Absolute 5-Star Review for G&J Auto Repair Before I begin, I want to extend my sincere thanks to Jeffrey, Juan, and the entire team at G&J Auto. You guys are absolutely amazing. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and honesty. Back in January, my check engine light came on, and I decided it was time to get it checked out. I’ve owned my 2013 Audi A5 for years and have always taken it to the Elk Grove dealership for maintenance. However, with oil changes costing over $200 and service times often exceeding four hours even with an appointment, I knew it was time to explore other options. After reading G&J’s outstanding reviews, the decision to try them was easy. As someone who trusts Yelp, I felt confident in giving them a shot. I brought my car in, and the team performed a thorough diagnostic. They identified the issue as a failing water pump and also pointed out a few other areas that might need attention down the road. After discussing everything with Juan, I decided to move forward with just the water pump repair for now. They scheduled me to drop the car off the following week. When I returned, Juan provided detailed before and after photos along with clear explanations of the work performed. The repair was completed as promised. During the test drive, however, the EPC light appeared. Without hesitation, the team began working on the car again. Even though it was a Friday evening and the shop normally closes at 6 PM, they stayed well past 7 PM trying to diagnose the issue. That alone speaks volumes about their work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to their customers. After several days of meticulous investigation, they discovered glass-like contaminants in the coolant circulation system, which required a full coolant flush. This wasn’t a one-time fix. They had to flush the system multiple times. I would drive the car for a couple of days, bring it back, and they would flush it again. They repeated this process three times until the EPC light finally disappeared. It was a long and unexpected journey, but through it all, I was deeply impressed by their persistence and integrity. I truly cannot imagine taking my car anywhere else now. Very few shops would have shown this level of care and commitment to seeing the issue through. What’s even more impressive is that although the EPC light issue was unrelated to the water pump repair, they honored it under warranty. I do not know much about cars, but with nearly 140,000 miles on mine, it is likely the contaminants were an old issue unrelated to the recent work. Yet they took full responsibility and treated the situation with fairness and transparency. These guys are exceptional. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Highly recommended.

Very highly recommended! Juan and his team did a great job on my 2013 Honda Accord at a very fair price and now my car is running just like it was when i bought it 11 years ago! They also cleaned my entire engine, I haven't seen it this clean since... well, also since I bought it. I went in for timing belt system and sparkplugs maintenance work, as well as some random intermittent noise that was worrying me. They found the source of the noise and resolved it easily enough as well as finished up all the other work and even replaced my alternator belt as a freebie! Juan also found the reason my car's been sounding and driving increasingly poorly over the years (damaged engine mounts). He researched and gave me options if I wanted to replace them, along with the prices and pros/cons of each choice. I ended up going with his recommendation. And the final bill was less than quoted because he was able to determine that a couple of the mounts were still good, so he saved me a few hundred instead of just replacing them anyways. I'll be coming back to G&J for my future car work for sure!

Dealt with enough mechanics to know these guys are special!! Great communication about itemized pricing upfront. With my engine being picked, they were able to find an additional item in need of replacing during the process. They did not charge me any additional labor -this is rare and incredibly considerate.... More importantly, their shop looks exactly how you would hope to see a shop: busy and clean and organized. Communication wise, Insights provided lined up with my knowledge of the car; documentation of the work was a nice detail added. They cleaned the engine and floor; the air freshener was a nice touch. Oh, and they finished ahead of time enough that I was able to return the rental a day and a half early on a 2 day job and save 50 bucks there. The car runs much much better so far... As my Engineer father loved to say : within budget and ahead of schedule. Time will tell, but I'd bet the quality of work is right up there with everything else. This place seems to be the unicorn of cost x quality x quick... I realize I am cannibalizing this rarity somewhat by sharing this, but these guys deserve it. I plan to return.

I literally cannot say enough about Juan and his team. This is an absolutely exceptional business to work with. And I do not use the word exceptional lightly. First of all, he is a young business owner that goes more above and beyond than any business owner I think I've ever met. He is transparent, honest, has amazing customer service skills , is a wonderful communicator , and incredibly thorough in his explanation of the what, the why, and the how when it comes to repairing your car. I took my 2017 BMW 430i to him for a second opinion so-to-speak after the dealer quoted me over $12,000 for the work. They did a diagnosis on my car and were very real with me with what it actually needed and then gave me a very , very fair estimate. I chose to do business with them for all of the above reasons and was incredibly grateful I did. I went on a business trip and left my car there to have all the work performed while I was out of town. I was shown all of the new parts that were original BMW parts, and he explained why we were going to use original BMW parts. When I picked up the car he showed me all of the old parts they took out, the condition they were in, and explained each piece to me and the why behind needing to replace it. I've never experienced anything like this with any repair shop I've used in the Bay Area or here in Elk Grove. Again, I could not be more impressed with the level of professionalism, communication, and transparency. I was literally blown away. On top of all of this communication, I received photographs before and after the repairs were completed, as well as video - very much like a dealer would give you. Juan took extra time to go on the test drive with me when I felt I was experiencing a little bit of weirdness when I was driving it, and this is standard practice for this shop. I could literally go on and on with more accolades and kudos about G and J. Juan and his dad own the shop and clearly take pride in their work and know what they are doing. Obviously, I would highly recommend anyone in the area or outside of the area take their vehicle to G and J as they are so incredibly knowledgeable and really take the time to make sure you are happy and satisfied with the work before and after it's done.
