My truck had a loss of power when stopped. I took it to my regular mechanic which determined the issue to be within the timing system, and outside of their scope of work. They recommended me to bring my vehicle here. This shop has a terrible lack of communication. Both I and my regular mechanic called before having the vehicle towed to Shannon's to be sure it was something they could accurately diagnose. The vehicle sat for an entire day and the shop closed early on Friday and neglected to inform me that they hadn't gotten to it. I understand them not getting to it, but they could've called and told me after promising an update that day. Monday morning rolls around and they call me and say they think it jumped timing (we already knew that) ask if they can pull the spark plugs and perform a compression test for a total of $200. Sure, go ahead. Again, I'm promised an update. I call back around 3 after not hearing anything. They've tested cylinder 1 and 2, finding zero compression on cylinder 2. I ask if they found exactly what was causing it. They say they've still got some more testing to complete and will update me. In the meantime, I request a quote for both a used and a remanufactured engine replacement. Sara says she will call in the morning with the quotes. Tuesday morning they tell me they can't find any engines less than 150k miles (same here, that's fine) and proceed to quote me $11,000 for a remanufactured swap, $5950 for parts and $3500 for labor. Even with tax, that doesn't add up, and I can source a remanufactured engine for the vehicle for $3500. Even Ford parts has one cheaper than $5950. If you're a woman, or if they think you're not mechanically inclined (I work in a diesel shop, btw) they will try to take advantage of you. I ask Sara if they ever found out the root cause and everything wrong with the vehicle. She says it isn't listed on the paperwork and willl call me back after speaking to the technician. Crickets...I call Wednesday afternoon. She forgot to call. Again. She then tells me there bent valves on cylinder 2. I ask about the results of the compression test on the other cylinders and whether or not they have bent valves. She informs me that after finding zero compression on cylinder 2, they found no reason to continue. I ask what if i wanted the other cylinders tested she says that will cost more money and take more time. I don't understand why I was quoted for a compression test on all cylinders and the work wasn't performed. Say I wanted this engine rebuilt rather than replaced? I brought the vehicle in for a diagnosis which wasn't satisfactorily completed. Sara then tried to charge me for the tow...which i had already paid the driver directly for. This shop is as lazy and as crooked as they come. Minimal detail given, poor communication, ridiculous prices. I'll eat an entire jean jacket and do the swap myself before I pay these people to even do an oil change on a vehicle of mine. Stay far away.

Excellent service. I had a check engine light on that was determined to be caused by an after market fuel cap. The next day a cracked vacuum hose was found. I called Shannon's and told them. Mike, the owner told me a smoke test had been done and it did not show up. I expected him to say I'm sorry but it must have cracked after you left but instead I was asked to come in at my convenience and they would replace the hose for free. I said I would at least pay for the part and he refused. Customer for life !

We were traveling through Wilmington from out of town and had a problem with our car. Owner Mike Shannon took us in immediately, looked at the car right away and repaired it in less than hour... and had us back on the road and back to our vacation. Excellent, friendly, professional service. Couldn't ask for more. Wish he was in my hometown!

On October 12, 2021 I made an appointment to have my oil changed on October 20 of 2021 which was exactly one week later. I spoke with Mike, the owner. I made the appointment for early in the day, for 8 AM. And I made that appointment solely because I was told by Mike, on the phone that it would take less than an hour and that I’d be able to make it to work on time. So I get there today, 7:50 AM, the owner, Mike, walks outside, I explain to him that I made an appointment to have my oil changed at 8 AM. He asked me if I would be waiting. I told him I would be and that I was told on the phone it would take less than an hour and that I had to be at work by a certain time, which is why I made the appointment in the first place. Mike then proceeded to go on a rant about Covid and a different world and that he only makes $10 doing an oil change. He was BEYOND rude and said there was no way that was happening, that they’ve had two cars on the lifts waiting to be worked on for the past two weeks. I asked him why they had made the appointment in the first place if that was the case and why he’d told me that they’d have me out of here within an hour. And he went on to explain to me that they lied to me because they are a business and they’re trying to make money, that’s a direct quote!! I want to let everyone on here know and I will let everybody I see, when the subject comes up, to avoid this place like the plague. What an unprofessional, time wasting lot that business is.

