I spent a ton of hours looking for the right place to take my jeep to have the trans looked at. I was a VW master tech in my previous life and I am more than willing to perform my own repairs and take my trans apart my self, but I don’t have the time anymore. Dave was super knowledgeable and friendly, as well and all the other employees I met. They notice an issue with my fan clutch that I didn’t even notice that could be causing my issues. I was ready to spend the money and throw a new trans in and he took the time to help me diag it a little further. I will definitely be bringing my vehicles here in the future for repairs.

I opted to get my vehicle serviced by Dave and team at the shop. They provided outstanding work and customer service. They were very friendly, punctual, and responsive. Exactly what you would want to see as a customer. I do not plan on going back to the dealer for work anytime soon!

Great customer service from beginning to end. They were able to troubleshoot my check transmission light on the dash and determine that it was a pressure switch causing the problem and not the transmission. They also found another issue of the right axle seal was leaking. They were able to repair it as well and got my vehicle back up and running. My vehicle year is 2013 so trying to find a good reliable repair shop is not easy especially when it is a transmission problem but they did an awesome job. I highly recommend them for vehicle repair.

These guys were amazing. They are the perfect example of why you should support small local businesses. I have a 2020 Chevy Colorado with 75k miles on it and I started to develop the dreaded Chevy transmission shudder. I called them Monday morning and dropped the truck off Monday afternoon after me and a mechanic went for a quick test drive so they could experience the problem firsthand with me. Dave talked to me and then gave me a quick tour of the shop and it was very well organized and clean. Fast foreword to Wednesday afternoon and they called with an update when they promised they would. After further diagnosing they determined all I needed was a transmission fluid flush and filter change and I would have the truck back by Friday. They underpromised and over delivered and called Thursday saying it was done and ready for pick up. Dave again went out of his way to explain what they did and when the next service interval would be. The truck runs perfect again. One last thing to note they were half as expensive as what the dealer quoted me for the same work. This shop will now be my go to for both mine and my wife’s vehicle maintenance needs. I can’t recommend them enough for all your vehicle needs.

After visiting several unreliable places for a troubling clunk in my car, I finally found this shop. Dave, the owner, gave me his full attention, and their team was both kind and thorough. They not only resolved my car’s issue expertly but went above and beyond to help with my daughter’s convertible top—even outside their specialty. They offered guidance and kindness. I’m truly grateful and will trust them with my vehicles for years to come!

These guys are wonderful! One word every employee at this establishment have in common is “kindness”. They are a team and you can tell they are all genuinely happy to be working here and serving their customers. They helped me with a diagnostic my dealership wanted an arm and a leg for and I couldn’t be more grateful for their support. And thank you, thank you THANK YOU for the tri-city loaner! Appreciate you Dave and all your people! Thank you for keeping Mom and Pop shop culture alive! Our world needs you now more than ever!

I brought my Ford to check out small vibration. Dave at Tri city did a test drive with me, they diagnosed and ended up only changing transmission fluid. Very satisfied. They also discovered and were able to fix coolant leak.

I was in their shop and had spoken with their team about our Honda Odyssey. They were absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to help me ultimately get Honda to cover all the work that was needed on the engine. I had mentioned the issues that I was having with the vehicle and they quickly dove into the information and did lots of research to see what needed to be done. After figuring out what needed to be done they went even further to find out if it was something that Honda would cover. After some researching they provided me with all the documentation I needed to present to Honda. When I presented it to Honda they accepted it without question as I was prepared with all the information/documentation needed. Because of the team at Tri-City, I saved about $9500 on my vehicle, that Honda covered. I can't speak highly enough of the Owner and Team at Tri-City.

