Had an issue with my 2000 Nissan Altima stalling out at idle and misfiring in some gears at a certain rpm. I’m decent with some fixes, but this one was getting the best of me and I decided to take it in. Craig was super honest about the costs and gave me a few options and was very knowledgeable about the parts and fix. Unfortunately, the first part replacement only fixed one issue. Called Craig and he got a part to fix the second issue and I haven’t had a problem since. Thanks for giving my old car more life to live!

Mervin and Craig are the most Honest and unbelievable mechanics I've Ever dealt with. They both have years and years of experience and pay very close attention to detail. Craig even goes to the level of finding the Cheaper parts to fix your vehicle, and even called me to ensure that the part he had found was what I wanted for my 2014 Honda Accord. In this day when it's all about the dollar Mervin and Craig go above and Beyond to save you money even if it takes it from their own pocket. My family has been dealing with them for 30 plus years. This Father And Son Team Work, Live, and Treat their Customers with nothing less than Integrity!! There isn't another Shop in this region I nor my family will Ever take our Vehicles To. I wanted to wait a few days after my repair to post a review. Mervin's auto repair is probably one of the most honest mechanics I know. I have never owned a standard car before. I was honestly under the impression on Friday, that my clutch was going. I called quite a few mechanics, but the only group that was willing to get me in, and complete the job the same day was Mervin. I took the car in and had them look it over, instead of trying to convince me that i did infact NEED the clutch (and get over 1000 dollars from me) they opted to tell me the truth, stating that they didn't think my concern was a concern at all, and that they thought I would just need to replace the fluid for the transmission. 2 days later of driving my car, the rattle noise that i had heard is gone, and the grinding that I heard when switching gears in minimal to none existent. This company could have taken me for a ride, but they chose to be honest. For that they have earned themselves a returning costumer and I look forward to giving an honest company my money (side note: their prices are absolutely fair. 75 dollars for a transmission fluid change. Keep in mind they had my car for the whole day from 0900 that morning to 1630 that afternoon. Not to shabby at all.)

So I usually don't post reviews, but I will make an exception. If you are looking for a mechanic in Lynchburg, look no further. I finally found one for you who will go above and beyond to make sure your car is taken care of. He even explained the issues to me, and showed me the parts of the car that needed replacement. He is very friendly, professional and courteous. Coming from someone who has been ripped off by mechanics who just want your money so they keep creating problems so you can return, I can tell you, this is the best place to go. The prices are also absolutely affordable.

Cannot say enough positive about Mervin's. Craig goes above and beyond the call of duty, spending hours diagnosing and fixing issues, explaining clearly what is going on, and always at a more than fair price. His Mom, who runs the office, is friendly and delightful. This is the kind of business we used to take for granted "back in the day" but that is now all too rare. A few years ago, the mechanic who had serviced our vehicles since we moved to Lynchburg retired and I've been looking for someone knowledgeable, honest, and reliable ever since. My search is over. Craig will be working on all my cars from here on out. And the good news, he's still a far piece from retirement.
