I am a 52 yr old women on medical .... I've brought my car (2006 Hyundai Tucson) in a few times to Genesse Auto. I usually leave my car ther over night so they can start whatever they need to do with it or at least get it in the rotation early... every time !!!! It takes hours, a day (for an oil change, and tire rotation) and in some cases DAYS to get my car back. Last time I made an appt for an oil change and tire rotation a week in advance and also confirmed with a worker (Eddie) two days prior to appt. .... so i left my car overnight (my appt was 8:30am for an oil change, tire rotation) ... i called John at 2pm (to make sure they even got my car) and his response was "oh yeah, we got the car up, but i can't remember what we were doing to it" !?! He said he called and left messages (there was not one missed call nor message on my phone) and was waiting for me to return call. Anyway, I let that go and reminded John what my appt was for. (OIL change, tire rotation). I finally had to call him again bout 4:30-5pm to ask how my car was ... he said it was done except there is a leak in my radiator and there is something wrong with your seat belt latch. I NEVER ONCE had a problem with my seat belt latch nor have I ever seen a leak in my radiator (i watch for leaks everytime i gas up) ( i mean this was gushing out radiator fluid on the ground.) Never have I seen a leak or gush of radiator fluid. Then I find out John was not the one working on my car. I feel very dissatisfied!!! Especially when he says he LOVES to help elder women. It makes me feel like I am not a valued or appreciate customer. I will bring my car back to fix the radiator (John promised he'd be the one working on it as I feel the "workers" r not being gentle with my old car.) I hope they fix the seat belt and radiator with no problems and in a timely manner. Sorry, Just a dissatisfied customer.

I have been going to john for over 15 years. Was always happy with his work and prices. Brought my car for inspection and maintenance at 8:15 my appt was for 8:30 around 8:45 or so john shows up and I give my key. At 10:06 his employee calls and says everything looks good but I could use a new battery so I say sure since the inspection surely wont be that much. A few hours later i went in to pick it up and was floored by an almost 800 dollar bill ! John wasn't there so i went back a few days later to find out if this was all just a big mistake. So he basically said the computer shows this many hours at 135 an hour so if it only takes less than an hour and a half you still get charged for computer estimate of 4 hours! He offered 90 dollar refund but I refused. If he needs the money this bad he can keep it. I noticed the last few times I went in that not as many employees working there maybe that's why the new prices. I forgot to get an estimate before they started and will not be making that mistake again.i really hate leaving a review like this from someone I liked and respected for so many years but I dont want this happening to anyone else

Should’ve taken the time 20+ years ago to write this review for John. He is absolutely the best mechanic you’ll ever meet and the most honest man that you’ll ever meet. Save yourself a lot of time and money and just bring him the car to fix it right the first time. He always notices other things that have gone wrong and takes care of them many times for free!

Been going here for 7 years. John is the best mechanic I have ever had. Honest, skilled, trustworthy, efficient, fair, and at a totally reasonable cost. And he takes the time to talk to you and explain your situation and show you himself. He really cares about my cars. And he’s funny! I feel like he is family at this point. He is the only mechanic you will ever need.

My family and I have been taking our vehicles to John’s shop for 18 years. John is a man of his word and he is very professional and personable! John has gone above and beyond for my family and always finds time to squeeze me in. Not only is John a wealth of knowledge, he truly cares about each and every one of his customers . I know with John, I have made a friend for life. His prices are fair and he does excellent work! I bought my first car in 2019 and had no idea what basic maintenance was required. I came here for my first oil change and John was so kind that while I waited for my car to be done, he walked me through the different maintenance I would have to keep an eye out for. For 2 years, I only brought my car here, then I met my partner (who happens to be a mechanic and now services my car). John is very fair and transparent with his prices and when I was having an evap error (constant check engine light due to something wrong with my gas tank), he walked me through the different repair options and let me decide if I wanted to try the cheaper options first before doing the more expensive diagnosis and repair. I really recommend Genessee Auto Care for an honest, trustworthy, and thorough mechanic.

John was AMAZING!!! he fixed my truck and got me back on the road in 1 day. The Ford dealership quoted me 2200 dollars to fix a multitude of issues. John correctly fixed the only issue I had and did not charge me for extra unnecessary repairs. He fixed my issue for a fraction of the price. Will hopefully have my mother’s 1998 Civic repaired by this place on Friday. Regardless, I just wanted to say how nice and helpful John was in trying to get my mother’s car on the schedule…which he did. I personally have heard great things about his work and shop through a personal friend. Nice guy for sure…UPDATE… John did an excellent job! Car running within a few hours… all good.

I called Genesee Auto Care by referral after a really bizarre a terrible 2x experience with a smog shop in Bay Park. John took the time to talk to me over the phone to give me sound and honest advice when he really had nothing to gain by doing so - my car was already repaired and I was ready to clear smog (long story). Regardless, he made me feel SO comfortable throughout our conversations and I was able to bring my car to him to look at as well as have his partner/neighbor perform my smog check. It's super hard to trust others in the auto industry nowadays but I can say that John will have your best interest at heart and lead with honesty. If I need my car repaired, I'll be back here.

John has taken outstanding care of my families and their vehicles for over 20 years! Bought new truck in 2015 so I didn’t see him for a long time. Now that it’s not new anymore I went back to get some work done. The honesty, integrity, and knowledge are still paramount for this company I see. I did make the mistake of taking it to a shop that was closer to my location at first. Wasted 280 dollars there, with no answer, and I was told to return in a week. I brought my 2012 kia to Genesee Auto Care to fix 2 cylinders that were misfiring. He listened to the engine and asked detailed questions. He diagnosed and gave me a truthfull and fair estimate for the parts and labour for a master mechanic. The time of service and parts were exactly correct. The car is now running great, my gas mileage improved markedly. The entire process was very professional, quick and exactly the fixes needed with no added charges. I am very happy my car purrs again and feels like new. Give highest recommendation of the master mechanic John and his repair facility.
