Reliable, great prices. I've used Ray and his guys for years and never had to return a vehicle for additional repair of the same issue. You can trust Ray!

I tried these guys out because of the great reviews on here. I called them and they quoted me a price and told me to bring my car by, when I got there the guy said he had "never worked on a Chevy Cruze like mine before" (just a factory 2012 Chevy Cruze mind you) and they couldn't replace the part because they needed more time and asked me to come back Saturday morning, when they open at 8. He also told me that the price would no longer be the $90 that he quoted and that it would now be $200, I said no problem, I'll see you Saturday morning at 8am. When I get there this morning the guy didn't even remember who I was and told me that he wouldn't be able to work on my car today and that it would be better to have me come in on a week day. When I asked why he told me to come back today and that he could have it done by lunch and now that wasn't the case, he walked away from me. This is one of the worst experiences I've had with a mechanic if you can call him that. I had to tell him where the part he was replacing was located. Although this was an awful experience, I feel like I dodged a bullet. I really thought by the positive reviews on here that this would be a good choice. I was wrong

Customer for 1 year as of January 2020. Ray is so personable and willing to listen to any concerns I have regarding my (now 21-year-old) car. He and his mechanic team have consistently gone above and beyond to help repair and maintain my vehicle that I use to commute to and from work 7 days a week, and their ability to diagnose and resolve problems is second to none in Kingsport and the surrounding areas. I have referred many friends and acquaintances to this business for good reason, and I will continue to do so. This garage has done extensive work for me from rebuilding my A/C to replacing my water pump, serpentine belt, and pulleys, to repairing my cooling system, including replacing the manifold intake gasket after another garage failed to identify the leak. I hope to remain a customer for years to come.

Husband went to have new breaks and rotors put on, when he picked his truck up a week later we were riding down the road and heard a new and weird noise, pull over to find out one of the tires had ONE lug nut holding the whole tire on!! We literally could have been killed. Owner is cool, but obviously the people working on the cars are not thoroughly trained. Owner did apologize for the trouble and reimbursed part of the money. Very professional on owners part but I hope from now on the young mechanics will be more aware. Breaks and rotors were done very well everything aside!

Took my truck to have brake pads and rotors put on, he told me $70 . When I went to pick it up he said it would be $170 and he broke my abs sensor, then a week later going down the road, 6 of 8 lug nuts came off and the other 2 were very loose!!! Now I have a squeaking noise coming from front wheel!!! Worst experience ever, will never go back to superior auto and wouldn't recommend anyone else to go there either !!!! The owner, Ray, is very nice and used to be very good, but his employees are obviously not real mechanics to make mistakes like these!!!

Don't waste your hard earned money here. I gave them 3,200.00 to rebuild my Subaru, plus gave money for parts.., like extraction bits that i never got. That was 82.00. To top it off my car lasted 6 months and tore up the same place they fixed and they wouldnt back their word.

Highly Recommend! Can’t say enough good things about Ray and his crew! Like any older vehicle, they tend to have a mind of their own and give us the misfortune of breaking down. Fortunately for me, my beast broke down outside the A-Z store. I thought it was the battery or alternator and asked the store owner for a jump. She advised their was an auto shop out back and that they might help me. I ran around the building to find someone and ran into David, one of the staff. He tried to assist me but their jump box was not doing the trick. He tested the battery and alternator to find no issue but the vehicle still wouldn’t turn over. He went and grabbed his boss, Ray the owner, and came right back with every mechanic on duty. Ray cranked the vehicle and within two cranks he stated my fuel pump had gone out, as well as his mechanic confirming there was no pressure coming from the fuel line. He offered to fix the pump but would have to send it to his son’s shop over in Gate City, V.A. because he had a lift open right then. I needed a day to review all my options before forking out $500-$700 for the “quickest” fix. The A-Z owner was gracious enough to allow me to leave my vehicle overnight, which I did. I ran the numbers and ended up ordering the parts needed. I called Ray and asked if he would still do the installation, when the parts arrived. He obliged and told me he would move the car to the back parking lot until I brought the parts by but that they wouldn’t warranty the part, only paying for labor doing it this way. I was ecstatic because not only did that save me a tow bill but it saved me all the headache that comes with breaking down! I will say the only thing I didn’t care for was, Ray had my vehicle towed to his son’s garage without my knowledge, but when he found out I wasn’t happy, he did his best to reassure me that his son was just as good if not better. I got the parts to him by close of business Monday and was driving away by Wednesday’s lunchtime!

Had an awesome experience here. Called in with a engine cooling system issue, but wasn't sure exactly what it was. Not only were the guys able to get me in the same day, they diagnosed the issue, ordered a new radiator, and installed it same day, for an incredible price. I knew that the radiator had a small leak from a different shop, and the previous place that I had brought it to quoted a replacement price 3 times higher. Ray even stayed open late to let me pick my car up that night. I highly recommend them and will absolutely use them for all future issues.

Very friendly, good service and work, and most importantly, honest. My power steering was out. My car had electric power steering so they thought it was the power steering motor. That requires ripping the dash out. He scanned it and found out it was only a fuse. He could have easily told me it was the motor. Instead he was honest and fixed it for the cost of the fuse. $25. I had other work done that has made my car run great. I would definitely recommend Ray and his team.

