Went in to Car Toys McKinney to have my amp and wiring uninstalled from my vehicle so the car would go back to factory. The job was done, but I was charged $143, when I was initially quoted $115. Both prices felt very overpriced to just pull out a few wires… but I needed it done so I paid. I had also hoped to bring in my next vehicle to get the same (Provided) wiring and amp installed, but the agent quoted me nearly $400. Insanity. I will take my business elsewhere. Highly suggest you do the same.

I really can’t believe this car toys has the ratings it does. Taken 3 work trucks here for alarm systems and they’re all rigged wildly different. One can only use the original keyfob, other can only use the drone mobile alarm system keyfob, and the last for whatever reason they gave me two keyfob, only one works lol. Just no rhyme or reason to the things that they do.

Consumer service isn't the best. You can go in and not be greeted for like 20-30 minutes usually. I always leave wondering why I even went back. Usually just to ask questions but I'd be more inclined to spend money if they were more enthusiastic and helpful.

I had a really disappointing experience at Car Toys. The guy at the front desk (Adam) had terrible customer service — no greeting, no willingness to help, and zero communication skills. It felt like I was bothering him just by asking basic questions. To make things worse, they promised on things and they completely under-delivered. Nothing they said was followed through properly, and I was left waiting with no updates or accountability. The manager on duty (David) wasn’t any better. Instead of stepping in to fix the situation, he came off just as uninterested and unhelpful. If leadership is this disengaged, it’s no surprise this business is struggling. If I could give it a zero stars I would.

This is my second install with Car Toys. My old amp must have been gradually giving out as I heard crackling bsss distortions. It finally gave out. Car Toys sold me a better amp, and I am glad that I went with it. The clarity is superb. Very professional people. I would recommend Car Toys. They are not cheap, but you get what you lay for. Kudos to Car Toys.

11/14/25 update A year later I came back with another install. Worked with David this time. Wanted hard wire work done to run my radar remote through the center console. Had to do some surgery to make it work, involved removing center console components, cutting access for the cable and wow, what a clean look! Getting the tint done next. Very personable and agreeable to work with. Thanks, David! Great work you did, sir! Doug and Zach were amazing to work with to get the best price I could find on ceramic tint and compustar set up. Second car install and each visit seems better than the last. Thanks ya'll!

This team up at Car Toys is awesome! I just purchased a 5 year old suburban with an aftermarket system, and I brought it up here to have some issues addressed. The new ownership for car toys, specifically the McKinney shop was great. The manager of the installation team (forget his name) was great. Had to have old unit put back in bc I’m selling my truck. Normally not a free service but I was sold that it was back 2.5 years ago. Needless to say the new shop honored that and all the guys there were super nice. I’ll use em again for my new cars tint for sure.

Got my Tundra hooked up with a Full aftermarket system, stayed within my budget, answered all my questions and was flexible with the drop off/pick up dates and times due to my wacky work schedule. Adam was great and showed extensive knowledge on the equipment he was recommending. I had previously gotten a JL stealth box installed (before new ownership) and finally decided to remove the factory JBL system and put in a custom sound system, powered by its own seperate amp. This truck bangs now! Ill definitely come back for tint in the future!

Well, good morning, I have gone over to car toys, a little bit before Thanksgiving. They quoted us one price turnaround, go back and tried to get a radio backup camera. Etc done, they called it us $1200 to get there. Now, all of a sudden they don't remember who you are, of course, by then he remembers, but didn't stand on their price and tried to charge us another $400 for a car stereo with a backup camera so if you go there, make sure you write everything down, make sure you take pictures because they all of a sudden changes, any and everything they told you. But that's okay, they're not the only one in dallas, so they had a potential customer that was coming back with another car, but that's okay. I'll find someone else.I have a blessed

I have shopped at a couple different Cartoys stores over the years, the staff at McKinney including David, Austin, and Andrew all 3 took the time to go over every option possible to add subs in my suv in my price range. Got a price they started on my vehicle and kept me up to date every step of the way. The waiting area is very upscale for a car shop, I had complementary coffee and was able to watch a movie while I waited. Then when the install was complete I was walked outside and shown every aspect of the install with great explanations of everything! Will definitely be back to have more added to my system!

Avoid this car toys. I had them install a new head unit a few months ago and today I decided to I was going to add an amp and subwoofer. I remove the trim paneling to find a rats net of zip tied wires, unsecured wiring, broken panels, missing screws, and connection that were simply butt connected together. This is such a half assed, unprofessional install. I have been in the automotive field for 24 years and hold 9 ASE certifications, this is not the proper way to do any of this. They half ass their installs because 95% of their customers will never see their sloppy work. Such a disappointment. Now I have to waist hours doing it correctly.

These guys are great. I have visited them a few times with my F-150 Raptor. They installed a 14.4" head unit in my truck. They installed fog lights, they installed my hood lights and they installed my rock lights. They are knowledgeable and do quality work, plus they are now Texas owned. I can highly recommend Car•Toys in McKinney. David has done all the installs and does great work.
