Camry Hybrid 2014 wasn’t started, some mechanics said it’s because of the Key I mad a new key for it and pay $250 but it didn’t start then I towed my car to Sam he checked it, there was some sensor it was locked he bypassed that in 30 minutes and my car was ready for driving. I love his attitude he is humble, honest and professional I will recommend him for all Hybrid owner. Thanks Sam 😊

If Google would have 10 stars or more I would give all to Sam! Its difficult to find a Car Mechanic/Auto Repair Shop with transparency, honest & trustworthy. But Sam-the owner has all of the above & more. It was my first time at his Repair Shop with My Toyota Prius Hybrid having electrical issue with the MDF and Side Power Mirrors. Shopped around via phone calls and every single mechanic was willing to look at the problem with diagnostic fee of $150 or more. When I called Sam he asked me to bring in my Vehicle and he would inspect/diagnose at no charge and quote me(for the repair) after he finds the problem. I put my faith in him and took my vehicle and within minutes he found the issue and resolved it happily. Also note here that he was busy/occupied working on another car engine but he took my car in without any delay or wait time which most shops make you wait. Truly recommend him and if I have any Hybrid Car issues I will take my vehicle to him for fix. Thank you Sam & keep up the good work for the community.

Sam's Auto works on hybrid cars. For 9 years , Sam has been the mechanic for two of my cars. I purchased a rebuilt hybrid prius from him about 7 years ago and it is still running great. Zero issues. Throughout the years he has always given me the lowest estimates and I am more than satisfied with the service and work performed. I plan to buy another car from him for my child. After 9 years, I am 100% confident in my choice to buy it from Sam's Auto, and I don't feel it is necessary to shop around. I highly recommend Sam's Auto UPDATE : previous post was March 2024. Today's post: 5/4/24 engine light came on. Autozone said that it was alternator or hybrid battery. Sam opened the hood and with one look said it was the water pump. It took about 20 minutes to fix and the car is still running great. UPDATE: Today's date: 11/13/25. I have not seen Sam for about 6 months, but there is a nice young man that changes the oil. I have not had any issues with my car.

Have a 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid. It had an accident which messed up the front end. Much damage. Wanted to take it to Sam’s- but he really didn’t have good availability. While talking to Sam about availability, I noted that I was close to another shop I that I had used in the past. Sam suggested using them- but also said to call him back if the cost of repair was too high. The other shop said repairs would cost $3,500- too much for me. To make a long story short- Called Sam back- and he was able to fix the car for $810. Explained that the other garage likely was replacing items that did not need replacing. At much higher cost, I thought. The kicker- a tire had been deflated during the accident. Sam had initially thought that the tire needed to be replaced. However, he ascertained that it was the wheel rim that needed to be replaced. First he suggested getting a rim online. But , when I reported prices- he remembered another alternative- in house.. He said the part was $35. I said please throw it on. He did. And, heres the kicker- he had already closed my ticket. He fold me not to worry about the charge. He already closed the tab! I looked at other Google reviews- Sam makes a habit of doing things like that. Amazing- isn’t it! A car repair shop who makes you feel guilty about potentially abusing them. Wow! Perhaps the world can now end. Thanks Sam! Because of you- I will be keeping this car a bit more.

I don't normally leave reviews but I felt the need to after Sam drove out to fix my misfiring engine several months after he had repaired it the first time. He wanted to save me the cost of a tow truck and I am very appreciative of his customer service. Sam has earned a loyal customer in me and I'm sure he will if you take your car there for all your hybrid needs.

I can't recommend this mechanic enough! I brought my car in after getting a diagnose from another shop that would have cost me thousands in unnecessary repairs. This mechanic quickly and accurately diagnosed the actual problem, saving me a huge amount of money and stress. Beyond their expertise, they were incredibly helpful and warm welcoming, making the whole experience a breeze. It's rare to find such honest and skilled professionals. If you have a hybrid vehicle, you NEED to know about Sam's. I have an old Prius Hybrid that we adore because it's so reliable and still gets fantastic gas mileage. Sadly our regular mechanic moved away from San Antonio so when I had an issue with my car, I took it to someone new who is not a hybrid expert. It cost me an engine. I found Sam thru Google reviews and called immediately for an appointment. Sam couldn't see us right away but I did get an appt a week later. He went over the car carefully and found that my engine was now shot because the previous mechanic was not well versed on hybrids. Sam was able to get me a barely used engine and install it for far less than the cost of a new used car. He also repaired a ton of little things on the car so that it honestly feels and drives like a brand new car. Plus he explains all of the issues and shows you everything he does on your vehicle. He's honest, fair and he doesn't jack up the price of the work midway through. Sam only works on hybrid vehicles so you can't take other cars to him but if you have a hybrid, he's a man you want to know. He also doesn't take credit cards but he makes that clear immediately. I recommend him without hesitation.

I got my wheel bearings redone here last year and Sam went above and beyond. I felt he was very honest and reasonably priced, and he fixed several smaller problems on my car for free without being asked to. Definitely the best experience I've had with a mechanic so far.
