I have been recommending Richard and A&R since 2000. They have always been fair and honest to all of the customers that I could not help when I recommended them to take their vehicles to them. I have personally used them as my mechanics on my vehicle, when it was something that I could not do myself. Since moving away to New England, I trust them to take care of my father's vehicle and keep his vehicle in safe running conditions. Richard and his family have always called me ahead of time to discuss any issues that they have found and always have had fair pricing. They are an honest family owned and operated business and I would recommend them to anyone.

I was recommended to this shop by a friend and did not have a good experience when I reached out to them. I called to schedule an appointment and the response I received was rude and off putting. I began the conversation by saying "hi, how are you" to which I received the response "I was better until you called." I was shocked and just stated ok, nevermind. I did receive a call back shortly from a woman stating the previous person thought I was a telemarketer and asking how she could help me. I opted to look elsewhere. Not a great start to any type of business relationship.

Took my car there to be fixed. Cause a friend recommended them. They were very unprofessional and seem like they were doing too many task at once.. Wasn't happy with the service I received. My car only made it to my house and it's not been running since. So now I'm going to put back in another shop for more repairs. I have an interlock device on my car. This mechanic didn't follow proper instructions to work on the vehicle. He cost me money for volition that Wasn't my fault. I won't bring my business to this mechanic.

Would never recommend or will never go back . Nothing but problem after problem after my 1st visit and now that the transmission they put in 2 years ago went out, they can't find the warranty paperwork, or they just don't care to look. Be warned ⚠️

Customer service is basically non-existent. I waited in line for half an hour, and all they did was help other people who came in after me. Bear in mind this was after I had called in the day before to confirm a time. If you're too busy to accept new customers, that's something you need to tell people. Don't waste my time by telling me to come in when you're clearly too busy to handle any new requests. This place had so many vehicles parked around it, that I had extreme difficulty finding a safe place to park. They are overbooked and failed miserably at basic customer service and communication. I won't be going back, this isn't somewhere I would trust with my car ever

Zero stars is my honest review but the lowest Google allows is 1 star. I called the shop today and spoke with Richard who was more than rude. He did some work on my sisters Yukon and she has had problems since the day it left his shop. She has paid him way over $8k to now be sitting with a completely blown engine. I contacted Richard to try and help her get this resolved after he has given her the run around. He came to the phone with an extremely gruff attitude and wouldn’t even let me get a word in edge wise. I asked him if we could please have a conversation because we need this resolved as we are left without a vehicle and we found the warranty paperwork and simply need a part number to start a claim. He screamed at me and then hung up. I don’t know how you can be a business owner and treat customers this way. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.

This shop is awesome!!!! I was driving from Alabama to Norfolk Virginia and the clutch on my car burned out on the highway near China grove.. It's was way passed it's time to be replaced so I new exactly what the problem was. I called this shop and they took good care of me even came and got me with a tow truck. The owner well I'm guessing it was the owner asked me how soon do I need it and told him I will be in Virginia for 2 weeks. He gave me the price and it was fair for the amount of work they would have to do. He told me they was a little backed up with other cars so I assured him without telling him I had the money to pay for it by not complaining or asking to many questions and just said ok with confidence so I take it He took the hint and had my car out with new clutch in it in less then a week😂 This place was the best option I could have picked being stranded on the side of the road Thank you and much appreciated

I don't know if they can always do this, but they offered to do both and I was ready to go inside of 45 minutes and the price was fair. What a blessing. This will be my new go to shop. As a content creator who values promoting positivity and supporting local businesses, I don’t normally leave negative reviews — but my recent experience with A&R Auto Care of Kannapolis compels me to speak up. I’ve been a loyal customer for over 2–3 years since moving back from California. Unfortunately, this visit was beyond disappointing. I brought my vehicle in for A/C repair and was charged over $200 for preliminary work. Richard, one of the owners, told me a part was needed and to return in two days. After three days with no update, I reached out — only to be told he forgot to order the part because he was "too busy." I was understanding and gave him the benefit of the doubt. He asked me to return Monday, but when I arrived at 8 a.m. as instructed, he said the employee who handles A/C was out and asked me to come back Wednesday. Again, I agreed. On Wednesday, there was another excuse — his bays were full and he could only look at the car after lunch. I called back as asked, only to be pushed to Friday or Monday. At this point, nearly two weeks had passed with no work completed. I continued to be patient, but when I arrived today, yet another excuse was given. I calmly explained my frustration — the heat, the delays, and the miscommunication — and asked for a proper refund. When I mentioned that I may share this experience on my platform, Richard finally became apologetic. I truly appreciate the receptionist who maintained professionalism and tried to hold him accountable. To his credit, Richard did issue a refund, and I’m grateful for that. However, the overall experience showed a lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for customers' time. This business does not operate on the values it should. There are consistently long delays, empty promises, and excuses, which is likely why there are so many cars sitting idle on the lot. I will not return, and I cannot recommend A&R Auto Care to others. If you're no longer passionate about your work, it's time to let others step in who truly care about their customers and community.

My mom‘s car axle rod broke on me in the middle of the road and they towed my car in and had it fixed for her! They had it fixed within a couple of days and very happy with it and very happy with the price! These mechanics are extremely professional and knowledgeable! Very grateful! Thank you!

Absolutely do not go to these people. First off, they’re very short with you on the phone even when you’re nothing but polite to them. Secondly, I don’t know what their problem is, but I’ve called multiple times about having my Chrysler 300 S towed in to be fixed and they promised a mechanic was on their way. They said they would call to let me know when they’re coming to pick it up. It’s been two days and nobody has showed up. No explanation, no call to notify me that they need some extra time, no attempts to work out a schedule, I didn’t even get a name or a price range for the tow! At this point, I’m convinced they are being purposely negligent for likely impure or ignorant reasons, so if the folks of A & R reads this, go ahead and take me off the list. Don’t bother showing up. I will be leaving this review on other platforms and spreading this message via word of mouth to everyone I know in the area with car troubles. I did not deserve to be treated like this and I’m tired of being disrespected. May you have the day and the returns you deserve.
