I got the Roadside and tried to use it just once when instead of help I got phone calls from tow companies telling me that GS was only offering $35 buck for a jump when the starting rate is at least $80 locally and many pay $125. AAA always allowed me to call for secondary help if their guy couldn’t make it and then they sent me a check. 15 years ago it was $50 bucks for a jump start, GS seems to be set to 1980 prices when it come to helping your stranded family. That is a big insult. Off to AAA they were not great but they never left me on the road because they were too cheap to payout. As long as GS has been around you know they know better also. Such a shame I had GS as a younger man and it was fine. Just rack it up to another business just straining the life out of our time and pocketbooks. Americas are paying more and more for these type of services with less results in all areas of business in USA it seems.

I am sure others have had a good experience with Roadside Assistance however ours was not. We lost both wheels going 60 mph on a busy interstate in the pouring rain. Called Good Sam Roadside Assistance and when finally connected to an attendant, he was VERY difficult to understand in that his mic was going bad - quite garbled. We needed to get off the interstate and the big question was where do we want to be towed. They could not even begin to dispatch a tow truck until we knew where we wanted it towed. That was taking time to figure out on a Sunday. The attendant called back and the message was so garbled even the phone number to call back on could not be understood. So, I had to go back through the main number and when connected to someone else, who was clearly understandable, started all over with questions even though I had the reference number for the incident. I was told the original attendant would call back immediately. That did not happen and Hwy Patrol needed to get us safely off the interstate as it had already been a couple hours. Hwy Patrol ordered towing and it came in about 20 minutes. It took over an hour to load the RV due to losing both wheels. We had it towed to a location less than 2 miles away. The next communication from Good Sam was “please rate our service.” Not good at all in this situation.

I just had a great customer service call with Matthew and he answered a couple of important questions I had before renewing my platinum road assistance plan for this coming season. It is a great peace of mind knowing they know RVs in a pinch, unlike auto clubs if I need something on my next adventure. I also got the travel assist this season for the first time. I have several trips involving activities where I may be injured and they will drive my RV home if I cannot, and other great added benefits! Now there is no reason not to give 'er and win the race!
