I had my vehicle towed to this location after it became inoperable on May 20, 2023. I was told that this would be a free tow since I was towing it to a AAA car care center even though it was over the allotted miles for my basic membership. I decided to have it towed to this AAA center at 606 S Stratford Rd, Winston-Salem, NC. Upfront they informed me that it would be a $150.00 diagnostic fee regardless of work done. I agreed and they discovered that I needed a fuel pump replaced and fuel system flush. The charge for this work was quoted at $1,440.00. Yep you read that right, over $1,400 to replace a fuel pump and flush the fuel system. Oh and they suggested that I replace the spark plugs and wires along with flushing and replacing other fluids for $400.00 more. I decided to have my vehicle towed to another local shop with several certified mechanics. Their price to replace the fuel pump and flush the fuel system was $550.00. Almost $ 900.00 cheaper to do the same job and if I want them to do the tune-up it would be around $250.00. A total of $800.00 compared to the $1,800.00 AAA car center wanted for all suggested service. I suggest that you only use this location for your car repairs as a last resort considering the inflated prices they are charging for mechanical work. I thought that by being a AAA member the car care center would be reputable, but I don't consider this fair. The roadside experience was very good and the representatives that assisted in that request were very pleasant.

I ran out of gas yesterday and tried to renew my account and they wouldn't let me so I created a new account and they told me I had to pay 60 extra dollars to use the gas delivery service within the first three days after signing up. Im a return customer and I don't appreciate being nickel and dimed to use the services I payed for.

Car died while driving, had to get towed. Battery wouldn't hold charge, thought it would be alternator but turned out it was a clip on side of battery that a cable had melted.

They are absolutely the worst company! Last night I was stranded on the side of the road with my son. I was told every time I called that they were receiving a high volume of calls and would send someone as soon as they could find a company to tow my car. After calling them for updates, they had the nerve to ask if my son was a minor and still no one showed up to help us. Honestly what does that matter, our safety and a service I pay for is what matters! After waiting over 4 hours (11:30pm- 4am) I had someone else to call and request a tow for the same location and he was told they would not be able to tow the car until a towing company opened the next morning. They made it very clear to him they could not tow in this area in the middle of the night. Now remember they were still telling me it was due to high volume calls and they couldn’t get to me yet due to where I was on the list. At this point I had to find my own towing company who responded and had me picked up within 15 minutes! AAA even gave me a hard time with canceling and their customer service was horrible. They didn’t even want to know how to improve. I had to find a company myself and pay out of pocket to cover the charges. After further review, I have found out that towing companies will not tow for AAA in the Forsyth county area anymore. If you breakdown here know you are own your own until normal business hours and then you still might have to wait days to have your vehicle towed. How can you call yourself roadside assistance and take our money for services you can’t even provide? As a female stranded on the side of the road with my child in the middle of the night this was horrifying! AAA you should be ashamed of yourself and it’s time to look at your management team and company mission! Would you have even cared if something had happened to us last night?

Very rarely write reviews but this review is absolutely necessary. These guys are Rockstars! Garrett and the AAA team helped to resolve an electrical issue with my car that no other mechanic was able to figure out. They went above and beyond to pin point and fix the issue that was causing my car battery to die. I'm so appreciative!! An honest Mechanic is very hard to find. Considering the cost for maintenance, Finding a trustworthy mechanic could cost consumers thousands. I was fortunate to find AAA in winston. I will NOT be taking my vehicle anywhere else.

I don't even want to give one star but I got to, so I can leave a review. I've been waiting on a tow since Saturday night and here it is Sunday and I'm still waiting. I pay a lot of money a year for nothing and I Will Not renew my membership next year. They canceled my tow without calling to tell me and I only found out when my nephew called and told me they still haven't got there yet and I called them and customer service said someone put In the notes that they called and told me they canceled it(which was a lie). Y'all get no stars from me.

I cannot say enough good things about our neighborhood AAA. With three grandchildren in tow, I ended up with a tire going down pretty fast. It was very close to closing time for them, but they got me in quickly and took care of it within 30 minutes. I know I delayed they’re getting to leave on time, but they were gracious and efficient and got me on my way Safely.

I now recommend all AAA members to go here for your auto needs. I had a dead battery and Garrett got me in immediately after I called. I was shown everything recommended and given good prices for the services needed. Everyone at the front desk was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I will be back, for sure!

Crap service. Lied to for over 6 hours by multiple workers and managers about Coming to get my vehicle and they still have not come. They keep telling me someone is on the way and that they will call me but I never get a call. These people have the nerve to get an attitude about them lying and not being straight forward about their policies. I hate you all from the bottom of my heart and will never even consider you as an option in the future. Lost business FOR LIFE BECAUSE YOU ALL ARE LIARS WHO DOUBLE DOWN AND LIE MORE WITH AN ATTITUDE.

