They did a great job on a warranty issue even though the previous work was over the 12k warranty. David is the man.

Dave the owner took excellent care of us after we unfortunately hit a deer in the night and lost some transmission fluid. He put us on the lift, filled us up and ensured we were safe to travel home. Excellent service, excellent people. I highly recommend. Matt Stramel Elko, Nevada

I came to this place to get transmission oil changed on 2 vehicles. I spoke to a gentleman named David. We had a great conversation and I was given a deal for bringing in 2 cars. I gave him the year make and model of both cars, he wrote down the quote for both and handed it to me. I have a picture of it. First car was $235, the second car would be another 1.5 qt more at $15/qt so roughly around $250-$260. We dropped off the first car, everything went great, paid and picked up. Dropped off the second car, called to pay and come to find out I owe $330 not $250. That’s almost $100 more than what I was quoted. I ask why, they tell me they thought the transmission would only take 5 qt but it took 9 qt of oil. Apparently the year make and model of my vehicle has 4 different types of transmissions? It was a 2016 ford explorer. I did some research and all of the 3.5L V6 models have the same transmission. I’m very disappointed that a shop that specializes in transmissions was unsure how many qt of oil it would take prior to doing the service. What is even the point of providing a quote if you’re not sure? If you’re not sure, you can ask me the VIN maybe? You can ask me more questions about the vehicle? I don’t feel that it’s right to provide an estimate and then over charge the customer because you didn’t know this particular car took more oil than you thought. I hope upper management will see this review and help me out unlike Scott and Dave. I’d like to get the difference in price refunded back to me. Thank you.

I grew up in Detroit- land of the dishonest mechanical shops. I have almost always serviced my own vehicles but today I was short on time for starting a road trip. So today I brought my care into AAAMCO total car care in Boise, and had an outstanding, while you wait service experience. Dave, the owner was great; he could have hustled me on a noise i was concerned about in my 2002 'baby" mint wrangler. After the two senior mechanics took it for a ride and a look on the rack, The noise was not to worry. i had an optional routine 65,000 mile transmission service with the long trip planned for this afternoon. Dave, a fellow Army veteran, also gave me a veteran discount for my tranny service. I am ready to drive to Salt Lake city and back-about 600miles. I would recommend to anyone to trust their "baby" into Daves Total car care. Best to all , Have a great summer road trip! Doc Johnson, Army 18D retired

I called the shop after hours on Thursday evening. I left a message. I received a call back Friday morning at 7:45 AM. Mind you they open at 8 AM. Dave called to follow up. He was very friendly and receptive. We scheduled a time for me to come in after work. When I walked through the door he said "we've been expecting you". I'm already impressed with the personable service. As he's checking me in, I notice all the excellence awards on the wall with consecutive, year after year awards. He quickly gets a technician to check out my vehicle. I feared the worst. Thousands of dollars of repairs. Instead, about 15 mins later he comes back and says "your transmission is fine, here's what you've been experiencing". He told me what the problems were and I was out the door no charge with peace of mind! Hands down best experience I've went had dealing with car problems. I highly recommend these guys. Thank you Dave and crew! You guys are truly professionals!

Had an emergency transmission problem and Dave was unbelievable in helping me with my daughters car. He was able to diagnose it with in 2 hours, was very professional and gave us a referral to help fix some engine issues. If you have any type of transmission issue this is the place to take it to in Boise.

I had a great experience with AAMCO in Boise! Their team is attentive, professional, and clearly takes pride in doing the job right. While they may not be the cheapest option out there, the value they provide more than makes up for it. They under-promise and over-deliver, which is rare and refreshing in the auto repair world. My service was completed on time—actually ahead of schedule—and they kept me informed throughout the process. Highly recommend if you’re looking for trustworthy, high-quality work done with integrity.

Dave and Scott were both EXTREMELY helpful. I had a previous quote from a dealership and AAMCO was able to save me thousands of dollars, they also were able to complete the repairs in just a few days. They took the time to find out what was wrong with my transmission and only fixed what needed done. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AAMCO!!!

I took my car to them initially last fall for a transmission fluid change which was fine. I then took my car to them when my transmission/shifter started acting up and would not drive. They were the closest to me so I thought I'd go back to AAMCO. I was warned against taking it to them as a prior customer from earlier January 2025 stated they left random "spare" bolts/screws on the driver's seat, used ducktape to fix part of their radiator and left it hanging with wires exposed. I didnt think anything of it but after AAMCO let me know I needed to replace one part, it was done and they stated "it still shifts into 1st gear but you can't really drive it" and said it was my transmission, so I needed either a brand new one or a pre-owned. I wasnt completely comfortable with buying a new one or a pre-owned so I decided to take it to someone else instead who quoted me for $1k+ cheaper (quote was originally $6696 minus future labor from AAMCO, I paid ~$1200 for just the part and labor). Im glad I did, because after paying for my car and calling a tow truck to come take it to the other shop, I found 3 spare bolts/screws from my car thrown into my cup holder! They also did NOT inform me that my shifter was jammed into 3rd gear-when I took it in it was NOT jammed-and they installed the part wrong! The other shop had to take it off and redo it to get it to work properly again, as well as noticed two other parts (flywheel and clutch) were needing to be replaced. I dont fault AAMCO for this, as I assume they needed to take the old transmission out to access/see these. Luckily I had found the missing screws/bolts and gave it to them, which they needed to finish repairs on my car. Just overall a very bad experience and I'm shocked. I know its not the individual owners fault for all of this, more likely their technicians not being truthful or upfront and taking accountability for screwing up and costing me more money in the long run. Im very disappointed that I wasn't informed of any issues upon paying and picking it up.

We had an amazing experience with AAMCO. They helped us replace the rear differential on our 2018 Ford Edge Titanium with less than 31,000 miles on it. They handled everything with our warranty and kept us updated every step of the way, which took so much stress off of us. They had our car in and out of the shop within a week and a half, most of that time was fighting with tge warranty company. Every time we’ve worked with them, they’ve been incredibly easy to work with, understanding, and kind—especially knowing this is our family car. We truly appreciate their communication and care. Highly recommend! ❤️