I know when my truck leaves Shannon Auto it is repaired right the first time. I took my work truck to him for a strange noise he properly diagnosed the problem and had me back to work in a few hours. I trust Mike and the whole crew. This place is the best auto repair shop in Wilmington. I will not go anywhere else for all my vehicles.

My experiences with Shannon’s have left me very unhappy. On the first occasion I felt that Mike cared about how things turned out with my vehicle even though he needed to keep it longer due to some problems he encountered. When I finally got it back from his shop I had to take it back due to a new noise it was making that he claimed he couldn’t find. Believing that things hadn’t gone that bad I sent my vehicle to him again for a more extensive repair. It sat there for more than a week before he even looked at it claiming that he was the only person on staff qualified to do so. When I initially spoke with them about taking my vehicle there such a delay was not explained. It took another week before he got around to working on it because he took vacation time and just left my vehicle sitting there. When I finally got my vehicle back there were parts broken that hadn’t been when I took it in. One of which I had recently replaced. He assured me he’d fix the one he owned up to breaking, but in the end my vehicle was returned to me with that part still broken. The item they ordered that took several weeks to come in wasn’t even the part he broke, but a cheap attempt to stick the broken item back together. The other part he broke he claimed to have no knowledge of it’s location on the vehicle. For the amount that I was billed for this venture I feel like I was taken advantage of. I also feel that failure to replace items that he broke was extremely wrong. All in all I would never recommend this business to anyone. The time frame was bogus, the communication was nonexistent, the quality of work preformed was extremely lacking, and in the end I feel cheated. So if you can go somewhere else I highly advise it.

My husband and I have been taking our vehicles to Shannon’s Auto for years and have a great relationship with everyone there. My brother has recently moved to the area and Shannon’s saved his car after the engine exploded. Mike and his team are honest about everything they do and will not take advantage of anyone. If you are looking to support a local family owned business and want reliable trustworthy service this is the place for you!

BEST shop I've ever dealt with! Took care of my 1977 Chevy when no one else in town would even try and then fixed the transmission issue on my Cadillac as well. Mike and his crew are great to work with, honest and professional. All work was done above my expectations, on time and at very reasonable costs!

Great mechanic, honest and fair all around. My car gave this crew a very hard time, and Mike continued to not give up going above and beyond to ensure the car was fixed and I was taken care of. Phone updates were given along the way to let me know how the fix was coming along. This place is an absolute gem and gives peace of mind when something happens to your car!

We've been using Shannon's since we moved to Wilmington and they've always gone above and beyond in terms of service, price, honesty, and thoroughness. It is always easy to bring our vehicles in for repairs and they communicate really well. They always make sure to tell you what needs to be done to fix the issue and where to avoid unnecessary repairs/cost. Prices have always been fair. Highly recommend. Veteran owned business.

I am so grateful Shannon Auto was referred to me. Mike and his team are wonderful and trustworthy. When I first bought my Mustang convertible it had engine issues but, he was the first of several attempted auto shops to identify what was going on with it from there he provided excellent service to the vehicle for 6 years. I highly recommend Shannon Auto. Mike and Sarah always treated me with respect and professionalism.

I'm new to Wilmington and needed a mechanic for one of my cars. Mike took really good care of me and my vehicle making sure that everything was working at a fair price. I now take all of my vehicles there and will continue to do so as long as I'm living in Wilmington.

Our truck broke down on the way from Massachusetts to Florida, but luckily we were only 5 minutes from Shannon's Auto. Mike, Sarah and the crew went above and beyond to help us out, even going to the scrap yard on a Saturday to look for the part we needed. Thanks to them we made it safely to Florida and back. Truck is running great.

I had my jeep towed to this garage on the recommendation os a tow driver. My fuel plump was replaced but another problem came up. My brake house on the passenger side has to be replaced. I had them replace both, but When I checked my fluids, they bad broke the cap to the brake reservoir and over filled the reservoir. The cap was just laying on top. A piece of the clip to the cap was in the fluid. Where are the other pieces to the cap. There was a woman there handling the business as Mike Shannon was out of town. I was told her guy will come to my address with a cap. Waiting for it. This place cannot be trusted. They did not even check behind their own work. I hope my fuel pump is in tact, For me, I will never use this garage again.

Avoid this place if you can. I dropped off my truck Monday morning to have my brakes looked at and was promised an update. After one day of radio silence I called them and got no details, but told them I needed it by Thursday morning. I waited another day and tried calling again before giving up and collecting my truck. Poor communication.
