I called them right before closing and left a message about needing a full battery charge. Tim got back to me first thing the next morning and let me know that so could bring the car in and that it would take about two hours, which would include a 200 amp alternator test to make sure that the battery was good. They texted me when the test was done and let me know that my car was past due for an oil change and was a quart low, so I had them do an oil change also. The car was done by early afternoon and I am very happy with the quality of service provided.

Post used car purchase inspection.... As full disclosure, I'm already a Helming's customer. I recently brought a new (well, used) vehicle into my steed, and I wanted to ensure there were no issues that I had missed. I was quite happy with the depth of review on the car that Helmings performed. They identified two issues that a neutral, but seller supplied, provider did not find. I was not surprised. Helmings consistently provides top notch service, and I now have increased confidence that the new vehicle is fit for usage.

First, I take all my cars to Helmings, and have been doing so for 15+ years. It's a great feeling to have a shop that you can trust - it's one big stressor removed from my life. This visit was for a 50k mile general maintenance plus oil change. Well, we had taken the car in for a safety inspection in January (2023) and since the car had only gone 1,000 miles, there was actually nothing to be done. Talk about an honest shop! Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

I've always had a really good experience with Helmings. They are on the pricer side, but I like that they've always been transparent and professional. I always know what I'm paying for. They have an extremely fast response time, and they can sometimes accommodate to have your car done earlier.

Great service both at the counter and via phone, email, and text. Diagnosed and fixed front disc brake problem and did an overall safety check on my Honda Accord. Reported some issues and thoughtfully reviewed which needed attention now and which could wait. If you value unhurried conversation about your car and quality products this may be shop for you. Repairs done on time and I was kept updated.

This place is great - super honest, fast, and caring service. They've twice helped me with a minor issue for no charge - including the very first time I came in. They are attentive and willing to fit you in if they can and make sure you can have your car back asap. When they tell you the problem, it feels like a collaborative discussion about what actually needs to get done vs what you can afford or vs what could wait - instead of being told you MUST get this fixed. I have a lot of trust in their opinion and can tell that they maintain their client base by building up that trust. Plus sometimes there's a little dog there.

If your looking for an honest auto repair shop I highly recommend Helming's. Honesty is most important when looking for someone to work on your vehicles. I completely trust the staff at Helming's to only do work that is necessary and their pricing is not over inflated and seems reasonable for services performed. They will inspect the vehicle and let you know about any future repairs that may be needing as well. We've used them several times and have been very satisfied each time.

For many years we have known that whatever problems we are having with our two cars, Helming's will be able to diagnose what is wrong and make the necessary repairs. A comprehensive explanation is always given to us in advance and an estimate of the repair cost. Sometimes the details are too complicated for me, like a pre-op doctor's visit! However, we fully trust Helming's knows best. In addition, the cost is very fair compared to estimates received from the dealership or other auto repair services. They have earned and deserve a 5 + star rating.

I brought them my beat up '94 Camry with 200k+ miles. She was having a lot of problems, and I threw a huge list at them. They performed a thorough inspection and told me what they recommended in order of safety, then longevity. The service was ridiculously fast. Tim is extremely present over the phone, unlike many of the other mechanics I have been to. The pricing is also very reasonable. The advice they gave me was focused on affordability and longevity. I will be bringing this car back to them and highly recommend them.

Excellent customer service! I went for smog early morning and I was quickly taken cared of. The frony desk man quickly got my info and entered me into the system. I was out in 15 minutes. The gentleman technician was moving all the cars out of shop and quickly took my car inside for smog. I was really impressed on his work ethic. 👏 I wanted to tip him using debit but they don't offer it in the system. Wish they did. The technician definitely deserved it. Turns out the technician is the owner. I never seen any owner take such pride in their work and business. The quality and price I paid was worth every penny. I been looking for a honest and quality repair shop for decades. My search ended today when I found Helming's Auto Repair. Thank you Helming's. New found Gem! 💎

Helming's has been great. We found them through some referrals and now we take all of our vehicles there. They are quick, honest, and reasonable. I have *never* felt like work was done that was not needed, a quality in a repair shop that all should value. Helming’s delivers top notch service. I have been taking my cars to them for routine maintenance and repairs for about 3 years and I have never been disappointed. I love that I can text Leanne to make appointments. Last week I bought a used car then took it to Helming’s for a “new buyers inspection”. They found something amiss that had not been disclosed by the car dealer and told me. The issue was bad enough to prompt me to return the car and get my money back. Thank goodness I’d got it checked out! This week, I found another car and before I buy I’ll be taking it to Helming’s to check it out. I trust Helming’s with my cars. They have the expertise and excellent customer service that I appreciate. I give them an A+ for service all around!

Very happy to have found this shop. They appear to run a very tight ship in order to keep from taking on more business than they can handle and therefore turnaround times are usually within a day. I mostly communicated with Leane who is absolutely lovely. The shop is very forthright about their plans for a vehicle and will go the extra mile for their customers. My vehicle became a bit of a puzzle and they took the time to troubleshoot for hours without trying to price gouge. A customer will always feel heard there. A huge thank you to everyone I spoke to today and in past visits. This will be my shop as long as I live in the Bay Area.