This is AAA roadside, not specific to the Winston-Salem location. AAA didn’t come when daughter locked keys in car. I got to her abt 3 hrs later. Called AAA on the way to find out what the heck was the deal, and the agent said that at that point, she couldn’t say that ANYBODY would EVER come, and was a good thing I could get there. Then days later when they didn’t call me to make it right, as the agent had stated would happen, I called them again. The agent agreed it was a bad experience that shouldn’t have happened, and said $40 would be returned to my account, which, since you pay for the whole 12 months in advance, any normal person would believe that to be mean they were returning money to my card. But got a note in mail yesterday, about 2 weeks later (instead of email confirming credit back that I asked for and was agreed to) that said it was $40 in AAA Dollars and I’d only see it as a discount and ONLY if I renew in 5 months!! I called again to make it right, 3 agents: a real life Karen, another lady, and then a smart a$$ Phil, all toed the company line and refused anything further. They said the previous calls were recorded and could listen and see what was said to me. When I told the smart a$$ Phil to listen to the call and see if his agent explained it to me the day she told me about the $40, he basically threatened to do so with an “I’ll get you” tone, I said do it. He did. About an 8 minute hold and he returned and claimed he could not, in fact, find the previous calls. How convenient. However, during the course of the next 5 minutes he let a couple things slip that let me know he HAD, in fact, heard the call. Called out his lies and told him I knew he had to say he couldn’t find the call bc he couldn’t stand by what his agent had told me. This company is garbage. They also left my 76 year old dad stranded and had to sleep in his car last year when his car broke down, and he ended up having to call tow companies the following morning and paid for the tow himself!! Do NOT WASTE your money thinking they are a good safety net for your family. I’ve been a customer with 4 people on the account for 6 years. They couldn’t care less and claimed they make no guarantees on whether they can get to you or not. Ummmm, what’s the point of the business if they take your money in full but do not deliver service when needed?!

Really have respect for this shop. As a female who isn't knowledgeable in automotive i thought I needed brakes and rotors and the guys here at AAA informed me that I in fact didn't need them that the alignment and new tires should take care of my issues and it did!!! They could have easily took my money and sent me on my way but they were real with me and saved me $500 and I really appreciate it very much!

I have the plus membership, I have never been so disappointed with Roadside Assistance! I don’t know who the person was that called, but he told me his driver had a pick up about a mile from my house and then had to drop it off at a location about a mile away from my house in the opposite direction and then the driver would be on his way. Well 1 and 1/2 hours later, a tow truck had not showed up at my house. I tried to call the same number back two times and sent a text message and the employee never responded. I left a voicemail stating I was calling AAA customer service, because “this was ridiculous!” While on the phone with AAA customer service, all of a sudden my phone is blowing up with phone calls and text messages letting me know the driver was on his way. The fact I had to call and complain, sad! The fact it took the tow truck two hours to go one mile, insane! I could half way understand if the driver was walking! Very disappointed with AAA’s Roadside Assistance.

I recently moved to North Carolina and visited AAA for some information. I was assisted by a wonderful representative named Mace, who helped myself and my family. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. it was clear he really knew what he was doing. Unfortunately, the only downside to my visit was my unfortunate interaction with the other front desk associate, whose name I believe is Kayla. She was quite unprofessional and repeatedly interrupted my conversation with Mace, talking over him when there was no need. It was disappointing, as her behavior nearly overshadowed what was otherwise an excellent experience thanks to Mace’s outstanding service.

I had a service appointment on Friday, December 12th, and wanted to commend your team. Acquil Steward provided excellent service at the front desk, and the servicing of my mother's vehicle was handled with great care and efficiency.

I stopped by the travel department and was helped by a super professional and friendly guy named Mr. Mace. He explained everything clearly and got me signed up for a membership — really great experience! The woman at the front desk with him, wasn’t as pleasant. She kept cutting in and talking over him, especially when I asked about insurance. It honestly felt like she was trying to take over the sale. I’ve worked in sales for years, and that kind of behavior really stood out.

A shout-out to the team at AAA in Winston-Salem. Over the years I’ve kept a AAA membership, and friends sometimes ask why—especially since it often goes unused. Well, this week is exactly why. My car suddenly stopped running properly and needed a tow. I contacted AAA on what was clearly a busy evening, yet a tow truck arrived within about 70 minutes. Since my regular mechanic isn’t local, the car was taken to the AAA Car Care facility. It was closed when the tow arrived, but the lot is well monitored with security cameras and tow trucks moving in and out, which made leaving the car there feel safe. The next day I dropped off the keys and soon received a very clear estimate—both by text and email. It was highly itemized, included photos, and the pricing was very much in line with what my usual repair shop charges. After seeing the strong Google ratings for this Winston-Salem location, I felt comfortable approving the work. While there, I mentioned how difficult it had been to secure a rental car—several reservations had been cancelled shortly after booking. I was told to check with the travel desk. Magicians! A few phone calls later, a Hertz vehicle had located for me, and it even qualified for a AAA membership discount. Meanwhile, the repair itself was completed within hours that same day. I picked my car up the following morning and was back on the road. The bill was reasonable—especially in an era where car repairs can sometimes feel like a guessing game. My experience here was the opposite: transparent, fair, and professional. This experience reminded me exactly why I keep my AAA membership. It’s a system you pay into so that when something goes wrong on the road, there’s a capable team here ready to help get you moving again. If all of this had been arranged piecemeal—tow, diagnostics, rental car, repairs—the cost and hassle could easily have been overwhelming. Instead, the people here made a stressful situation manageable. That’s worth a lot.
