The people at Torres are the best. Very fair, straightforward, and honest. Dishonest and incompetent. Was recently reminded of this shop and wanted to share the horrible experience I had with them. Had my car for over a week and conned me out of over $1k before recommending me to another shop. Brought my car in for a coolant leak and after I finally got it back it, it was in worse shape than when I originally brought it in. The other shop actually fixed the issue within a day and agreed Torres’ notes were deceitful and that I had likely been taken advantage of. I now gladly drive across town to avoid their dishonest shop and encourage you to do the same. Im sure they’ll respond with their version of this and that’s all well and good cause I won’t read it. They’re condescending and unreliable. Go elsewhere.

We were in such a pinch when our Ford Fiesta wouldn’t start. They had no reason to service our car since we naively pulled the alternator out for testing and didn’t put it back. Perfectly understandable due to their policy. After expressing our situation they agreed to service the car. We bought the part needed prior and Torres auto went to work. They replaced our water pump, timing belt, battery and tensioner. They also put our alternator back in free of charge which they don’t normally do. We cannot express our gratitude enough about how understanding they were to our situation. I believe we have found our new mechanic shop for all our work!

Oh my I have so much I could say about Torres Auto Repair. I was driving a client to the Musc hospital in Charleston and my car completely shut off in the middle of a busy street 2 blocks from the hospital. Fortunately the Charleston police helped us out and drove my Client to the hospital, and the other two police officers got my car started. However what do I do now still can’t drive all the way to Duncan SC, 300 hundred miles away. I started calling dealerships that couldn’t even look at the car till next week. So finally I goggled car repair shops. Lo and behold I see Torres auto repair that was only 15 minutes away in the same direction as the motel we stayed at the night before. So Prayerfully I drove to Torres and as soon as I parked the car it died again. The mechanic immediately can to my rescue and checked my car out. But before I got there I read the reviews about Torres, Great Reviews 48.6 I think. Being that I’m from out of town I was so grateful for the quick response. The mechanic told me to go to the office and speak to Ms Tracey. Oh my goodness, me and Ms Tracey hit it off right away. She have the most beautiful spirit, flowers and great mechanics, all together. A part had to be ordered for my car that was locally out of stock. But let me tell you the next day by 11 o’clock we were on our way back to Duncan SC. I give Torres and Ms Tracey the highest honor Thank you for your hospitality and a safe environment. I paid my last money but the service was so great and I found them to be trustworthy I didn’t mine. As a matter of fact I want to take my car back to them for service. Thank you guys so much.

If there were 10 stars I would give that!!! My car started acting up this last weekend. The shop was closed already but there was a number on the machine to text so I did. I did not expect an answer until Monday but Tracy texted Friday night and let us drop the car off Saturday. After they fixed it the first time it started acting odd right away. A new problem came up. They spent the entire day digging and long story short found out I needed a new engine. Tracy did research to find out that my car/engine had an extended warranty from Ford to cover the issue with my car and the engine replacement. She went as far as to find all the documents, email and text them to me and allowed me to pick up the car on Friday when they are closed to be able to get it to Ford. They are HONEST and wonderful people and I am a life long customer.

Horrible experience overall. Cannot recommend. Your reply is so unprofessional and funny. Because you never mentioned anything to me about what was actually wrong with the car in person. Instead you crossed boundaries and a professional line by telling me I should sell my car. Which is none of your business. I came to you wanting to know can you fix my car!! Not judgement on how old my car is!!! That’s not your concern!! I had money to get my car fixed and Either you can fix it or you cant. Which I believe you CANT. WHICH ILL NEVER KNOW BECAUSE THE ACTUAL MAN THAT WAS GOING TO FIX MY CAR NEVER GOT TO SPEAK TO ME! And yes i stand by my statement that you having a 10 minute phone conversation with a customer in your face is very unprofessional!!!!!! Do better!!!! LIKE I SAID, DO NOT RECOMMEND. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. And lastly, my car does NOT have over 250k miles on it!! Not even close!!!!! This is what i mean. Ridiculous.

Thank you for the free diagnostic... BUT... I brought my car in based on another client's recommendation and asked for an oil change and an inspection. Based on the inspection, they provided me with a long list of needed repairs that appeared to come out of nowhere. I had previously received an inspection not even a year earlier, and the car was perfectly fine, aside from normal wear and tear for an older vehicle and its exposure to harsh snow and salt/dirt roads. I called this shop for them to perform the same oil change and look over the vehicle, and they quoted me an unrealistic amount for the repairs, saying my car wouldn't make it to its destination. I have read previous negative reviews, and they mostly respond with, "We stand by our diagnostic." I took it to another shop that was highly recommended on Google because I have worked in the automotive industry for over 10 years and know better than to rely on just one opinion, especially given how my car drives. I'm glad I did. The diagnostic they provided wasn't accurate, and the repairs were not actually needed. I ended up paying for an oil change and the same diagnostic that my shop back home provided just 8 months ago. I just wanted to let everyone know—if you have a gut feeling and there are diagnostics that seem unrealistic, always get a second opinion. I hate leaving bad reviews but this one hurt my heart.