This was my first time taking my car to Tri-City Transmission & Auto Repair. I had read about Tri-City Transmission & Auto Repair online. I liked what I read about them. Although they are in Tempe and I live in Scottsdale, there reviews were very positive. I left my car with them for about two weeks. Their approach to diagnosis and repair were excellent. I received updates regularly from my Service provider Joey. His knowledge and communication about resolving my car issues was outstanding. I hope not to need any major repairs in the near future, but if and when I do, have no problem recommending Tri-City Transmission & Auto Repair. Richard Hicks

I’ve used Tri-City Transmission over the years for my transmission needs, and they have consistently proven to be both highly knowledgeable and exceptionally fair in their pricing. Their understanding of the nuances of different transmissions is second to none. I own a 4x4 that I’ve had for 19 years with plenty of miles on it. In recent years, I’ve started towing a camping trailer, which naturally puts added stress on the transmission. Even though I hadn’t experienced any issues, I decided it was probably time to have the transmission serviced. When I brought my vehicle to Tri-City Transmission, they did what they always do — they looked out for my best interest. Rather than simply performing the service, they suggested running a diagnostic first to confirm whether it was actually necessary. After a thorough road test on both surface streets and the freeway, and analysis of my transmission fluid, they called to let me know that the transmission was performing well and did not need servicing at this time. Their expertise is first-rate, but what truly sets them apart is their honesty and integrity — qualities that are increasingly rare today. I trust Tri-City Transmission completely and would recommend them without hesitation.

What a God send the service manager Joey and the staff at Tri-City have been for me. I had the warranty company straight from the pits of hades. The transmission repair that once approved should have taken a couple weeks, however, because of the warranty companythings took longer. Joey was amazing! He dealt with them repeatedly and made sure that everything came together. He kept in consistent contact with me for updates and what the many hurdles the warranty company made Tri-City jump through were all about. I cannot say enough how happy I was to get my truck back! It drives absolutely amazing and I could not have asked for a better team to take care of this for me! Thank you, Joey and the Tri-City team!

Can't recommend this place enough! Brought my jeep to a different shop thinking it was a transmission issue, they said the whole thing needed to be replaced and quoted me $8000! uh no thanks....I did some more research and found Tri-City. The whole process was amazing, different from any shop I've been to. The staff was super friendly, informative, and helpful. The driving test was really cool, and made sure I felt like my issues were understood. The building itself and waiting room was nice clean and comfortable. Then the best part. My transmission did not need to be replaced, actually just needed some new mounts and screws, and cost me a QUARTER of what I was originally quoted from the first shop. Christmas came early and my baby is running as smoothly as ever. Thank you TriCity!

I've been coming here for 7+ years. Multiple vehicles. Not once have I questioned whether I was being taken advantage of. That alone is worth five stars. I've had Tri-City handle everything from a full transmission rebuild on my 4Runner to timing belt service, brakes, AC, and regular maintenance. Every single time, Dave, Joey, and the team walk me through what they found, why it matters, and how they're fixing it. No upselling. No vague explanations. Just straight answers. What most people overlook: the shop is clean. That's not a small thing. A clean facility tells you everything about how a team operates. These guys pay attention to details, and it shows in the quality of their work. They've gone out of their way for me, caught minor issues and handled them without making it a production, worked with me on timing and cost when it mattered. That's a shop that gets the long game. Finding a mechanic you actually trust is rare. This is that place. If you're done rolling the dice on shops that treat you like a transaction, come here.

Honest reliable shop. Took my car in after another shop, said I needed a $5500 new transmission. They thoroughly tested it, drove it, didnt over charge me. And didn't find anything wrong with it. Great communication throughout. I wouldn't take my vehicle anywhere else for transmission needs. I recommend them 100%

Met the Tri-City Team after bringing in my Jeep for a shifting issue. They test drove it and couldn’t replicate the issue so I left it with them for further diagnostics. Throughout the process the communication was great, they even called me with an update when they said they would. Their mechanics were able to pinpoint the issue, which happened to be from a mistake a mechanic at another shop made during a routine service. Dave and his Team quickly resolved the issue and saved my transmission from further damage. This will be the only shop I use for repairs and transmission related issues going forward. Highly recommend Dave and his Team at Tri-City!

