I brought my car to Alternative Auto Care for a $180 inspection after being told that cost could be applied toward repairs. After receiving high quotes for the work needed, I was suddenly told the $180 only applied to certain repairs and not others. That was never mentioned upfront and felt like a lie. Crooked Chris promised one thing and delivered another. I left feeling scammed and decided to take my car somewhere else. I won’t be back.

Coming here, I was really excited to be able to support a woman owned LGBTQ+ mechanic business & find a good mechanic in the area finally. I took my car in for inspection knowing the brakes were going to be needing done afterwards. They changed my oil, inspected my brakes & the ac. Almost $500. $120 for JUST the oil change on my 2008 mazda - my boyfriend doesn’t even pay that for the oil changes on his luxury car. I can get all four brakes done by my mechanic in cleveland for around a grand, and they were asking for over $700 for JUST the back. So I wasted an entire day getting off work to take my car before they close, paid $500 and only have an oil change to show for it. $100 for them to inspect the AC, tell me it’s broke & they don’t know what’s wrong with it & still need another $100 to run ANOTHER test. $100 to be told it doesn’t work, which I knew. $120 to be told the brakes need done, which I knew. Most expensive oil change of my life. I was really disappointed after seeing how well reviewed they were, I was hoping to not feel so scammed when I left.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Had scheduled an appointment but car stopped working before my scheduled appointment, they were able to get me in the very next day, helped me get a tow truck to get the car to the shop and were very informative every step of the process. They walked me through what was a 911 on my car and what could be done at a later date and were never recommending services I didn’t need. Would recommend to everyone, this will be my new go to for an auto repair shop.

My only regret is that I didn’t find Alternative Auto Care sooner. From the start, Stacey was kind, professional and attentive to my concerns. I particularly appreciate the detailed Diagnostic report (with color photos). I am far better informed about my vehicle than I was at time of purchase from a dealer. The work my car required was not cheap but I am confident that the job was done right and I am happy to give my money to a shop that pays its people a good wage. I’m leaving a review to show my utmost gratitude. I do travel work and was in the city for a few days. Needed to get my car checked out and an oil change. I was greeted by the owner and we took a test drive to listen to my car. She was very attentive to the car and was the best tour guide in town! Everyone treated me with respect and understanding.