When you see these types of repeated replies from a business anytime someone makes a complaint about their experience, such as this, it tells you all you need to know. Overly defensive and justifications of behavior, state there are larger issues here. If you read through the replies on this business, you will see the pattern. They do not attempt to help the customer, instead the blame is fixed and not the problem. Do what you say! I stopped in Tuesday as I need my water pump replaced as I am leaving on trip on Thursday midday. "We can get you in at 8AM Thursday morning, it will take a few hours of labor". When people insist on having their way and they don’t get it they act as if an injustice has been done to them. I am happy to state the facts very simply: -You came in on Tuesday and asked for a price to change your water pump. -I “the woman at the front” asked you if you are positive your issue is the water pump, and you replied You think so -I then informed you that your vehicle is under Manufacture Warranty and that it is improper for us to repair the issue for you considering it will be free at your Dealer. You asked my name, thanked me, and left my office. -Late afternoon you called me and said the Dealer cannot get you in for over a week and asked if you could bring a water pump for us to install and that you don’t care about your warranty. I said ok but I cannot take it until Thursday morning and you will have to drop it off. I told you I am booked between 8-9 am And I clearly told you we need to verify the water pump is in fact even bad beforehand. We are not just part installers. If we see you have a leaking hose do you want us to still install your water pump because that’s what you hired us to do? I Never Guaranteed your vehicle would be ready by 12 Noon. I could not Guarantee a time considering we never checked your vehicle and for all we know the problem may not even be the water pump. I told you drop off Thursday morning after 9 am as I am booked with Appointments until then. You tried to be pushy and force us to do what you want and when you didn’t get your way you want to complain and write a bad review. We thank you for not returning. All the best to you!

I first came across this place after having a horrible experience at the Hyundai dealership across the street. I was visibly upset and just hoping someone could help and the lady at the front desk was so sweet. She got me taken care of that same day! On top of that, the prices were unbeatable. Not long after, I got a Toyota Yaris and have been back twice since. Each time, they’ve been super helpful, friendly, and hardworking. You can tell they really care. This is definitely my new favorite mechanic shop in Charleston. Just a heads-up—if you don’t have an appointment, it’s a good idea to call ahead since they usually stay pretty busy!

Short story, avoid! Torres installed my clutch incorrectly, wouldn't return phone calls, and refused to reimburse me for the replacement parts. In May 2018 I had Torres install a new clutch in my Nissan 370Z. I don't drive the car very much and put 800 miles on it since May 2019, when the clutch started to make whirring and creaking noises. I don't drive the car hard at all and babied it for the first 500 mile break in period. So I took the car back to them and they referred me to a local transmission shop to take the clutch back out and see what the problem was. The attached pictures are of the pressure plate, clutch disk, and flywheel which were all scored on one side because the clutch was rubbing even when the pedal was pushed in. I contacted the owner of the company I bought the clutch from and sent him back the parts because they were still under warranty. He told me the clutch disk was installed backwards by Torres which caused it to rub the pressure plate and flywheel unevenly and heat up to the point that it damaged both. He replaced the clutch disk for free, was able to machine the flywheel for $50, and had me purchase a new pressure plate for $250. After that I contacted Torres to tell them what the owner said, and they told me the clutch disk only goes in one way (not true) and that it was caused by a machining error at the factory. Then they completely dodged my calls and didn't respond to any emails with the attached pictures I have here. The owner of the clutch company only works on 370Z's and only makes parts for this car. He has over 30 years of experience working with them. So do I believe the owner, who answered every email and call within a half hour and was completely helpful through the entire process? Or do I believe Torres who acted completely shady, wouldn't return calls or emails, and refused to pay for just the $300 I asked for to compensate me for the parts and not even the labor? Now I'm stuck with just eating the costs of the initial installation, clutch, new clutch, and new installation. I will absolutely never take my car here again, and make sure no one I know in South Carolina, let alone Charleston, to ever use Torres. Response to Torres: Every time I called it was multiple times and you never once answered an email I sent. So there was no official correspondence between us. I am aware of the start year of my model car. Before that came the 350Z. The owner of the clutch company has been working on the Z line of cars back since they were Datsun. If he didn't stand by his parts he would have made me purchase an entire new kit. Instead he gave me the clutch disk for free and had the flywheel fixed from your damage in one business day. Further, you have no idea how much I spent on that clutch. It was more expensive than an OEM clutch from Nissan. I did my research, nearly every Z owner looking to increase performance for their car uses this company. They also make more than clutch parts which you should have seen if you actually tried to contact the owner like you said. Strange how he answered me immediately for everything but never replied to you. He included pictures he took when he received the parts showing more detailed damage and explaining exactly how it happened as well. Where with you, you're just trying to write it off like a bought a cheap kit from someone's garage. And really? The unbiased opinion from the shop YOU referred me to? After they were aware of everything that happened with the clutch? Of course they're going to back you. If I just wanted money to extort from you I would have demanded that you pay for the initial clutch, your install, the replacement parts, and the reinstall. I never wanted that though. I just wanted the $300 and would move on with it. Clearly you don't stand by your work by your immature post saying I destroyed my clutch, found the cheapest replacement, etc. This is the last you will be hearing from me until a complaint is filed with the BBB.

Very professional !! My home od in Savannah, however, visiting my daughter in Charleston. I damaged my fender, unable to drive home to Savannah. My daughter recommended this place due to the fact she has had a friend that was taken care of in an honest and professional manner. I can only say, I wish I could pack up the Torres and move them to Savannah with me! They were awesome to work with.
