They worked on my 2015 Corolla. Provided multiple quotes for me very fast and completely free. Was expecting a tie rod issue and they were honest and upfront about it only being a VERY minor tire rounding issue. New tires over the weekend and a really solid alignment adjustment. BILL!!! This man is awesome!!! My husband had just gotten out of the hospital and his truck broke down two hours from home. I called Thomson’s on a whim and how fortunate I was to get a great place and a great person too! Bill went above and beyond to get our truck up and running the same day he received it at their garage!!! Fantastic place to go with reasonable pricing too. I've been using them a couple of times now and they do some great work there. I had a substantial amount of work needed on my town and country and they offered some fair pricing. They also were very friendly over the phone and explained everything that needed to be done and how much it would cost. Its hard finding a place to go and not feel rip off afterwards. I'm lucky I found this place. Update: I recently went to the place and didn’t see the mechanic I normally talked to before COVID. It looks like they merged stores together and the prices changed by a lot. What normally would have been a quick brakes and pad job turned out to cost me well over 1,200. To top it off I asked if they could look at it and let me know how much which in the past would have been free they charged me for and took about a week to even get in their calendar. I ended up going somewhere else where I only paid 300 for the job and the customer service was better. I honestly felt weird going in like I was bothering them. Not the same place so I lowered the rating and can’t recommend anyone

I highly recommend Thompson's for your auto service needs. They had a solid reputation at the old location in Kentwood, hence my contact. Spoke with Shawn who was not only helpful and honest, he also listened and shared directives. Being a gearhead a couple decades ago, I assure you it wasn't a sales pitch. The transmission flush was completed as they said it would be, to include the BG program. The service was timely, car was clean (no mechanic grease or that non-sense) and priced at the quoted amount. Yes, an auto repair / maintenance business that doesn't try to upsell or cause doubt for additional sales. Honest business, fantastic service and I am very pleased to have chosen Thompson's. The integrity of the business has earned my 5 star rating, will be both the facility of choice for the future, as well as my recommendation for automotive service.

Prices are very reasonable. Staff had good communication and phones were answered right away. Service was much faster than I expected. I needed an oil change and a repair to my exhaust. I called in and was told they were booked pretty solid, but they could try to work it into the schedule if I could drop it off. I was told it could be up to $250 for the exhaust repair, depending on how many pipes needed to be replace, which is right in line with other estimates. Got a call that day with a more accurate cost and had my car back to me with in 24 hours. Paid $170 total for the oil change and exhaust repair. Only caveat I noticed is that their lot is kind of small, so there is a sign on the door about an additional charge for leaving you car for more than a couple of days after it has been repaired. They seem like a pretty reasonable shop, so I would just make sure you let them know before hand if you can't pick your vehicle up right away. I look forward to bring my vehicle back here in the future. Thanks for making my car run quietly again!

I had my car towed to them and asked them to diagnose what was wrong with the engine. They called me and told me I owed them $124 in labor so far and asked me if I wanted to proceed. They didn’t diagnose anything at all. All they did was tell me what I had already told them. And the guy that I spoke with was extremely rude. I would not recommend using them.

Appointment setup verbally with Shawn two days ago for 9/15/23 @10am for Front Struts, Springs, And alignment for $525. They've worked on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer LT 4.2, 4x4 with a lift kit before. Once they had it in the air and apart Bob walked outside to inform me the cost is $448 MORE! Needless to say I made them put it back together and left. I've contacted the State now. I'm angry and feel they're trying to take advantage of me! I FOUND Proline on S. Division is doing it for $590. I wouldn't go to Thompson's again after this! SHAME on them! I tried to get them to lower some, even though their mistake and Bob wouldn't give! NEVER again.... HORRIBLE! They don't seem to Care about their Customers enough! Beware

You know how you are always looking for your "car guy"? When your friend says they're having a car problem and have been disappointed in other places, and you say ,"I got a guy"? Thompson's is that guy. Great service, great people who live in the neighborhood and care about their customers. I've had them taking care of my last 4 vehicles, I don't bother looking anywhere else, nor do I bother pricing out the work, as every time they come in with the best price...but more importantly, I never have to worry about the job being done right!

I'm beyond satisfied with my experience here! I originally called to ask how much it would cost to get my transmission diagnosed to see where it was possibly leaking from after I had got my oil changed at a drive in shop and they said they thought I had a transmission leak. They gentlemen over the phone said that if they're able to look and see where it's coming from without having to test drive it, degrease it and etc, it would be 62$. But if they did have to do all the extra work, it would probably be around 160$. I was hesitant because that's a very big price difference but he reassured me that if they did have to do the more expensive option, they'd call me and give me the option. So I scheduled to have it brought in the next day. The diagnosis only took a half hour or so, and they told me I didn't have a transmission leak. Instead they had found 3 different leaks including my oil and coolant which was dripping into my transmission which is why the other shop thought my transmission fluid was leaking. They even showed me a photo to help get an idea of what was going on. I was grateful that they not only ruled out a transmission leak, but also looked to see what was leaking, for no extra charge. Only 62$.The gentleman in the shop and office were very kind and really took their time to explain what was going on with my car and answering all of my million questions I had. I really appreciate the fact that they were more than honest and fair with me with pricing and what was going on with my vehicle. Unfortunately, being a young woman I've had shops try to pull a fast one on me or treat me like I'm stupid. None of that here though! They took their time to explain each of the leaks and which order of importance they suggest. Their prices are reasonable, and I just got my coolant leak fixed here with them today. I dropped it off at 9am and was surprised to get a call at 1130 saying it was done! I definitely will be back for all of my vehicle needs and services. Thank you to the amazing team!

Had a very good experience here today. My car unfortunately had so many issues that made it unsafe to drive so it made more sense to scrap it. The worker at the counter was incredibly kind and honest about my situation and straightforward. It is so nice to be given honesty about a car instead of taken advantage of as that’s very common. As someone who doesn’t know a lot about cars he explained everything well and didn’t make me feel stupid for not knowing which was very awesome. On top of this they went the extra mile to check for any other issues when id only come in to get my brakes checked, had they not done this I wouldn’t have known how unsafe the car was. The inspection fee was very reasonable; If I had gone anywhere else I know I would’ve been way more upset than I was today, I will absolutely be coming here again when I find another car, and will absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is in need of car repair.

We had a complicated and challenging transmission repair that was a frustration for us and the guy's at Thompson's. I couldn't believe how many pieces my van was in. They did a great job and, a few months later, it's still running great. It's a hard decision to make a big ticket repair but they didn't let us down. They'll be our go-to moving forward.