Dave and Tri City Transmission saved me. Recently my car decided to stop working. I have a 2017 MINI Cooper (my second)and I received a service message from my car to stop driving immediately, so you can imagine I was very panicked. I thought it was overheating so I stopped and I waited for it to cool off for a couple of hours and it still told me not to drive the car anymore. I had my car towed to a MINI Cooper dealership and they took a look at it and said it was my transmission and it would cost me $15-$18,000 to replace. Needless to say there were some tears and after my initial oh my God, what am I gonna do and some other expletives I got online and I found Tri City Transmission. I gave them a call and spoke with Dave and he pretty much explained to me what happened. He offered a loaner car That I was able to use for a couple of weeks. As I live about 40 miles from my work so the offer of the loaner car really made a difference a very difficult situation. Then he began the search for a transmission for my car. This has been a very challenging situation and the kindness and awesome customer service of Dave and all of the guys at Tri City Has made what could’ve been a life altering experience much more manageable. They really saved the day and me thousands of dollars. I can not thank them enough.

I had an excellent experience with Tri City Transmission from start to finish. The team was professional, honest, and extremely knowledgeable. They took the time to explain the issue clearly and never tried to upsell unnecessary work, which I really appreciated. They also kept me updated every step of the way by phone and text, so I was never left wondering what was going on. The repair was completed on time, and my vehicle runs better than ever. What truly set them apart was the loaner car they provided—this made a huge difference and showed how much they care about their customers’ convenience. It’s not easy to find an auto shop you can truly trust, but Tri City Transmission has earned my confidence. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work, fair pricing, and outstanding customer service.

The short version: Chris and the technician who I met at drop off were great. Dave was not. They missed a promised follow-up call and it turned into a shocking display of unprofessionalism. If accountability and communication matter to you, read below and check the low-star reviews before you come here because there is a common theme amongst them. I came to Tri-City after an accident left me with intermittent transmission slipping. I fully understand that an intermittent issue can be hard to diagnose. Chris scheduled my drop-off and was polite, informative, and professional. The technician who I did a test drive with was the same— I asked him how they test for intermittent slipping if it doesn’t happen on a test drive and he made me feel comfortable with the process. I explained upfront that I was paying out of pocket for a rental and expressed that I would like to avoid leaving my car over the weekend if possible. Chris said bring it Thursday, they'd do their best to fit me in, and would contact me with an update (even explained their “CWU” - call with update acronym on the paperwork) by end of day Friday. I offered to bring the car on Monday if that worked better for their schedule — he said no, I think we can fit it in. Friday came and went with no call. I assumed they had findings and needed more time. By Monday noon, still nothing, so I called. A man named Dave answered with no update readily available — only that notes showed they hadn't been able to replicate the issue. If that was the finding, why hadn't anyone called so I could pick up my car? Dave said he'd call me back, and did — two hours later. That's when things became truly shocking. He was rude, condescending, and dismissive in a way I've genuinely never encountered professionally. I own a business in consulting. I work with small businesses all day, every day. I know the difference between a difficult conversation and deflection and disrespect. He repeatedly referenced a recording of my intake call to justify why they weren't at fault. Yes, I acknowledged the car might need to stay through the weekend — but that's really not the point. If no issue was found, why zero outbound communication? When I told him I felt gaslit, he told me I was the one gaslighting him. They did waive the $99 diagnostic fee, which I appreciate. An honest conversation about why Friday's update never happened would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.

After a lengthy web search I landed on Tri-City Transmissions for my recent Honda repair. It is hard to find trustworthy shops these days and when it concerns a transmission it gets worse. I thought mine was doomed after a lack of proper maintenance. Thier system here is a bit different. The initial diagnostic is Non-invasive which means they don't pull your transmission first just to tell you you need a new one. It all starts with a road test with you and a Technician, I my case it was Dave(Manager/Owner)who was very friendly. Several questions are asked and notes taken along with a real-time scan of the trans. operation. Once a complete diagnosis is done they call you at a pre determined date/time with the findings and cost. In my case it actually was not the transmission but a bad tensioner pulley. I was given a fair price to repair my issue using genuine Honda parts with a time line that worked for me. I also learned they are a full service shop so everything from oil changes to transmissions can be done here. Give Tri-City a chance and see for yourself.

Thank you! Wanted to share some positive feedback for Tri-City Transmission. The staff was incredibly helpful and patient with my car. Things don’t always go as planned, but they made the situation so much easier by loaning me a vehicle while they worked on mine. That level of service truly made a difference, especially when you rely on your car every single day. I highly recommend Tri-City Transmission.
