Toy Doctor did a good job replacing the left bellow on the rack and pinion of my Tundra. However, they did try to upsell me a new rack without providing any real proof that the existing one didn’t have more life left in it other than sayin git will only last 2 months after a new bellow is installed. I guess that will remain to be seen. They also tried to upsell me a new drive belt, claiming it had grooves and cracks. The quoted cost was $461. Since I’ve replaced numerous drive belts before, I decided to do it myself. I purchased a Gates belt for $58, and it took me only 20 minutes to install. I’m not sure how they justify charging $461 for this service. After removing the old belt and inspecting it closely, I found no evidence of grooves or cracking. Now I suppose I have a perfectly good backup drive belt for my truck. I’ve always had good experiences with this shop, but the last two times I’ve taken my vehicle in, they’ve attempted to upsell me on services that weren’t necessary.

I had a very negative experience here today. I requested a 40K service for my 4Runner which I expected to include brake, differential, and transmission fluid and oil. I got a call listing all of that - well and good - plus an “air induction cleaning service”. The advisor told me this was recommended in the Toyota service manual, so I approved all the work. Research on my own later in the day indicated this is a typical dealer upsell / add-on service not recommended by Toyota. They spray something into the intake and dump a liquid in the fuel for almost $350. I discussed this with the advisor in person at pick up and told him I did the service with the understanding it was Toyota-recommended. He said he was mistaken and its “dealer” recommended. Ugh. This is exactly the stuff that made me want to switch to an Indy shop. He then showed me two “pistons”, one burned up and black and the other clean and that this indicates what the service does. I said regardless if this is real or not (and it doesn’t look real at all), I did this service under untrue pretenses and am not comfortable paying for it. He then got super upset - with another customer right next to me too! - And started mouthing off like “good luck when your engine blows up” and “I’m done playing games” (ONLY ONE PLAYING GAMES IS YOU!) and starts furiously typing on the keyboard. Guy totally went unhinged for a good 60 seconds. It was my craziest interaction of the year. These guys really showed their true colors - Unbelievably unprofessional. I only give 2 stars because he did refund the service and we ultimately left things cordially on a handshake. Also - Their prices are basically the same as a dealership anyways.

It's a bit silly to say you're better than tire shops ("they're basically hiring teens and we have real mechanics") for the purchase and installation of tires when you fill my tires +10 over the recommended PSI on the placard and there is a variance of 8 across the tires. This can cause uneven tire wear which would eventually impact mechanical aspects of the vehicle. It's so easy to measure and adjust the PSI that this is negligence at best and has me concerned over the attention to detail that would be applied elsewhere when maintaining my vehicle. As someone that spent $2.2k during my visit, I expected a little more.

2019 Siena: We experienced our first case of rodents chewing through the vehicles main wiring harness under the hood resulting in the dash board lighting up like a Christmas tree. We’ve worked with them previous with our Toyotas and they diagnosed this a major repair and to get insurance involved, which we did. They worked with the insurance adjuster and got them to cover a little bit more after the initial assessment and felt good they fought on our behalf for more coverage from the insurance. In the end they notified us all along the way and were very professional and returned our vehicle asap and couldn’t be happier with the results. They even suggested a few tricks to keep the rodents at bay. We highly recommend them and look forward to returning for any other work needed.

I was unable to start my Toyota one day, and I knew it was something more than just a dead battery. I called the Toy Doctor and Charlie told me it would be a week before I could get an appt. He then asked what was going on with it. He told me I could have it towed in and they would try to squeeze it in, if possible. Less than 24 hours later, I had a new alternator installed and it was ready to go! I work 12-hour night shifts, and this was really a life saver! I LOVE Toy Doctor! I brought my Sienna in because I was told I needed a head gasket elsewhere. As it turned out, I did not need a gasket but they noticed that the tires were very worn on the inside and I had no rear brake pads left so, a very dangerous situation. Both of these issues were completely missed at the other shop. I am so grateful for their work! Their service is outstanding, timely and reasonable. I will not go anywhere else!