I had an excellent experience with Superior Auto, even though I didn't actually get any service done by them. I was dealing with a frustrating car overheating issue, and everywhere else I called demanded a diagnostic fee upfront before providing any information. However, my experience with Superior Auto was refreshingly different. When I called, she only mentioned the fee after I inquired about it, which was a pleasant surprise. She was sweet and upfront but also went above and beyond to help me. She asked me detailed questions about my car and the issue I was facing. She patiently explained the potential problems and the associated diagnostic fees, taking the time to outline the steps they would take. When I mentioned the possibility of needing an appointment in the near future, she made every effort to accommodate me as quickly as possible to address the problem and was willing to get me in the next day despite them being booked up. What truly stood out was when I called back to inform her that I might have found a solution myself. Instead of pressuring me to come in and spend money like other places would have, she was genuinely happy for me and even recommended ways to self-diagnose and resolve the issue. I couldn't help but thank her for her kindness, but she insisted that it was no trouble at all and urged me to reach out if I ever needed further assistance. Superior Auto's exceptional customer service and willingness to go the extra mile left a lasting impression on me. They truly embody what it means to prioritize customer satisfaction. I highly recommend Superior Auto for their professionalism and customer-centric approach. I genuinely did not think people like them still existed and I just wanted to show my gratitude.

Ray was fantastic! I had a fuel pump and O2 sensor that needed to be replaced, he got me in and got me out the same day. He also didn't charge me a fortune to do the work. I'm new to the area so I was reading reviews when looking for a mechanic, all their reviews were wonderful... well now I see why! I have found my new mechanic. Absolutely wonderful people, if your looking for a honest mechanic with great prices go talk to Ray he is the best!

I have spoken highly of this shop, and recommended everyone I know to get work done here. My nana(70 years old) dropped her Kia off to change her window motor or fix it. We came to pick the car up, they changed the master motor on the driver door but left the back window motor broken. Which is what we asked to be fixed. 288 bucks, whatever. Then Ray says there is an issue with the door mechanism, a missing plastic piece, and now you have to fanagle it to get the door to shut. We have NEVER had issues closing this door. Then tells us we have to pay to fix it, when it was broken in his care. When he was working on the door. Instead of being an upstanding person I THOUGHT he was….he tells my 70 year old nana that he’ll fix it, but she can find a new mechanic. I’ve never had issues with this place until now. He is NOT a respectful man, the way he spoke to my nana, and then to screw someone over a blind 70 year old woman on a fixed income? Find somewhere else. He didn’t fix the problem, a new problem arrived, and he was nasty to an elderly person.

Years ago we had the window in our car just drop- like it went off track but didn't break the window... cost us somewhere between 200 or 300 for a new motor for the window.. looking back i think it just fell off track and he may have acted like it was the motor (even though ive always been able to hear the motor moving when i push the button) and let's just say within about 4 months of driving-- my "fixed" window once again "dropped" or aka fell of track like before it was fixed and is now still to this day being held up by a piece of wood lodged in and tape wrapped around the wood to hold the window up. Why?? because the thought of spending hundreds AGAIN because thats what he said.. is not worth it to us, we dont have money like that to fix things over and over as long as the vehicle runs. I only leave this review now years later because I saw someone else on Facebook just complain about the SAME issue not getting fixed properly. ALSO after the window was fixed we had a "new issue start that of course he said he could fix for money! Our vent for the heat/air to come out WAS BROKEN(he stated that the plastic can break easily when dried out, I thing he accidentally hit the dashboard when working on our window and broke the vents exterior plastic and the broken piece fell into the dash and starting making this "spinning/clicking broke plastic" sound... anyways he said it would be a cheap easy fix, so we had him fix it... mind you it only made the noise when first started for a few minutes or when we changed the air from hot to cold and stuff. Not a huge deal but after he fixed it (Yes we had to wait for a part to come in to replace a broken plastic piece) it stopped making the sound YAY, for a good couple weeks. Then it started again and still does the same sound for a few minutes when we start the car-- to this day. It's an older vehicle 2004, but in great shape before the window and vent.. The only things wrong with the vehicle is the window we cant use, and the sound from the vent up front. Not worth paying to get it fixed AGAIN!! We have a garage thank God, but the window does suck when it comes to driving in the rain, and cold because its cracked open a tiny bit.. but the most annoying part was that the window prevented me from continuing to doordash since I had to always open my door, where i can not roll up and down my driver window. Anyways My point is- if you want something fixed quickly for a cheaper price by ray-- sure. If you want for it to actually be fixed correctly and ethically (aka the new parts you bought) go somewhere else. That is just my personal opinion, from our experience using this man. My husband loves him-- but i am starting to look back and just be upset at the whole situation and what a scam that was... at least that's what I feel like happened. A scam. I told my husband about a year ago to stop even getting the oil changed by him, because he didn't even top off basic fluids like he says he will!! They even forgot to FULLY tighten the cap for where you add oil once so it got oil on the engine once, not a lot but it should have been properly tightened/closed.... I dont like this place, I think ray was friendly and made us feel comfortable about the prices and quick work- but in the end I believe he "Jerry rigged" things, or used USED parts that failed quickly because if that's not the case then its just HIS WORK is bad...but to me- either way it is NOT WORTH IT! Just pay a little more and have it done properly by someone who will hold up to there work, and not talk about another payment for something that should have been done the correct way in the first place. I am a girl and I do not know Anything about cars so I hope that I explained it all properly to at least make sense. Lol .... Anyways, good luck everyone. ❤️
