Friendly but missed a lot of things when I paid $96 for an inspection on a truck I purchased. Took it to my actual mechanic a few days later to find out it needs new ball joints and a serpentine belt, why didn't the guys at Valley see this??

I really wish I could give this place a good review, but the quality of work I recieved vs the quality I expected just do not match up. I was referred to this shop by my boyfriend's mom who (before the result of my experience) held this shop in such high regard that she would only allow them and the dealership to touch her vehicles for any service. She took her cars there for many years, but she mentioned just before my experience with them she had noticed a little bit of a decline of satisfaction on her end from the previous few accounts of having work done by them, but still highly recommended them to me when i was looking for a place to have my brakes serviced when i started to notice some mild brake squeaking. They assessed the issue, gave me the estimate of work that entailed replacement of front rotors and pads, I authorized them to complete the job. Picked up my car on a Friday afternoon. Had a job in Los Gatos the next day and didn't notice any problems the whole way there and back. The next day, i went to the store a few blocks from my house and noticed a bad grinding noise. And when i was going to head back home, the grinding proceeded to get worse and the brakes locked up as i was going out of the parking lot. So i backed up into a parking stall and called for a ride to avoid any further damage. Since at this point it was sunday, I didn't want to, but i had to leave my car over night in a public parking lot. I called valley center first thing monday morning and they had it towed to their shop. Their explanation after looking over my car? Really casually explained that the brake pads they installed on my vehicle must have been defective, the brake pads got so hot they melted and warped the rotor. So they fixed it of course. Which I am glad they did stand by their work at that time, but ever since i picked my car up the second time, I know something is wrong with my brakes! I cannot get the employees at this shop to even take me seriously when I've brought it in about 3-4 times since the second brake job. Just right after I notice something about the way my car's brakes that just isn't right. Even people that have no idea about my experience with getting the brakes done the first time at valley center, I let them drive my car and without fail, I always here.. "What's up with the brakes in this car?" Or something along those lines. They've made squeaking and screaching noises ever since day 1. They have a really delayed stopping distance. I have to start slowing down really early as well as easing on and off the brake and trying to coast to a stop. Anytime I have my foot on the brake for longer than 3 seconds there the brake petal will start to skip hard and I can here it too. Feels like maybe the rotors are worn unevenly. Like at a certain point your pads and rotors aren't even touching. This situation always comes with a burning rubber smell. Sometimes if i must brake suddenly, the brakes will skip and if I'm trying to come to a stop, i know it's not gonna stop. So i veer off the road to avoid hitting other vehicles. And going down hill always brings insane amounts of burning brake smell. And to top it all off, the constant squeaking noises have now graduated to a horrible low grumble noise in my passenger front tire. Audible when stopping at low speeds. Had these guys taken accountability and took pride in their work enough to do the right thing and fix their screw ups, I would be explaining my experience with valley center the five star way, but the shop owner made his choice over what is more important to him: quality of the jobs completed or quantity of how many cars he can bus in and out of his shop in a day by doing the absolute bare minimum in a hurry to get paid for the work. Obviously he also chose to loose a longtime customer who also considered the owner a trustworthy mechanic and aquaintance. Which is very hard to find. But keep looking because it's not gonna be valley center car care.

Mark and Jacob and their crew are very accommodating and sensitive to the needs of their customers. After returning from a long trip, I discovered I neglected to renew my vehicle registration (a couple of weeks late), which required that my vehicle be smogged. I called and requested an appointment; Mark gave me one first thing the following morning. This may seem like a simple enough service, but this is a good example of the way Valley Center Car Care has responded to my service requests in the past.

Yes I pulled in for some service I told the gentleman that I would pay him money to spray WD-40 on the back tire of my e-bike tell me no that he doesn't lend out tools I wasn't asking to borrow tools I was asking for service when I was willing to pay money you told me no and look at me with disgust that sound like being racist to me why would he deny service if I was willing to pay

These guys seem pretty straight forward. My smog checks there have been quick and honest. Other work has also been great. They seem to be focused on getting you in and out and just doing what they need to do. They are close to home and while that is a plus, it isn't the only reason why I keep going back. I know how hard it is to run a small business, and God help us in California.

Very helpful and friendly. They gave me a great deal on changing out my radiator hose. Under $300 with parts and labor. Even took it out on a test drive to make sure there were no leaks in a great place.

Mark, Jacob, and crew are the real deal! They've done everything form general services (oil changes, etc.) to more substantive work (brakes, alternator replacement, spark plugs) for my early 2010s Yaris. If something goes wrong, they replace it at no cost. It is nice to have a trustworthy and well-priced mechanic in the area! Best of all: they fit me in whenever I have a more pressing need - like this morning when my alternator stopped working.
