Very friendly and easy to work with. I will be coming back here when I need work done in the future. Dec. 2018 I've gone back and I can only say positive things! I have a Toyota with about 150k miles on it and they are great about letting me know what things will need to be done soon so I can plan for the repairs and feel confident that I'll be able to keep this car for awhile.

I have been using Wornall Automotive over the years. A bit pricey $$$, but they usually do good work and are close to my house.. Recently, I brought my car in to have a couple of sway bar bushings replaced. I dropped off the car in the morning and was called sometime after 12:00 noon. They told me that they broke off 3 of the mounting bolts (Rusted). They then told me they would have to take off the lower control arms to drill the bolts out and that was going to cost $250.00 per arm plus the cost to drill the holes for a total somewhere around $600.00 - $700.00 or replace the control arms and drill the holes out for around $1300.00 or just pick the car up. I asked them if they could just drill out the bolts from the top with a 90 degree drill. I was told easier said than done. I asked a couple of other mechanics and they both told me the same thing. They broke the bolts, they should fix them. Being mechanically inclined, I bought an angle drill and did the job myself. I don't think I will be using these guys in the future if that is the way they treat their customers.

On 10/20/23 my catalytic converter was stolen while parked at the night drop on their property. Beware they have no cameras and on a brightly lit corner of Gregory and Wornall my converter was stolen. They mentioned this has happened 14 times at their business yet they never discouraged me from using night drop, have no cameras, and acted completely unremorseful. Scott and Mark ran testing on the engine anyway and then called to notify me it appeared my catalytic converter was missing after the fact, citing they thought maybe I had dropped off a car missing a catalytic converter and were confused by my instructions. A simple call before performing the work would have cleared it up. My first experience at Wornall Automotive ended up with a missing catalytic converter, a bill for worthless engine inspection (which they did slightly discount), and a lack of any gracious customer service, especially the manager Mark who talked at me like I'm an idiot. I suppose I am for trusting their offer of a night drop option. You may want to discourage further customers from dropping at night, build a fence, add a camera or do something to protect your customers. Lost a customer fellas.

Wornall Automotive is great! Mark is very helpful and explains things so that you understand what's going on with your car. They understood I was on a budget and helped me prioritize what needs to happen now and what can wait for future service. I was told at one place a service needed to be performed on my car and Wornall Automotive let me know that it was definitely not needed. They may cost just a bit more, but it's totally worth it for the service and peace of mind. I would definitely recommend them and I will be bringing my car here for future service.

Wornall Automotive is probably the best shop I've ever received service from. The staff is wonderful - friendly, honest, and more than helpful! I've only gone in there twice for my car, but unless I'm doing the work myself, I will always choose to take my car to them. They replaced my fuel pump with a respectable price. They kept me updated while they were holding my car at the shop every day. The shuttle service is very appreciated! It was nice being able to drop my car off before work and then get a ride from the shop. My second trip was for my fuel gauge; it had stopped working. Thanks to the wonderful warranty from replacing the fuel pump, I was able to get that fixed up for free! :D Thank you so much, again! I will always choose this shop over any other in Kansas City.

The absolute best! Very easy to work with. We were able to drop off our car after hours and they kept us updated throughout the whole process. They did not nickel and dime us, and they were actually able to complete the work we needed under the initial quote, which I have never seen before in my life.

Mark was very personable over the phone and in person. He explained every step of the process and why I needed the work that he was recommending. He even recommended the *cheaper* brand of tires to me, explaining that it made no difference. When they aligned my tires, they even included a printout of the state of my suspension and explained what the diagram meant. This place gained a new lifelong customer today.

They are absolute sunshine here. They were very transparent about costs up front and so polite in all interactions. When they realized they over quoted and my brakes were actually still ok, they called to update me and see how I wanted to move forward. I was able to save some money. They have a customer for life.

I came here to get a headlight fixed. Mark and his team were extremely kind and went the extra mile to serve me quickly. They were extremely transparent about what it could cost to fix - and it ended up being way less expensive than they originally estimated. I appreciated the element of “no surprises” as Mark explained was his goal with his customers. Highly recommend and will be returning myself!

