Dave does not have the best attitude. I would describe it as 'crotchity' or 'surly, I can't speak to his quality of work because he said he was "Too busy right now" even though I said I wasn't in a hurry and he could take weeks if needed. His employees were apologetic, but that was more for Dave's demeanor than anything else.

I went to this store to research sound bar vs component amp and speakers. After only a few words with the owner, he interrupted me to say I was making a big mistake even thinking of a sound bar and they junk. Immediately ridiculing me for even thinking of a sound bar. I did a lot of research and know if you have limited space, some sound bars may be appropriate. After feeling ridiculed, I politely said thank you and walked out of the store. As I walked out, the owner proceeded to mock me, practically yelling at me says I was making a big mistake. I was getting into my car in the parking lot and he was still yelling at me. The biggest mistake I made was walking into this store expecting Professional Service.

I really wish I had read the other three reviews before I walked into this place. He was extremely rude to me despite the fact that he sold me a piece of equipment that didn't work and said he fixed it but it still didn't work. He acted like I was out of line because I wanted a refund on the product. He told me to go to hell when I explained to him that it was purchased for our school by fundraising funds and the kids weren't getting to use it because it didn't work. I was literally shocked by how bad the customer service in this place was. I can't believe they are still in business.

I've been shopping at Sounds by Dave for almost 30 years. Whenever I'm looking for a new piece of equipment (or a good used piece), I give them first shot at the sale. The salespeople are very knowledgeable, and if they don't know something they admit to it and try to find the answer. Have never felt pressure to buy. They've always given me a good price, but I'm also willing to spend a little more than I might via the web in order to support a local store and specialist. I admit that Dave himself can be an acquired taste, but if you don't try to b.s. him, he'll do what it takes to help a customer. He know a lot about A/V equipment and the industry.

I love this place, I'm not sure what the other people who reviewed them are talking about. Every time I go in Brian helps me out right away. He knows the answer to every question I have. He has helped me out on many occasions for free, like setting the clock and pairing my Bluetooth devices to my new stereo. I recently had a problem with a pioneer stereo they installed so Brian had his guy remove the old deck and send it back to pioneer to have then repair it for free. Great place if you want to shop local and support chico.

These guys here are great. Brian in particular has been very helpful and has always given me fair prices since I had the first system installed in my truck. Its been three years since they put a full system in my truck and I have never had one issue, or blown speaker or anything. Highly recommend these guys. They recently put a complete system in my bmw and it sounds amazing. I had an issue with the car itself not going into sleep mode and they diagnosed the issue for me and fixed it for free, even though it wasn't really their problem to fix. I'm sure the diagnosis from the bmw shop would've cost me a good amount so that was real nice of them.

I had recently just gotten a used car and it came with a sub in the back already hooked up. The sub didn’t work and I do not know the first thing when it comes to subs, amps, etc. Brian and staff were extremely helpful by getting me in their schedule and diagnosing and fixing the problem. Once everything was fixed Brian took the time to show me the correct settings on my radio to get the best sound. Over all great experience!

I have bought a lot of stuff from this location over the last eight years and have always felt very satisfied with the service they've given me. Their product knowledge of what items fit together to give you the best sound for the money spent. They're willing to compete with the big name stores and have always given me great customer service. A friend of mine got his girlfriend's car stereo there and they installed it the same day. They also enjoyed doing business with them.

Called them for help with a self install they welcomed me by phone when I showed up they grabbed a bolt meter looked at what I had and helped me straighten out my issue in minutes. Walked away before I got his name but told me I didn’t owe him a penny. Lots of inventory also and has competitive prices. Worth any difference in price for the customer service!

We started doing business with Dave either in 74 or 75 right after he installed the sound system at the Graduate Bought a lot of new sound equipment including car stereos and had them installed also repair work and was always completeley satisfied We lived in Biggs We moved to South Carolina in 2015 but I would highly recommend Sounds by Dave to anyone

Had a problem with running two 8-ohm JBL MR925 PA speakers on my Carver HR-895 receiver. Couldn't understand why it wasn't fully working and would completely shutdown on me. Took it in and found that my receiver was blown junk basically and couldn't run my speakers anyway well. Hooked me up with a SAMSON Studio Amplifier 275 Watt Stereo: Servo - 550. (Power Amp) [$250] Along with a Bluetooth Receiver Converter [$60] so I could Bluetooth my phone, cords I needed, etc. $351.81 all n all. Just hooked it up, runs great no loss of power. Only things the speakers have a slight humming buzz noise at lower volumes when powered but sound great loud, assuming the buzz is I need a better Aux cord mine's from Amazon lol. One speaker plays main audio, the other plays slight audio but mainly does the Bass notes. Idk if that's just combining channels issue or what, idk sound systems too much. Fixed my main issue tho, I can finally listen to my music! Has massive heatsink on the back, will see how long in can run without getting too hot. Dave knew what he was looking for very fast, assuming was Dave, didn't have to wait long at all! Was out in like 10 minutes or so. Has all the cords n such you need. Lots of inventory probably anything you looking for they've got from power amps, preamps, converters, cords, speakers, subs, record players, seems like used things, but all good quality like-new. DOES REPAIRS TOO!

Dave was fantastic to work with! He is so knowledgable. I was worried about shipping, but He packed the turntable well and it was packed like a tank, ready to ship out. No damage could have been done with that job. It is a one of a kind shop!
