I recently moved to the Plano area and was looking to find my new regular service location. I found Grease Monkey online, saw the solid reviews and coupons available and decided to give it a shot. This turned out to be a very expensive mistake. I arrived, gave them my keys and selected the oil change service I wanted, everyone was friendly and helpful. While waiting, I asked them to take a look at my car (2018 Hyundai Sonata, 85kish miles) serpentine belt as I know that they begin to show wear and may need replaced around this mileage. This is a service they offer, so figured id have them take a look. Shortly after, I looked into the bay and noticed they were having trouble getting my car to start. They then came in and told me it wouldn't start, due to the belts. They immediately told me I would have to get it towed to a new shop, as they apparently did not have the tools available to perform the work on the belts. While I was on the phone deciding on a tow company, they pushed my car out of the bay so that it could be towed. It should be noted that at this time they told me it wasn't the battery, because my lights and accessories all functioned, but they did not test the battery as they were insistent it was the belts. After waiting 45 minutes for the tow truck, it arrived and I began explaining the situation to the driver who is also a mechanic. He was confused by what I had relayed to him, and just on a hunch decided to try and jumpstart my car. My car immediately turned over, and started with no issue. I had experienced no issues with my battery up to this point as well. So due to the fact that no on in the shop though to test the battery (which they offer as a free service on the front door) or try and jump start the car when it couldn't start in their bay, i had to pay over a hundred dollars to get jumped by a tow truck. I then got a new battery at AutoZone, because mine was clearly going out. I thought this would be the end of it, but i was wrong. About 2 days after this fiasco, I noticed a severe oil leak under my car. I then took my car to my previous shop before I moved, as I trusted them and they had done good work for me in the past. They informed of and showed me a large crack in my oil pan, and my cars splash shield was soaked in oil as a result of the leak. I then had to spend hundreds of dollars to get my oil pan and splash shield replaced, as well as a new oil change. I am not implying that grease monkey cracked my oil pan or anything, but the timing is odd and you would think they would notice a large crack or signs of an oil leak and inform me of that while they were changing my oil. I got in contact with the Area Manager of Grease Monkey, who after I explained the events said that he would reach out to the store and review camera footage to try and get an idea of what happened. He has not since gotten back to me with any information, which is fine because it is not like ill be coming back for service. I just wanted them to be aware that it happened. Overall, while the employees were kind throughout, It kind of felt like they wanted nothing more than to get my car off their hands and get rid of the problem. A simple battery test and I would have gladly purchased a battery from them. I have never written a negative review in my life, but the events of my visit here required one. I will not be returning, and recommend others think twice before you do.

If you are looking for a reliable shop to take your car to with competitively fair pricing, I highly encourage you take your car to Grease Monkey. The first time I went to Grease Monkey I requested an oil change and an oil filter change. The quality of service my car received was high and time efficient. They also identified another issue that was causing rattling noises in the engine of my vehicle and fixed it on the spot (free of charge). Every person you talk to there will be friendly and helpful. I have been to Grease Monkey several times for different things, and they have always been consistently friendly, professional, and honest. For a 15,000 mile check up, they only did what needed to be done…not everything listed in the manual. If it is a service that is not needed at the time, they tell you. I have recommended them to several friends who have not been disappointed.

I had a very serious problem with this company that has not yet been resolved. Be careful when you take your car there and when you go to pick it up, your car will be damaged. I left my car to be fixed there and when I went to pick it up, the metal frame had fallen on top and there was damage. They told me that they had activated the insurance and were waiting, but it was taking a long time. I asked for the claim number and contacted them and, to my surprise, they had not mentioned the damage to my car. The insurance opened an investigation and concluded that it was not the company's fault and that they would not pay for the damage, because they said it was a natural phenomenon, a tornado, and that they were not at fault. Recently took my Genesis in for a simple oil change, and once again it took over an hour, This was my second visit, the first time was just as long, but I decided to give them another chance since they had an explanation for the delay. During my second visit, I watched them look up how to service my vehicle, which wasn’t very reassuring. Later on, I discovered they had removed the uncover clips for my tire cover, which made for a lovely noise on the highway the next morning. Definitely won’t be coming back.

Many reasons why I would give this place hands down the best service ever! Best Oil change I’ve ever had. I was desperate for an oil change due to enterprise rental calling me informing me I need to get the oil change asap in order to keep the car in my hands. 🙌 I went 4:45 pm and called around 6-7 different places and no one was able to help me get an oil change in. I called this place 5-6 mins before closing … and they kindly without a hesitation took me in. I arrived 6:10pm and confirmed with them they were not mistaken accepting my car in so late especially after a long hot summer day. The guys were so kind and attentive! I did not know they do the whole works. They windexed and cleaned the windshield, They vaccumed , checked the fluids, and also full tire rotation. I was so pleased with their extensive full service! Not to mention the full on snack bar and coffee and water they provide. The place is kept organized and clean. Whoever runs this location has their personal green thumb touch to it which adds such a nice cozy feeling with all the lovely car related decor.

They told us they couldn’t complete the inspection because they couldn’t access the OBD module unless they removed plastic panels and charged extra. Multiple other service centers have inspected this same vehicle without any issue, so this was surprising and concerning. Because of this experience, we won’t be returning for service. Customers should not feel taken advantage of, and businesses should be transparent and fair about any additional charges before starting work.