This is my go-to neighborhood auto shop. They always do a great job, are honest with what my car needs, and are fairly priced. I’ve never had a bad experience with my car in their care.

Great guys. I appreciate that they serve Brookeside / Waldo’s motorcycle vehicle inspection needs. I will be recommending them to anyone who asks for an auto maintenance recommendation.

Mark and his staff are always pleasant and helpful with questions and small fixes, even though they know we own an EV and plug-in hybrid. Yesterday, I stopped by with a question about a slightly cut tire, and Scott helped me. He came out and looked over the tire, and told me it wouldn't be a problem and why. Even though he probably could have sold me a tire or two, he shot straight. I appreciate the way they do business. Thanks!

Mark and Scott were very kind! I just needed an inspection and after calling 4 other places, they were the only ones who could get me in a full week earlier than anywhere else. Drop off was easy. I appreciate that Scott gave me a call about some upcoming items that would need attention on my car. I never felt pressured to do anything additional today. It really seemed like they genuinely just wanted me to be aware and plan for the work in the near future. INCREDIBLE. If you want friendly and honest service go here

What a great group of guys to work with (Mark and Scott). Excellent customer service and communication after a severe engine problem from a secondary timing chain breaking. If you are looking for the “old school” auto shop and treatment with current technology, look no further than Wornall Automotive. -Brett

Only went for an inspection to get tags but the guy knew his stuff and let me know I just needed an odometer verification but his enthusiasm and seemingly genuine desire to be helpful in the quickest way possible really made an impact. I only leave reviews if a place is extraordinarily good or bad so the fact that I took the time to review this place says a lot. Also seems very local/family owned which is a plus when you live in the same neighborhood and want to support neighborhood commerce.

Affordable, fast service and they always communicate if it's taking longer than expected. I also appreciated them telling me how urgent my upcoming repairs are, rather than pressuring to do it all at once like some places.

I have an 07 Buick that is getting up there in mileage so it has been time to do some needed maintenance. So far, I’ve had a great experience. They work fast, don’t charge an insane amount, and are honest regarding what i should do now and what can wait till later. I will continue to come here and let them work on my car. I would recommend this place to anyone needing automotive work done.

I wrote a longer poor review on CarFax’s site, so this one is simple. They’re going to over diagnose your car and follow the script of a bad reality TV show. Just find somewhere else to go, they will not think twice to charge you thousands for a poor service that is masked behind “friendly customer service.”

I was referred to Waldo Automotive, and I was so impressed I will never go anywhere else. Mark, Scott and staff were amazing and kept me informed. I have been looking for great mechanics for a while and really could not find one I trusted. These guys are trustworthy and know what they are doing. Very grateful to all of them!

Beware: Wornall Automotive - Incorrect Diagnosis & Poor Customer Service I want to share my recent experience with Wornall Automotive so others can make an informed decision. I brought my car in for diagnosis and was told I had a faulty thermostat. They charged me $200 for this diagnosis. However, when I tested the thermostat myself at home (standard boiling water test), it opened correctly - meaning the part was functioning properly and their diagnosis was wrong. When I called to discuss this with the manager and provided the facts about my test results, instead of acknowledging the possibility of an error, he became defensive and accused me of not installing the thermostat correctly. This was irrelevant to the issue - I had tested the standalone part and proven it was working as it should. The diagnostic work I paid for was simply incorrect. When I asked them to make it right, I was told it would be 2 weeks before they could look at it again. Only after I pushed back firmly did that timeline suddenly become 2 days. The manager was condescending throughout the conversation and showed no willingness to take responsibility for the faulty diagnosis or work with me to resolve the situation in good faith. I’ve lost confidence in their work and am taking my vehicle to another shop. I paid $200 for an incorrect diagnosis and wasted nearly a week, only to be treated dismissively when I presented evidence of their error. Bottom line: If you value accurate diagnostics and customer service that takes accountability, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.
