Almost two years ago I dropped my wife’s 1967 Mustang Convertible off at John’s Automotive Care to begin a restoration project. Their Restoration Shop team did for us a complete mechanical makeover from brakes, engine and transmission rebuild to a full suspension upgrade. The team led by Bryan (Restoration Project Manager), Robert (Shop Supervisor) and Mike (Lead Mechanic) provided expert advice and guidance throughout the project. Their level of attention to detail and knowledge was beyond impressive! Bryan suggested brake and steering component upgrades that make this old pony drive and handle like a modern car. He was also instrumental in helping with suggestions for follow on paint, body and upholstery work. Robert the shop manager was just a wonderful person to work with during a project that can obviously be stressful at times. His calm demeanor, outstanding communication skills and overall knowledge of older cars made the difference on how smooth everything went throughout the project. When it comes to Mike the lead mechanic, we just don’t have enough good words and praise, he puts the MASTER in a master mechanic. Mike is one of the most knowledgeable and talented mechanics I’ve ever encountered. This man literally restored this car from top to bottom and into the award winning show car it is today!

John’s automotive repair is a great spot. I have an old jeep that I’m very particular about when bringing it to a mechanic shop. Trust me when I say the reviews are legit it’s the reason I brought my car to them in the first place. The guys up front are very nice (Dave is who I spoke to, he's really cool). Once they’ve finished the inspection they’ll send you an email with pictures of your car and the problems that they’ve found. Then they’ll give you a call to explain all of it. Being a girl I was really worried about getting played and being upsold on things that weren’t necessary to the safety of the car and none of that happened. Even when I got the quote I had my boyfriend call just to make sure (he knows A-LOT about cars) and he agreed everything that we spoke about needed to happen. I will be bringing my car here in the future. These guys are honest and reliable 😎

I’ll never take my car anywhere else again! John’s is reliable, honest, and friendly. As a woman with limited car knowledge, bringing my car somewhere can be a little intimidating but I’ve never felt uncomfortable at John’s. They explain everything, give reasonable recommendations, and keep me updated if anything changes. They even took some off the final price when they needed less transmission fluid than initially estimated. This is an example of how honest they are. I love John’s!

Overall my experience was good at John’s automotive. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, they offered refreshments, and a ride home. When I picked my car up I loved that everything was wrapped in plastic to avoid my interior getting dirty. I would have given 5 stars except the amount of time they had my car for a wheel alignment was quite long. My appointment was for 9am on a Monday and they didn’t start on my car until the next day. That was a bit frustrating. But the other things make up for it and I would take my car back there on the future.

I brought my 2013 Nissan Sentra here for an inspection. For the price of the multi-point inspection, they found the main issue and dozens of others (lol). When they called, they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want, which I felt was very different than if I went to my dealership. I like when I can collaborate with a person or business rather than blindly accepting what they determine is needed. Johns Automotive team (front staff and mechanics) researched and discussed with me what was needed now and were prepared with information of what would need to be done down the road. I would recommend this dealership to any and everybody. I can not say enough about these guys, my battery in my car died the day before I was supposed to fly cross country so I called the guys over at John’s auto to see if they could help. Not only did they help me they went above and beyond they drove out to me to jump my car and have me follow them to the shop. Then after getting there they diagnosed all my issues and even gave me a ride home. These guys are amazing people and do amazing work my car feels brand new after their service. Then to put the cherry on top I open my mail the other day and what do I find a personal thank you note from the owner of John’s and a $40 gift card for my next service. These guys have my business for as long as I am here in San Diego

I have been taking my cars to John's since 2017. Every time I've been there, I felt confident that my vehicle was in good hands. Recently I took my 05 CR-V in for an inspection and I was extremely impressed by the customer service provided by Dave and Rick and also the quality of the work performed by Ulisess. If you want to take your car to a place where you will be treated like family, then don't bother looking any further. These guys are constantly busy and they have absolutely no motivation to rip you off when they already have so much business as it is. And for that reason, sometimes it might take a bit longer than you prefer to get your vehicle back... but I promise you it's worth it, because they're making sure to do a great job with every car that enters their shop. These guys will NEVER try to upsale you on anything. They will ONLY tell you something needs to get done if it truly needs to get done. And if it doesn't need to get done any time soon, they'll tell you that it's safe to wait. Their inspection reports are thorough and honest. I know I will continue to come to this shop for as long as I live in southern California.

I needed a repair done on my timing chain and seal cover. I had gotten approved through a third party company connected with the California BAR for payment for the repair. I requested a legally required w9 so that the BAR could process the payment and send out the check directly to John's Automotive and they refused to provide the legally required document. Mind you I had a deadline. After going back and forth trying to get the document and getting the run around the simply just flat out refused. Im guessing that they did not want me as a customer. So I ended up going through Toyota. Mind you johns quoted the repair close to $9k just for the timing chain. Toyota did the timing chain the seal cover a tune up and gave me 2 new tires for $5,567 with the bar covering the timing chain and seal cover. So I guess that them refusing to provide the w9 was a blessing in disguise. They lost a future customer with their refusal and super inflated prices and Toyota gained a customer for life.
